Purpose: This study aims to investigate the moderating effect of risk perception on the relationship among emotional biases (i.e., regret aversion and loss aversion) and the trading frequency of individual investors in the context of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Approach / Methodology: This study is conducted under the philosophical assumptions of the positivist paradigm and the approach is deductive. The convenience sampling technique is used for sample selection of registered individual investors on the database of PSX. This led the study towards designing a cross-sectional study. Furthermore, 384 questionnaires are used for the collection of primary data from a population of 0.22 million registered PSX individual investors. The direction and degree of relationship among variables of concern are analyzed by the multiple linear regression techniques. The structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique is used for authentication of moderation results. Findings: The results depict that regret aversion and loss aversion have statistically significant and negative impacts on individual investors’ trading frequency. Whereas, risk perception has an insignificant & positive impact on individual investors’ trading frequency. Moreover, risk perception is found to moderate the relationship between these two emotional behavioral biases. Originality/Value: This current study is a pioneer in developing links between individual investors’ trading frequency, loss aversion, regret aversion, and risk perception. The article also contributes to the literature of behavioral finance, specifically while understanding the role of emotional biases in investment strategies. So, this article engenders the reader's thoughtfulness to find plausible explanations in minimizing the impact of emotional biases in trading frequency and decision-making of individual investors. Implications: This study implies that emotional biases and risk perception cause and moderate the magnitude of the trading frequency of individual investors. The regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and PSX can launch training programs for individual investors to train them in coping up with such emotional biases and risk perception. This might result in the enhancement of the market capitalization of the stock market.

This study empirically investigates the less discussed catalytic effect of personality in the relationship of leadership style and employee thriving at work. The growth and sustainability of the organization is linked with the association of leadership style and employee thriving at the worplace. The objectives of this study are to explore the impact of authoritative and laissez-faire leadership styles and the moderating role of the personality trait of conscientiousness on thriving in the workplace. A sample of 312 participants was taken from a leading school system with its branches in Lahore and Islamabad, Pakistan. The participants either worked as managers, teachers in headquarters, or school campuses, respectively. The regression results of the study show that authoritative leadership and conscientiousness have a significantly positive impact on thriving at work. Furthermore, conscientiousness moderates the relationship between laissez-faire style of leadership and thriving at work relationship. The findings of this study have theoretical implications for authoritative and laissez-faire leadership, employee conscientiousness, and managerial applications for the practitioners.

This study examines the impact of both transformational leadership (TFL) and transactional leadership (TCL) on employee intention to stay (ITS) in deluxe hotels. It also examines the mediating role of organisational commitment (OC) in the relationship between leadership styles, i.e. TFL and TCL, and ITS. A pre-tested questionnaire survey was self-administered to front-line employees in deluxe hotels in Egypt, where these leadership styles were prominent. The key findings showed that TFL has more positive impact on OC and ITS than TCL. Affective commitment (AC) and normative commitment (NC) were found to partially mediate the relationship between both leadership styles and ITS. Employees exhibit higher ITS when they perceive proper leadership practices, especially TFL. Hotel executives should place more emphasis and investments on TFL to effectively achieve OC and positively influence ITS which is critical for the hotel industry that often suffers from high employee turnover.

Purpose Significant increase or decrease in research and development (R&D) expenditure may have an immense impact on market value. Based on the punctuated equilibrium theory, this paper aims to empirically analyze the impact of R&D volatilities on market value and the moderating effect of executive overconfidence. Design/methodology/approach The study uses the panel data set that covers 902 Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share manufacturing listed firms and multiple regression method to test the theoretical hypotheses. Findings The results show that both positive and negative R&D volatilities have a robust and significant positive impact on the market value. Further analysis shows that the executive overconfidence positively moderates the relationship between R&D volatilities and market value. Research limitations/implications In a rapidly changing and highly competitive environment, firms should recognize that the balance of innovation strategies will help to bring higher market value. Furthermore, firms could improve corporate governance to make the best of managerial characteristics, such as overconfidence, on the innovation decision-making process. Originality/value By pushing the static perspective to a dynamic perspective and empirically documenting the role of executive overconfidence, this study contributes to the literature on the relationship between R&D expenditure and market value, generating theoretical and practical insights for firms to improve innovation governance and innovation strategies to achieve better business performance.

The purpose of this paper is to employ Social Exchange Theory to examine the relationship between organizational trust and work engagement and the role of perceived stress as a moderator in Palestinian ministries. For this purpose, the study utilizes a sample of 178 respondents of executive-level employees in which primary data collection is conducted using survey instrument and PLS-SEM for data analysis. The study proposes that perceived stress moderates the impact of organizational trust on vigor, dedication and absorption, and that perceived stress plays an important role in moderating the relationship between organizational trust and employees' work engagement. The study concludes that implementation of organizational trust is important in Palestinian ministries to support employees’ engagement and to create positive outcome in the workplace.

Organizational strategic feasibility studies are critical in mitigating uncertainty in the business environment and enhancing growth and performance. This study sought to ascertain the role of feasibility studies in the sustainability of supermarkets in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study's specific objectives were to determine the impact of technical feasibility, economic feasibility, operational feasibility, and legal feasibility on the sustainability of supermarkets in Nairobi County, Kenya. A descriptive research design was used for the study. The study's target population was seven major supermarkets: Naivas, QuickMart, Cleanshelf, The Game Store, Chandarana, Eastmatt, and Carrefour. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data. Findings indicated that technical feasibility is positively and significantly related to the business sustainability of supermarkets in Nairobi County. The findings also revealed that economic feasibility is positively and significantly related to the business sustainability of supermarkets in Nairobi County. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between operational feasibility and business sustainability of supermarkets in Nairobi County. Finally, the findings revealed that the legal feasibility and business sustainability of Nairobi County supermarkets are positively and significantly related. The study concluded that technical feasibility, economic feasibility, operational feasibility, and legal feasibility all have a positive impact on supermarket business sustainability. The study recommends that supermarkets should become acquainted with the technical technology that is available on the market and evaluate those that are appropriate for their needs. Managers of Nairobi County supermarkets increase the level of internal and external benchmarking in their supermarkets for economic benefit assessments. PurposeThis study aims to explore customer personality traits as an antecedent of customer citizenship behaviour which positively facilitates service providers.Design/methodology/approachThis study follows the positivism research paradigm. Hence, primary data were collected from 250 homestay visitors who stayed at five selected homestays located at Mirissa homestay zone, Sri Lanka.FindingsThe present study's findings reveal that “agreeableness,” “extraversion” and “conscientiousness” personality traits promote customer citizenship behaviour. Furthermore, the openness to “experience” trait identified to have a statistically insignificant relationship with CCB and neuroticism recorded a positive impact on the relationship between CCB and personality, contrary to the existing literature.Practical implicationsThis study comprehensively explains how service providers should arrange their service facilities to increase customer willingness to perform citizenship behaviour, which helps develop their services.Originality/valuePrevious research has investigated that customer personality in terms of prosocial and proactive nature impacts CCBs. In contrast, the effect of Big Five personality traits on CCB is highlighted in this study.

Self Help Groups have emerged as an important mechanism to bring about socio-economic change in society. Various studies indicate the positive impact that SHGs have had on employment generation, savings, incomes, poverty alleviation and women empowerment. The present study, based on primary data sourced from women members of SHGs located in the state of Goa is an attempt to understand the impact of group membership on its members, particularly women. An attempt has also been made to throw light on the pivotal role that the Self Help Group Promoting Agencies essay in realising the goal of women empowerment. The study also analyses the independence that women exhibit in taking decisions, be it in the economic or political domain.

This study aimed to explain the role of supply chain practices on operational performance, and supply chain practices on company competitiveness and to analyze the impact of company competitiveness on operational performance. In addition, we also investigate the impact of supply chain practices on operational performance through role of company competitiveness as mediation variable. The study was conducted in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Primary data were collected by questionnaire instrument from 108 food and beverage companies. Method of analysis was both descriptive statistical analysis, and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The study also used Sobel test to determine significance level of mediation role in the model. The results show that supply chain practices could give a positive impact on operational performance. Supply chain practices also gave a positive impact and significant on company competitiveness. Then, company competitiveness had a positive impact and significant on operational performance. Additionally, supply chain practices also had a positive impact on operational performance indirectly through the role of company competitiveness as mediation variable. Hence, supply chain practice was the most important variable to increase both company competitiveness and operational performance. Each company is recommended to implement this variable as competitive weapon in order to get a better operational performance and competitiveness as well.

We investigated the impact of employee experience on customer loyalty in the hospitality industry, focusing in particular on the serial mediating effects of perceived authenticity and relational commitment, and the moderating role of customer age. To test the proposed conceptual model, we conducted an online survey with 649 participants who had used restaurant services in the past month. Results showed that employee experience exerted a positive impact on customer loyalty. In addition, the relationship between employee experience and customer loyalty was sequentially mediated by perceived authenticity and relational commitment, and the older the customer age, the stronger were the serial mediating effects. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed, and suggestions provided for improving hospitality services.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of product innovation novelty on the relationship between customer involvement and new product development (NPD) cost performance. Design/methodology/approach The authors use organizational information processing theory and adopt hierarchical regression and slope difference test to assess the relationships between constructs and test the hypotheses. Findings The authors evaluate the concept of product innovation novelty from the perspectives of suppliers and customers and infer that these two types of product innovation novelty exert a moderate effect on the relationship between customer involvement and NPD cost performance. First, product innovation novelty for customers strengthens the positive effects of customer involvement on the NPD cost performance. Second, product innovation novelty for suppliers weakens the positive impact of customer involvement on the NPD cost performance. The authors also find that the interaction between product innovation novelty for suppliers and product innovation novelty for customers weakens the positive impact of customer involvement on NPD cost performance. Originality/value The findings of this study explain the reasons for the controversies surrounding the impact of customer involvement on cost performance and discuss the role of product innovation novelty in customer involvement in NPD process. The results of this study can be used to establish whether customer involvement improves or weakens NPD cost performance and identify the role of product innovation novelty in NPD. The conclusions derived from this study can provide theoretical knowledge and managerial insights for both academicians and corporate professionals.
