Comparative taxonomic study has been compeleted for the species of the. genus Centaurium Hill. of Iraq. So the morphological characters were studied comparatively for the first time form Iraqi materials. Stems, leaves ,infloresences and reproductive organs characters were a good taxonomic importance. Geographical distrtribution has been done for the species of the genus in addition to the environment information. The results were presented with schedules, tables, maps and micrographs. Taxonomic key for the species separation was also presented.

A taxonomic review of Rhaponticoides in Iran is based on morphological characters of the specimens from the authors’ expeditions and other herbarium collections. Rhaponticoides lachnopus, R. schmidii, R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are proposed as new combinations. Full description for the genus Rhaponticoides and R. sect. Iranicae and R. sect. Ruthenicae are presented for the first time here. Three names, R. lachnopus, R. ruthenica and its synonym, are typified. A synopsis with recognized sections and species, relevant synonyms, type citations, lists of specimens examined and an identification key are provided for the genus Rhaponticoides in Iran. In addition, some notes about ecology and habitat of Rhaponticoides especially in Iran are given. Finally, the geographical distribution of all the 4 species recognized in Iran is presented and mapped.

Amictus pictus Loew, 1869 (Insecta: Diptera: Bombyliidae) is recorded here for the first time from Iran. The specimens were collected from northern Iran during 2010 and 2011. Morphological characters including female genitalia and geographical distribution of the newly recorded species are provided.

For the first time, micromorphology structure of seeds in 10 species (L. annuus, L. cicera, L. hirsutus, L. tuberosus, L. miniatus, L. pratensis, L. laxiflorus, L. aphaca, L. nissolia, L. sphaericus) belonging to sections (Lathyrus, Pratensis, Aphaca, Nissolia, Linearicarpus) of Lathyrus L. collected from various regions of Azerbaijan were analysed. Seed samples of 10 species were taken for analysis from different biotopes and different populations located away from one-another. Collected seed materials were gathered in special sterile paper bags and their moisture was dried with silicagel substance in laboratory conditions. During the research, morphological characters, as well as general shape, size and colour of seed, length and width of hilum were identified under Leica EZ4D stereomicroscope. The largest seeds have been measured in Lathyrus (L. cicera 4,4–5,0 mm) section and the smallest seeds in Nissolia (L. nissolia 1,8–2,3 mm) section. The longest hilum belongs to L. miniatus 1,8–2,8 mm and the smallest in L. Nissolia 0,4–0,7 mm. The width hilum was measured in L. annuus (0,7–1,0 mm) and the narrow hilum L. nissolia (0,1–0,3 mm). Mature seed (2–3) samples were selected from each type under the SEM, the seeds were placed on stools with double-sided adhesive tapes and covered with gold powder through the JEOL JFC1600 ion-spray device for 1 to 2 minutes. Seed samples were researched on the side surface. The photos of the surface of seeds were taken in a 3000× size in JEOL JSM6610 lv electronic microscope, and structural analysis of the different places of their surfaces was conducted. The results showed that the microscopic research of the surface of seed is of taxonomic importance and is used in specification of the status of sections. The morphological properties such as surface structure, hilum length and width, papillae features can be used to differentiate some sections and species, but seed size, general shape seed and hilum, seed colour are not characteristics can be used to differentiate some sections.

Taxonomic notes are presented on the former Ascalaphidae (owlflies), now subfamily Ascalaphinae of the family Myrmeleontidae from Pakistan. An updated checklist of new records is provided that accounts for all known 15 genera and 22 species from Pakistan, excluding the species of the tribe Palparini. Geographical distribution maps and an updated identification key to all known genera and species from Pakistan are also given. We synonymized two monotypic genera, Horischema Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 and Perissoschema Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 both as junior synonyms of Ogcogaster Westwood, 1847 based on very similar male genitalia and external morphological characters. Moreover, Perissoschema evae Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 is treated as a junior synonym of Ogcogaster segmentator Westwood, 1847. We recorded three genera for the first time from Pakistan, i.e., Acheron Lefèbvre, 1842, Glyptobasis McLachlan, 1873, and Suphalomitus van der Weele, 1909. To more completely resolve the generic or specific status of those poorly known species from Pakistan, broader sampling throughout the country is needed.

Cycas hongheensis was firstly proposed as a distinct taxon in 1994 and formally described two years later based on vegetative materials only. Here, the reproductive organs of this species, namely, the female cone, male cone and seeds are supplemented for description as these fertile materials were found for the first time at the type locality. Furthermore, the phylogenetic position of this species as being the only endemic member of Cycas sect. Indosinenses in China was investigated. The conflicting phylogenic results between chloroplastic (cpDNA) and nuclear DNA (nDNA) are corresponded with the inconformity characters of morphology of this species. The characters of lacking indumentum on ovules and the distinct apical spine of megasporophyll are corresponding to nDNA result while the characters such as the soft and rudimentary apical spine of the microsporophyll and the absence of fibrous layer inside the sarcotesta comform to cpDNA result. For the taxonomy, we agree this species to be classified into Cycas sect. Indosinenses for the obvious morphological characters of megasporophyll and ovule as well as deeper evidence from phylogeny based on nuclear data, as biparental inherited nuclear genes could offer more comprehensive genetic information than maternal inherited cpDNA.

The genus Punctulata Wang, 2006 is transferred from Oecophoridae to Autostichidae based on morphological characters and molecular data. Punctulata guangxiensis sp. nov. and P. novipalliptera sp. nov. are described as new based on the specimens collected in China. The females of P. palliptera Wang, 2006 and P. trunciformis Wang, 2006 are described for the first time. Images of male adults and male and female genitalia are provided for all the six Punctulata species along with a key to separate its species and a map showing their distribution.

New data on the taxonomy and distribution of three Calamagrostis (including Euroasian Deyeuxia) species (C. kokonorica, C. macilenta, and C. salina) in northwestern and northern China are discussed. Studies were undertaken on the morphological characters to establish relatedness or not of species, and identify characters of diagnostic importance. Chinese herbarium specimens of C. salina previously have been misidentified as Deyeuxia macilenta (= C. macilenta). All available for study Chinese specimens referred to this species should be identified as C. salina. Calamagrostis salina significantly differs from C. kokonorica and C. macilenta by the palea length, relative lengths of palea and lemma, and anther length. Calamagrostis salina is confirmed for Xinjiang, and reported for the first time from Gansu, Nei Mongol and Qinghai. Calamagrostis kokonorica is confirmed for Gansu and Qinghai. The presence of C. macilenta in China is in need of further confirmation. A revised key for C. salina and related species are provided. The descriptions of all taxa are accompanied by information on their geographical distribution in China and adjacent countries.

A taxonomic monograph of a re-circumscribed Leandra sect. Leandra is presented. The new circumscription is based on a previous phylogenetic hypothesis, and diagnostic morphological characters are discussed. Four new combinations to Leandra are proposed, one from Clidemia (L. capilliflora) and three from Ossaea (L. capitata, L. cogniauxii and L. loligomorpha). Additionally, eight species are treated as synonyms for the first time, and 15 lectotypes are designated. A review of the 17 recognized species, including descriptions, synonymy, illustrations and distribution maps, is provided. This work also includes an overview of general morphology, leaf and flower anatomy, phenology and geographical distribution. Species with a history of taxonomic problems and/or with distinctive morphotypes are further investigated with morphometrics tools.

The Australian Stephanidae (Hymenoptera) are revised and keyed. Three genera and 21 species (15 new) are recognised. The taxonomic importance of over 300 morphological characters, including 45 morphometric ratios, is assessed. The history of introduction and establishment of Schlettererius cinctipes in Australia is summarised. Stephanus crassicauda Morley is transferred to Megischus, the female is redescribed and the male is reported for the first time and compared with the female. Occurrence of the Neotropical genus Hemistephanus in Australia is refuted and M. giganteus (Girault) is synonymised with M. crassicauda (Morley). The groundplan of Australian Parastephanellus is described in detail and a new character set is proposed for taxonomic studies and descriptions of its species, P. albiceps Elliott is proposed as a junior synonym of P. damellicus (Westwood) and P. picticeps Roman is placed as species inquirendum. New taxa are Megischus ceneonatrix, Parastephanellus albigenuis, P. adiazetos, P. brevis, P. callidictyon, P. denotatus, P. isoglyptos, P. laevigatus, P. maculatus, P. platyceratus, P. squamatus, P. strigosus, P. tanytarsus, P. trifasciatus and P. vertipictus. Other valid species from Australia are P. caudatus Elliott and P. rufoornatus (Cameron).

The genus Cononedys Hermann, 1907 and its species, C. bituberculata Becker, 1915 are recorded for the first time from Iran. Specimens were collected with Malaise traps from northern Iran. Morphological characters including the first description of the female spermatheca and also geographical distribution of the newly recorded species are provided.
