Various of 2,5- disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole (Schiff base, ?- lactam and azo) were synthesized from 2,5-di (4,4?-amino-1,3,4-oxadiazole which usequently synth-esized from mixture of 4- amino benzoic acid and hydrazine arch of polyphosphorus acid. The synthesized compounds were cherecterized by using some spectral data (UV, FT-IR , and 1H-NMR)

In this article, four new Schiff base complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes have been synthesized with two different compositions as [M(L)2Cl2] · nH2O and [M(L)2(H2O)2]Cl2 · nH2O [where L1 = benzoin-o-amino benzoic acid (aromatic β amino acid) and L2 = benzoin bromo-o-amino benzoic acid (aromatic β amino acid); M = MnII, CoII, NiII and CuII; n = 1, 2 and 4]. These Schiff base complexes were discussed by many tool of analyses like elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, mass spectra, infrared spectra "IR," proton nuclear magnetic resonance "1H-NMR," electronic spectral and thermogravimetric analysis (TG/DTG). These complexes have an electrolytic nature within range of 78–174 Ω1 cm–1 mol –1 based on conductance measurements. Magnetic moment and electronic spectral results deduced that the geometry of Mn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ and Cu2+ complexes has an octahedral configuration. The number of coordinated and uncoordinated water molecules for the synthesized complexes were calculated based on the thermal analysis technique. The kinetic thermodynamic data were estimated by using commonly integral equations of Horowitz-Metzger (HM) and Coats-Redfern (CR). In vitro the antimicrobial activity of both free L1 and L2 ligands in comparable with their metal complexes were evaluated. This study was strengthen by molecular docking against three protein receptors, which attributing to selected organisms already used in vitro study.

A new Schiff base, 3-ethoxy salicylidene amino benzoic acid (ETSAN), has been synthesized from 3-ethoxy salicylaldehyde and 2-amino benzoic acid. Metal complexes of the Schiff base were prepared from nitrate/chloride salts of Ni(II), Co(II) Cu(II) and Zn(II) in an alcoholic medium. The complexes were non-electrolytes in dimethyl sulfoxide   solvent (DMSO). The chemical structures of the Schiff-base ligand and its metal complexes were confirmed by various spectroscopic studies like IR, UV-VIS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, ESI-mass spectra, elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermogravimetric studies and magnetic susceptibility measurements. On the basis of elemental and spectral studies, six-coordinated geometry was assigned to these complexes. In the light of these results, it is suggested that this ligand acts as neutral and tridentate and coordinates to each metal atom by azomethine nitrogen and oxygen atoms of hydroxyl group of the 3-ethoxy salicylaldehyde, besides the hydroxyl group of the carboxyl group of 2-amino benzoic acid. The mass spectral data confirms the monomeric structure of the metal complexes while the TGA studies confirm the presence of water molecules in the complex. The free Schiff base and its complexes have been tested for their antibacterial as well as antifungal activity by using disc diffusion method and the results discussed. Keywords: Schiff base; 3-ethoxy salicylaldehyde; 2-amino benzoic acid; Metal complexes; Antibacterial activity; Antifungal activity. © 2010 JSR Publications. A series of novel 3-(6-substituted-1, 3-benzothiazole-2-yl)-2-[{(4-substituted phenyl) amino} methyl] quinazolines-4(3H)-ones were synthesized by treating 2-(chloromethyl)-3-(6-substituted-1, 3-benzothiazole-2-yl) quinazoline-4-(3H)-one (IIa-d) with various substituted amine. The compounds (IIa-d) prepared by treating 2-[(chloroacetyl) amino] benzoic acid with different 2-amino-6-substituted benzothiazole. Elemental analysis, IR,1HNMR and mass spectral data confirmed the structure of the newly synthesized compounds. Synthesized quinazolines-4-one derivative were investigated for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity.

Utilizing the well-known ability of Schiff base ligands to bind metal ions, two newly fabricated ligands, namely: 2-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)benzoic acid (L1) and 2-(furan-2-ylmethyleneamino)phenol (L2) were employed to coordinate copper(II) (Cu(II)) producing the characteristically stable complexes that performed as the ionophores in the presently fabricated electrodes A and B. Thus it was possible to build these electrodes that have attractive properties and expected behavior, namely, low detection limits: 2.32 × 10–7 and 1.14 × 10–6 M Cu(II), Nernstian slope of 29.13 and 30.85 mV/decade Cu(II), broad concentration ranges from 3.98 × 10–7–1.00 × 10–2 and 1.52 × 10–6–1.00 × 10–2 M for sensors A and B, respectively, as well as short response time (ca. 3–5 s) with distinct selectivity toward Cu(II) over the other cations and applicability over the pH range 1.5–5.5 for miscellaneous samples: aqueous solutions, urine, and blood serum. Thus, these sensors surpass many others towards fulfilling the intended function of Cu(II) determination in various applications.
