RESUMO:O objetivo do presente estudo foi descrever e interpretar, de acordo com a literatura específica, a percepção de professores de esportes para jovens sobre a forma como obtiveram seus conhecimentos para ensinar. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa de caráter descritivo interpretativo, com estudo de casos múltiplos, envolvendo 4 professores de reconhecida competência na formação de jovens esportistas. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevista estruturada, semi-estruturada e analisados utilizando-se a técnica de análise do conteúdo. Os resultados evidenciaram que os docentes valorizam diversas fontes de conhecimento, sobre tudo as situações reais decorrentes da experiência prática como atleta; observação de seu professor; socialização dos conhecimentos através de compartilhamentos de informações e reflexão sobre seu desempenho como professor. Concluiu-se que os profissionais aprenderam através de um fazer compartilhado, com predomínio prático e realizado com foco no domínio de conhecimentos sobre o esporte o qual ensinam. ABSTRACT:The aim of this study was to describe and interpret, according to the specific literature, the perception of youth sports teachers on how to teach acquired their knowledge. We conducted a qualitative research interpretive, descriptive, with multiple case study involving 4 teachers of recognized competence in the training of young athletes. Data were collected through structured interview, semi-structured and analyzed using the technique of content analysis. The results showed that teachers value different sources of knowledge about all the situations arising from real practical experience as an athlete, watching your teacher; socialization of knowledge through shares information and reflection on his performance as a teacher. It was concluded that professionals have learned to do through a shared, practical and performed predominantly focused in the field of knowledge about the sport which they teach. RESUMEN:El objetivo del estudio fue describir e interpretar, de acuerdo con la literatura específica, la percepción de profesores de jóvenes deportistas sobre cómo adquirido sus conocimientos para enseñar. Se realizó una investigación cualitativa interpretativa, descriptiva, con estudio de casos múltiple con 4 profesores de reconocida competencia en la formación de jóvenes deportistas. Los datos fueron colectados a través de entrevistas estructuradas, semi-estructuradas y analizados mediante la técnica de análisis de contenido. Los resultados mostraron que los profesores valoran las diferentes fuentes de conocimiento, especialmente las situaciones derivadas de la experiencia práctica y real como atleta, observando a su profesor, la socialización del conocimiento a través de acciones de información y reflexión sobre su desempeño como docente. Se concluyó que los profesionales han aprendido a través del hacer compartido, práctico y realizado predominantemente centrado en el campo de los conocimientos sobre el deporte que enseñan.

This research aims to explore the secondary school sixth and seventh graders’ length measuring estimation skills developing activities related to the daily life objects. The study is in a qualitative multiple case study model. The universe of the research consisted of the sixth and seventh graders. The sample of the research consisted of 85 students, who were studying at a secondary school in sixth and seventh classes in 2 (two) state schools determined with the purposive sampling method in the 2018-2019 educational year. The maximum variety was ensured for the class level, gender, and mathematics achievement scores; voluntariness for the easily accessible situation. The data were obtained with the scales and semi-structured interview forms prepared during the research process and analyzed descriptively. The research results suggest that the length measuring estimation skills of the secondary school sixth and seventh graders relevant to the daily life objects can be developed with the activities that will develop the students’ prior knowledge and skills.

The purpose of this study is to contribute to the improvement of the application by revealing the difficulties of transported education application in a secondary school. In this study, single holistic case design was followed. Data was collected through semi-structured interview and semi-structured observation forms. 11 participants, determined by the maximal variation sampling, were interviewed and 14 weeks of participant observation was made. Data were analyzed by content analysis. Findings revealed that most important difficulties of transported education; for students, coming to school early and without having breakfast, waste of time and sleeplessness; for administrators, heavy workload. For educational programs, most serious difficulty for students is not to participate in out of school activities. Besides, it was determined that of the school-families cooperation was not of the desired quality. It was proposed to develop a new working order for school buses, to carry out an action research aimed at strengthening families' commitment to school, and to conduct multiple case studies in schools to be determined by extreme case sampling.

The article identifies how Research and Development (R&D) collaborations in startups can influence digital innovation in Brazilian manufactures. A qualitative multiple case study was performed with startups incubated at the Federation of Industries of Paraná (FIEP), through semi-structured interviews to the Chief Executive Officer (CEOs) and case document’s, applying the content analysis. The results indicate that the sources of knowledge of the startups and the collaboration with companies, universities, government development agencies and incubators, characterize the actions in the ecosystem of open innovation. It has been found that the complexity of the innovation ecosystem of startups is a strategic asset, and the nature of the collaborations is informal, coupled with a stage of maturity considered low in startups. This study contributes to highlight the nature, dynamics and progress of startup collaborations in the development of digital transformation, and the challenges for the leverage of Industry 4.0 in Brazil.

The Galapagos archipelago represents an insular system with finite natural resources, a growing population, and an economy heavily weighted on tourism that leaves it vulnerable to shocks, such as the Covid-19 crisis. This work proposes an alternative scenario developed through creating intersections between water-energy-food (WEF) nexus and adaptive co-management (ACM) approaches to resource management. This framework allows the identification of novel synergies that are applied to the analysis of Galapagos as case study. Within this approach, qualitative analysis is applied to data collected via a set of interviews with local stakeholders (including community, business, third sector, and government actors) to evaluate (i) how a deeper understanding of community perceptions and needs can help to identify pathways toward more sustainable development in line with conservation goals, (ii) what governance frameworks should be implemented to promote community-based resource management and resilience, and (iii) what role education and capacitation can play in supporting alternative forms of economic activity. The research suggests that the implementation of an integrated WEF-ACM framework for resource management in Galapagos could promote resilience by opening a space for deliberation and conflict resolution between legitimate stakeholders, thus supporting more effective and balanced participative governance. The current Covid-19 crisis has led to the emergence of alternative forms of community collaboration that demonstrate the potential for a more economically diverse and more sustainable future. By placing different sources of knowledge on a level platform in such a framework, greater community ownership of resource management and conservation goals could be achieved. The incorporation of an ACM approach within the management of WEF resources would also allow Galapagueños to determine their own vision of a future sustainable socio-ecosystem, based on optimising system outcomes by co-identifying the trade-offs and synergies between the interrelated resource sectors, but requires a transformation in institutional culture.

This contribution attempts to discuss the current scenario of rare material available in the libraries of Lahore city. Lahore is capital of Punjab province of Pakistan. The study seeks to explore the various aspects such as acquisition, organization, access, preservation & conservation of rare material of libraries of Lahore, Pakistan. The study is qualitative in nature; based on multiple case study design. A multiple case study helps the researchers in finding the differences among cases. Semi-structured interview guide was used as data collection tool. The observation and document analysis of log registers of the cases (libraries) were also done wherever facilitated. It was found that rare collection is underutilized in the libraries of Lahore. Findings also established that separate funds are not allocated to the public libraries of Lahore for acquisition and management of the rare material. This paper identifies the current status and issues in acquisition, management, access and use of rare material at public libraries of Lahore, Pakistan.

<p>Suboptimal care of acutely unwell ward patients is of growing concern internationally. As empirical study of the problem is underdeveloped this thesis explores factors affecting suboptimal care of acutely unwell ward patients. In order to bring a theoretical understanding to this area, a concept analysis of the term suboptimal care was undertaken. The results of this concept analysis were then used to inform the design and analysis of this multiple case study. The cases for this study were two general surgical and two general medical wards located in two hospitals in the North Island of New Zealand. Interviews and focus groups with nurses, doctors, and managerial staff were undertaken using a semi structured interview approach informed by the concept analysis. Organisational and ward documentation was also reviewed. Using categorical aggregation and pattern matching, an analytical framework emerged from the data. This framework was then used to conduct within, cross case, and hospital analyses. Key findings of this research reveal that workload, teamwork, communication, leadership, skills and knowledge deficit, and organisational systems and processes are significant factors affecting care of acutely unwell ward patients and that these factors are not unique to specific contexts. Polarised views about workload were expressed by those who manage organisations and those who deliver care at ward level. Current approaches to improving care of the acutely unwell ward patient have involved the introduction of service initiatives. However, this study demonstrates that service initiatives alone are insufficient to improve care for acutely unwell ward patients. Recommendations from this study are that strategies should be put in place to support and develop clinical shift leaders and that staffing resources should be reviewed in the context of contemporary acute care settings. These must be informed by the views of organisational managers and ward staff leading to an integrated hospital-wide understanding of factors affecting care of the acutely unwell ward patient.</p>

Alexithymia has been associated with poor outcomes in psychotherapy. This association has been attributed to a difficulty in patients expressing emotions, engaging in emotional tasks and also poor therapeutic alliances. This study aims to better understand alexithymic patients in psychotherapy. A multiple case study design was used. Cases were selected from a larger research project considering their alexithymia level and outcome status, based on the reliable change index and the client perspective on change. Four cases are presented: with and without alexithymia with good and poor outcome. The therapeutic alliance was included as a process measure, evaluated from both client and therapist. At the end a semi structured interview was conducted with both participants, individually. The analysis concerned the integration and triangulation of the therapist and client experience for each case. Each patient was briefly presented and then a focus was made regarding the perception of both participants on the therapeutic alliance and the emotional processing and change process of the client. Both alexithymic cases and the non-alexithymic poor outcome case showed difficulties in the therapeutic alliance, especially from the perspective of the therapist. In these cases, emotional impairments may have contributed to a poor therapeutic alliance, impacting on the outcome. We suggest that a great focus on the therapeutic alliance with alexithymic patients may increase the quality of treatment and it may be more useful for case conceptualization to consider each feature of the alexithymia construct individual.

This article presents the partial results of a broader research on the conceptions and evaluative actions of six physical education teachers in high school in the city of Medellín (Colombia). Specifically, this paper presents the findings on one of its objectives: to analyze the decisions that teachers make before starting a didactic unit (planning on assessment). The research assumed a qualitative design, with a methodological approach of multiple case study. The strategies used for this purpose were the semi-structured interview and documentary analysis. The main findings of the study show that planning on assessment is not a specific activity that requires an interest on the part of the teachers, because their previous experiences give them the security to approach future units without adaptations according to the group or the subject to work on.

This study aims at determining the science concepts and subjects used in the "religion courses" taught in secondary schools and the contribution of science to religion courses, which is not a widely studied topic in the relevant literature. Like qualitative research, this study is a multiple case study. The data were collected using a semi-structured interview with five Muslim religion teachers working in an eastern city of Turkey. The interview data were analyzed using the basic descriptive and content analysis methods. The findings showed that religion teachers benefit from the concepts and subjects of science in their courses; using life sciences in their religion courses had a positive impact in teaching religious subjects better to the students; the use of the concepts of life sciences in religion courses enabled students to perceive the subject better; students enjoyed the use of science concepts in religion courses and also students asked questions to their teachers about many subjects of life sciences. Religion teachers expressed that they did not feel competent enough in the life sciences. Some recommendations, such as organizing in-service training have been made for religion teachers to feel competent enough in life sciences.
