In order to do so, we used the construction of a theoretical model supported mainly by Torres (2004) discussions on school culture, school organizational culture and school organizational of culture and Mancebo (2007) discussions on precariousness, intensification, flexibility, decentralization and evaluation of teaching work. We used the case study method, which adopted the IFRN as an observation field. To collect data, a questionnaire survey was administered to 213 teachers. The results obtained suggest that organizational culture variables are those that focus on organizational values and norms, which is the main variable that influences the achievement of the teacher's work, with emphasis on their (in)satisfaction with the remuneration received, to the precariousness of working conditions, intensification of teaching work. Keywords: Professional education. This case study deals with the conceptof Interpersonal Relationship, foreseen in the Pedagogical Projects of the course -PPC's Technologist in Management Processes of Campi of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to being described in PPCs, in profile of the course and the graduate, Interpersonal Relationship is also an extremely valued skill in the world of work. The main objective is to analyze how the concept of Interpersonal Relationship is worked through the courses in Technology inManagement Processes. Paulo Freire's theory and his considerations on critical awareness, dialogicity and humanization served as the basis for this study. The data were generated through interviews with four course coordinators (Porto Alegre, Farroupilha,Osório and Caxias do Sul), in order to analyze their understanding of the concept of Interpersonal Relationship and their insertion throughout the course. The results indicate that the concept of Interpersonal Relationship has a wide approach in some disciplines formalized in the Pedagogical Course Project, but also occurs informally in other disciplines, according to the teachers' pedagogical profile and practices. The work highlights the importance of developing and updating the Pedagogical Course Project, as it is the expression of the course. And it also stresses the relevance of addressing the concept of Interpersonal Relationship in the higher course of Technology in Management Processes, aiming at a humanized formation, extremely valued in the professional sphere.

The academic/practitioner divide is real. Having observed and participated in this divide over four decades it seems as if the same issues get repeated over and over. This paper offers one approach that was used several years ago. The “case” is a collaboration between a recently hired Professor of Practice and the author, a full professor with only limited government experience. There were two main challenges in the relationship. The diplomatic had to adjust to a different organizational culture and the academic had to adjust to contact he wasn't familiar with. A new elective course was developed called, Drugs, Crime, and Terrorism. I describe this process and draw lessons about the value of this type of experience for faculty, practitioners, and professional education.

Purpose This paper aims to analyze strategies that promote sustainability in higher education institutions (HEIs), focusing on the case study of a federal institute of higher education in Brazil. Design/methodology/approach The research was based on a scientific literature review on sustainability in HEIs, to identify the recurrent actions for sustainability in these institutions; and a case study of a federal institute of higher education in Brazil, to illustrate how these actions are being implemented by HEIs. Findings Concerns about sustainability, prompted by the Brazilian federal legislature, led federal HEI to change its internal processes, infrastructure and organizational culture toward sustainability. Practical implications The findings presented in this study, more specifically the sustainability plan of the Federal Institute for Education, Science and Technology of Santa Catarina, aligned with the recommendations proposed, can be used and replicated in other HEIs. Originality/value Scientific literature about organizational changes led by sustainability concerns, in HEIs specifically, still needs more attention in the academia. By addressing the case of a Brazilian public institution of higher education, this paper contributes to the literature on sustainability in higher education by reporting the process of implementation of a sustainability plan.

This article examines one of the key competencies of the 21st century known as cultural intelligence (CQ). This study investigates the relationship between CQ, organizational culture, and the effectiveness of staff in the industry, mine, and trade organizations of Semnan province in Iran. Using correlational analysis, the statistical population includes a total of 103 people from 141 employees based on personnel department documents. Three questionnaires were used to measure the variables and descriptive and deductive statistics were applied to evaluate and analyze the data. The Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression were used in deductive statistics to obtain the results. The findings show there is a significant relationship between CQ, organizational culture, and effectiveness. Among four cultural intelligence factors, only the knowledge of CQ can predict the effectiveness. The calculated correlation coefficient indicates that the creativity factors and communication pattern have the highest correlation coefficients.

AbstractThis work deals with the change implemented by Law 11,892 / 2008 that integrated the Technical Schools, Agrotechnics and Federal Centers of Education for the formation of the Federal Institutes of Education in Brazil.
