ABSTRACT The Effect of Telajakan-Front Yard Conversion into an Artshop Toward Human Comfort Index and Landscape Aesthetic in Tegallalang Village Telajakan, a Balinese typical home yard, has located in front, right or left, or in the back of the yard. The study only focused on telajakan front yard along the way of Tegallalang Village which is usually used as a garden or planted area, although many of them turning into an artshop. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of telajakan conversion into an artshop using user’s comfort index and landscape aesthetic measurement. Methods used in this study was temperature humidity index (THI) with the data of temperature and humidity. In addition, to assessed the aesthetic quality of the landscape used scenic beauty estimation (SBE) method by taking a photo of each landscape element representing the land use. Result showed that user’s comport index was low (THI valued ranged from 24,47 to 27,39) and categorized as uncomfortable to the tropics area. Further, the aesthetic quality resulted that the lowest SBE quality was -80,21 and highest SBE quality was 138,42. The aesthetic quality of the majoring landscape along the way of Tegallalang valued as a low category (53,33%), medium category (28,88%), and high category (17,77%). As a results, the conversion of telajakan into an artshop caused low of user’s comfort index and low of aesthetic quality to the landscape.   Keywords: comfort index, landscape aesthetics, telajakan, temperature humidity index (THI), scenic beauty estimation (SBE).

Abstract The objective is to study the effect of heat stress on milk yield (MY) relative to milking records (n=18178) of native Holsteins (n=187), in the region of Ghardaia, according to periods of HS, using the temperature-humidity index (THI). With THI >72 during 07 months in the study area, which significantly (P<0.001) decrease the MY (-15.5% corresponding to 21.73 kg). Also, calving periods led to a significant drop (P < 0.001) in overall MY (7030.35 kg) of the order of (-14.6%), and over the lactation length (353.43 d), which explains 41% of the variations in MY. In addition, the non-significant effect (P=0.212) of the lactation range on the increase in MY, moreover, the lactation length shows a non-significant (P = 0.108) decrease (-4.68%) during heat stress (HS). Furthermore, the significant effect (P <0.001) of the interaction (Milking frequency × THI) on MY, when THI variates from < 74 to > 84, with regression of (-16.82% and -08.82%) of the MF (2X and 3X), respectively. Again, the NH cow is less sensitive to hyperthermia, so THI explains only 2% of the variation in MY levels. Thus, NH in arid regions have the ability to acclimatize to Saharan environmental conditions.

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of heat stress on adaptability and semen quality of buck. Almost similar 10 Black Bengal bucks were selected for the study at Artificial Insemination Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Prerequisite biological data were collected from each animal before keeping them sun heat and after 1 hour sun exposure. Different semen characteristics of each animal were measured. Temperature humidity index (THI) was 19.95 in the morning which indicate all the animals were in absence of heat stress and THI was 25.54 in the noon which indicate all the animals were in severe heat stress at noon. Buck 1 and buck 5 were more heat resistant (p<0.01), because their thermolysis capacity (TC) values were less than the others. There were no differences in tunica dartos index and semen characteristics among different bucks (p>0.05). Positive correlation between sperm motility and testis length (p<0.05), and negative correlation between sperm concentration and scrotal skin temperature (p<0.05) were found. From the study it can be concluded that all the bucks were in severe heat stress at noon time and TC can be used as an indicator for selection of buck for heat tolerance.J. Environ.
