The present work includes the preparation and characterization of{Co(II) , Ni(II), Pd(II), Fe(III) , Ru(III),Rh(III), Os(III) , Ir(III) , Pt(IV) and VO(IV)}complexes of a new ligand 4-[(1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-3-pyrozoline-5-one)azo]-N,N-dimethylanline (PAD). The product (PAD) was isolated,studies and characterized by phsical measurements,i.e., (FT-IR), (UV) Spectroscopy and elemental analysis(C.H.N). The prepared complexes were identified and their structural geometric were suggested in solid state by using flame atomic absorption, elemental analysis(C.H.N), (FT-IR) and (UV-Vis) Spectroscopy, as well as magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements . The study of the nature of the complexes formed in( ethanolic solution) following the mole ratio method,gave results which were compared successfully with those obtained from solid state studies. The apparent stability constant of the complexes have been studied with the time and their color were stable for more than ( 6 ) hours , as well as the molar absorptivities have been calculated.The antibacterial activity for the ligand (PAD) and their metal complexes were studied against two selected micro - organisms [(Klesbiella pneumonia) as gram negative] and[( Streptococcus faecalis) as gram positive]. Further more the antifungl activity against two micro-organism (Candida albicans and Aspergillus flavus) were studied for the ligand (PAD) and their metal complexes .

In this work lactone (1) was prepared from the reaction of p-nitro phenyl hydrazine with ethylacetoacetate, which upon treatment with benzoyl chloride afforded the lactame (2). The reaction of (2) with 2-amino phenol produced a new Schiff base (L) in good yield. Complexes of V(IV), Zr(IV), Rh(III), Pd(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) with the new Schiff base (L) have been prepared. The compounds (1, 2) were characterized by FT-IR and UV spectroscopy, as well as characterizing ligand (L) by the same techniques with elemental analysis (C.H.N) and (1H-NMR). The prepared complexes were identified and their structural geometries were suggested by using elemental analysis (C.H.N), flame atomic absorption technique, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, in addition to magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. Metal to ligand [M:L] ratio was obtained for all complexes in ethanol using molar ratio method, which gave comparable results with those obtained for the solid complexes. As well as the apparent stability constant of the complexes have been studied with the time and their color were stable for more than 4 hrs., furthermore the molar absorptivity have been calculated.

N-(3-Bromo-4-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzylidene)-4-Bromobenzenamine was synthesized. This was further used to synthesize Co(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) based metal complexes and characterized by FT-IR, Elemental analysis, ESI Mass and UV spectroscopy.

All the prepared metal complexes of Pt (IV), Au(III), Rh (III), Co (II) and V(IV) with new ligand sodium [5-(p-nitro phenyl)-/4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-dithiocarbamato hydrazide] (TRZ.DTC) have been synthesized and characterized in solid state by using flame atomic absorption, elemental analysis C.H.N.S, FT-IR ,UV-Vis Spectroscopy, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The nature of the complexes formed in ethanolic solution has been studied following the molar ratio method also was studied stability constant and found to be stable in molar ratio1:1 of VL (IV) and CoL(II) while Pt(IV), Au(III) and Rh(III) complexes stable in molar ratio 1:2 as well as the molar absorptivity for these complexes were calculated. From the previous analyses, octahedral geometry was suggested for Pt (IV), Rh (III) and Co (II) complexes, square planar was suggested for Au(III) complex while V(IV) complex has a square pyramidal. Cytotoxic effect of PtL, AuL and RhL as well as ligand has been evaluated against RD cell line by using four different concentrations (500, 250, 125 & 62.5 µg/ml) respectively in three exposure times 24, 48 and 72 hrs and compared this effect with control positive Cis-Pt.

A new Schiff base of 4- flourophenyl-4- nitrobenzyliden (L) ,was prepared and used to prepare a number of metal complexes with Cr (III) , Fe (III), Co(II) ,Ni (II) and Cu (II). These complexes were isolated and characterized by (FITR),UV-Vis spectroscopy and flame atomic absorption techniques in addition to magnetic susceptibility, and conductivity measurements. The study of the nature of the complexes formed in ethanol was done following the molar ratio method gave results, agreed with those obtained from isolated solid state studies. The antibacterial activity for the ligand and its metal complexes were examined against two selected microorganisms, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.The results indicated that the complexes show the enhanced activity in comparison to the free ligand; these were attributed to the synergetic effect between the metal ion and the ligand in addition to the difference in the structural varieties.

The ligand 4-amino-N-(5-methylisoxazole-3-yl)-benzene-sulfonamide(L1) (as a chelating ligand) was treated with Pd(II),Pt (IV) and Au(III) ions in alcoholic medium in order to prepare a series of new metal complexes. Mixed ligand complexes of this primary ligand were prepared in alcoholic medium in presence of the co-ligand 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridyl(L2) with Cu(II) ,Pd(II) and Au(III) ions. The complexes were characterized in solid state using flame atomic absorption, elemental analysis C.H.N.S, FT-IR, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The nature of some complexes formed in ethanolic solution has been studied following the molar ratio method, also stability constant was studied and the complexes found to be stable in molar ratio1:1.an octahedral geometry was suggested for PdL1L2, PtL1and AuL1L2 complexes, square planar was suggested for AuL1 and PdL1complexes,while CuL1L2 complex has a square pyramidal geometry. Cytotoxic effect of theprepared complexes as well as ligands was evaluated against Hep-2 cell line using four different concentrations (625, 1250, 2500&5000 µg/ml) respectively in an exposure time 48 hrs comparing this effect with control positive Cis-Pt as reference drug. The obtained results refers to the higher inhibition rates of all complexes and their ligands and ligand (L1) and its complexes give more activity against tested cell than ligand (L2) and its complexes comparable with control positive .

The reaction of methyldopa with o-vanillin in refluxing ethanol afforded Schiff base and characterized through physical analysis with a number of spectra also the study of biological activity. The geometry of the Schiff base was identified through using (C.H.N) analysis, Mass, 1H-NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy. Metal complexes of Cr3+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ with Schiff base have been prepared in the molar ratio 2:1 (Metal:L), (L = Schiff base ligand) except Hg2+ at molar ratio 1:1 (Hg:L). The prepared complexes were characterized by using Mass, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectral studies, on other than magnetic properties and flame atomic absorption, conductivity measurements. According to the results a dinuclear octahedral geometry has been suggested for Cr3+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ complexes, dinuclear tetrahedral for Cd2+ and mononuclear tetrahedral for Hg2+ complex. This work highlights the relevance of metal complexation strategy to stabilize the ligands and improve their bioactivity. Schiff base complexes have been screen for their antibacterial activity against Gram negative and positive bacteria and antifungal activity showing promising antibacterial and biological activity.

2-benzamide benzothiazole complexes of Pd(II) , Pt(IV) and Au(III) ions were prepared by microwave assisted radiation. The ligand and the complexes were isolated and characterized in solid state by using FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, flame atomic absorption, elemental analysis CHNS , magnetic susceptibility measurements , melting points and conductivity measurements. The nature of complexes in liquid state was studied by following the molar ratio method which gave results approximately identical to those obtained from isolated solid state; also, stability constant of the prepared complexes were studied and found that they were stable in molar ratio 1:1.The complexes have a sequar planner geometry except Pt(IV) complex has octahedral . A theoretical treatment of ligand and its metal complexes in gas phase were studied using HyperChem-8 program, moreover, ligand in gas phase also has been studied using Gaussian program(GaussView Currently Available Version (5.0.9) along with Gaussian 09 which was the latest in the Gaussian series of programs).

Schiff base ligand 2,2-{benzene-1,4-diylbis[(E)methylylidene(1E,2E)hydrazine-2,1-diylidene(E)methylidene]}diphenol (H2-BHMD) was synthesized by reacting together the ortho vaniline and 1,4-bis(hydrazonomethyl)benzene. It was characterized by analytical and spectroscopic techniques including 1H-NMR, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and UV-Visible studies. Different transition metal ions like Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and Zn (II) were reacted with well characterized ligand to obtain the metal derivatives. AAS, elemental analysis, FT-IR, molar conductance and UV-Visible methods were used to study the metal complexes. The analytical and spectroscopic technique suggested the formation of coordination polymers. The FT-IR results confirmed the bidentate binding of the ligand involving phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen. The UV-visible studies suggested the formation of distorted square planar geometries for all the metal complexes. Hydrazone Schiff bases are known for their antioxidant activity, therefore the synthesized hydrazone and the corresponding metal complexes were also studied for their antioxidant capabilities utilizing DPPH free radicals. Among all complexes, the Co-BHMD demonstrated noteworthy percent hindrance to the free radicals, yet much lower than the standard medication utilized. The metal subsidiaries were likewise studied for their thermal degradation. The respective TG bands were utilized for dynamic and thermodynamic parameters estimation utilizing Horowitz-Metzger strategy.

Organophosphate (OP) compounds, a family of highly hazardous chemical compounds included in nerve agents and pesticides, have been linked to more than 250,000 annual deaths connected to various chronic diseases. However, a solid-state sensing system that is able to be integrated into a clothing system is rare in the literature. This study aims to develop a nanofiber-based solid-state polymeric material as a soft sensor to detect OP compounds present in the environment. Esters of polydiacetylene were synthesized and incorporated into a cellulose acetate nanocomposite fibrous assembly developed with an electrospinning technique, which was then hydrolyzed to generate more hydroxyl groups for OP binding. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Instron® tensile tester, contact angle analyzer, and UV–Vis spectroscopy were employed for characterizations. Upon hydrolysis, polydiacetylene esters in the cellulosic fiber matrix were found unaffected by hydrolysis treatment, which made the composites suitable for OP sensing. Furthermore, the nanofibrous (NF) composites exhibited tensile properties suitable to be used as a textile material. Finally, the NF composites exhibited colorimetric sensing of OP, which is visible to the naked eye. This research is a landmark study toward the development of OP sensing in a protective clothing system.

A new Schiff base o-hydroxybenzylidene-1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-amino-3-pyrazolin-5-on (HL) ,have been prepared and characterization.(HL) has been used as a chelating ligand to prepare a number of metal complexes VO(II) ,Cr(III) ,Mn(II),Fe(II),Hg(II) and UO2(II) .and mixed ligands complexes have been prepared between o-hydroxybenzylidene-1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-amino-3-pyrazolin-5-on and 8- hydroxy quinoline with VO(II),Zn(II),Cd(II), Hg(II) and UO2(II) the prepared complexes were isolated and characterized by (FT-IR)and (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. Elemental analysis (C.H.N) Chloride contents, Flame atomic absorption technique. in addition to magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurement. Molar ratio measurement in solution gave comparable results with those obtained from solid state study.
