The brine-saturated leaching zone first encountered in the salt rocks of the Verkhnekamskoe Salt Deposit is characterized in detail. It consists of a cavernous nucleus (40×70 m), composed of an aposilvinite syngenite-halite rock with gypsum and kalistroncite, and a recrystallization halo 60–80 m wide, not containing secondary sulfates. Above the leaching zone is a linear zone of weathering and decarbonization of marls above the salt layer. This zone is controlled by the anticlinal crest of the sublatitudinal strike, extending parallel to the Durinsky Trough of the sedimentary-fault nature. The penetration of supra-salt waters into a salt deposit is associated with the manifestation of deformations in the salt mass at its hinge inflection during the formation of the Durinsky deflection in the Early Permian time. The connection of the brines of the investigated leaching zone with infiltration over-salt sulfate-calcium waters was revealed and their place was determined in the general scheme of genetic typification of natural brines and waters circulating in the salt deposit of the Verkhnekamskoe Salt Deposit.

The data on the taxonomy and distribution of bacteria of the family Micrococcaceae isolated from ecosys-tems with different degrees of anthropogenic impact (Perm Territory: Perm, Berezniki, Solikamsk, Osa) are analyzed. The phylogenetic diversity and wide distribution of the family Micrococcaceae representa-tives in various biotopes of the Verkhnekamskoe salt deposit mining area are shown. A variety of species of the Micrococcaceae family bacteria was revealed in the soil and rhizosphere of plants growing near salt dumps. Based on the analysis of the 16S rRNA gene, the studied strains of the family Micrococca-ceae were assigned to seven genera: Arthrobacter, Pseudoarthrobacter, Glutamicibacter, Micrococcus, Kocuria, Nesterenkonia, Rothia. The studied cultivated bacteria of the family Micrococcaceae, isolated from ecotopes with extreme environmental conditions, are promising for their further use for biotechno-logical purposes.

In contrast to the carbonate-sulfate evaporites of the Syukeevskoe deposit and the salts of the Starobinskoe deposit, the formation of the salt stratum of the Verkhnekamskoe deposit is assumed to involve melt water formed between the P2 and P3 glacial events. Comparison of host rocks and newly formed mineralization made it possible to show that the process of diagenesis in carbonate-argillaceous strata alternating with rock salt was difficult. Initially, there was a decomposition of dispersed plant detritus, which is confirmed by the lightening of the isotopic composition of carbon. After the interaction of sulfate-containing sediment with desalinated waters, the anhydrite was replaced by 16O-enriched calcite. The complete lithification and stratification of clay strata led to the formation of exfoliation cavities, in which halite-calcite veins of columnar structure were formed associated with the influx of brines from neighboring salt strata enriched in 18O.

Thermal and productivity measurements and flow visualization experiences were performed on a real scale module of a basin type solar still, whose geometry and thermal conditions could be changed in a controlled way. The convective stage was studied with the aim of acquiring information about the nature of the medium inside it and the influence of different parameters over the productivity. Literature shows a great number of experimental and numerical works dealing with different aspects of the performance of solar stills: thermal losses, vapor losses, salt deposit on the tray, geometry, thermal inertia, etc. Few works are reported that take into account convective phenomena and the fluiddynamic characteristics of the medium inside the still. Most of these works are based on Dunkle’s and Copper’s models of the still that does not take into account the characteristics of the environment. A new physical model based on these experiments is presented.

The applicability of microgravimetric surveys for determining the thickness and shape of a salt deposit has been explored by carrying out field measurements. The survey includes five profiles crossing a Samawa salt deposit that attains a maximum thickness of about 8.5 m. The results indicate that the method can be applied successfully if a few boreholes are available as control points to define the local regional field. A simple sheet formula with a fixed density value was used in determining the bed thickness and the general shape of the deposit. The thicknesses calculated in this way agree well with the available borehole information.

Scenarios of the component arrangement of batching plants in the system of a vertical mine shaft are discussed. The features of operation of batching plants in vertical shafts of potash mines are identified. The actual recorded damages generated in the lining of batching plants in the course of their longterm operation in potash mines are described. The geomechanical researches aimed to determine vertical convergence in batching rooms of mine shafts, as well as for monitoring of crack opening and displacements in sidewalls in the batching chambers are presented. The major results of the full-scale geomechanical observations are reported, and the main causes of fractures in concrete and reinforced concrete lining at junctures of shafts and batching rooms and shaft bins are identified. The set of the engineering solutions implemented for the protection of lining in batching facilities during construction of mine shafts is described, and its efficiency is evaluated. The mathematical modeling is carried out to estimate various negative impacts on deformation and fracture of concrete lining in shafts with regard to the time factor. From the modeling results, the dominant cause of concrete lining damage in batching chambers and in mine shaft is found. Based on the accomplished research results and actual long-term experience of operation of mine shafts, the most favorable factors are determined for the best design choices in construction and long-term maintenance-free operation of batching plants in potash mines of the Upper Kama Potash–Magnesium Salt Deposit.

The equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) is an important characteristic of our country which is used to measure insulator deposition level. The contamination of the insulator would reach saturation after a period of time.In order to increase the specific creepage distance, disc suspension porcelain insulator lower surface inward concave, which makes the rain washing the upper surface difficult, that cause the saturation time of lower surface longer than upper surface .For studying the operation insulator contamination saturation time and reflecting the ESDD of the actual operation line accurately, this paper adopts a comparison method between empty hanging insulator surface and operation insulator surface to measure the ESDD , the field experimental results further verify that the saturated time of disc suspension insulator lower surface is longer, so as to lay the foundation for the ESDD measurement.
