Installation of Long Span Boat Landing on Float Over Platforms - A Case Study

Abstract Fixed offshore platforms are normally provided with landing platforms that enable berthing of supply vessels, crew boats etc. These landing platforms or ‘Boat landings’ are energy absorption structures provided on substructures (jackets) of offshore platforms. Their purpose is to facilitate personnel access from vessel to platforms for performing various tasks including manning the platform, its maintenance etc. Vessel also approach the platforms for providing supplies in case of a manned platform and for providing bunkers, spares etc. As such, boat landing is an integral part of offshore platform and its design and installation becomes equally important. They are preferably located at leeward direction as far as practical, to avoid accidental vessel drift into the platform. For smaller standalone offshore platforms installed with Heavy Lift Crane Vessels, boat landing is installed after the jacket is piled to seabed. Since sequence of installation of boat landing is prior to that of Topside, such installations are straightforward and without obstructions from the Topside. For the bigger accommodation, production, process platforms located in super-complex (or standalone) with topsides installed by float over method, boat landings sometimes are in the wide float over barge slots. In such cases, installation of boat landing becomes very critical due to the post installation after the Topside and associated obstructions from the Topside. This is similar or more critical than a boat landing removal / refurbishment activity carried for a brownfield project. This paper explores the challenges and associated steps adopted to execute the safe installation of these critical structures underneath a newly installed Topside. This case study details the installation of ∼300mt boat landings onto recently installed Greenfield platforms in Arabian Gulf using efficient rigging, suiting the EPC Contractors’ crane assets.

Nowadays, there are a lot of oil and gas exploration activities all over the world, especially offshore. Oil and gas production itself has many supporting factors in the production process, of which one of them is the offshore platform. Over time, the offshore platform will experience a degradation in strength from the initial design, therefore offshore platforms need to carry out appropriate inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) programs so that the offshore platform does not reach critical conditions and disrupt the oil and gas production process, resulting in significant losses and not achieving the planned production rates. The offshore platform design is a combination of steel structure and other materials, methods, and loads that are initially worked at the port, such as wave loads, currents, and several other parameters such as gravity, wind, and earthquake. Most of the offshore platforms that currently exist (worldwide) were made in the period of oil investment that developed between 1970 and 1980, thus, the platform's age has now reached 40 to 50 years (El-Reedy, 2012). This research data based on a platform in the Makassar strait between the islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. The method used in this research is the platform's design, data observation, data analysis, data processing, and statistical multilinear regression analysis. This research is investigating the degradation trend of the offshore platform and predicting the future of potential failure because of corrosion and marine growth. After the platform encounters degradation over several years, it will decrease the service life before the degradation starts to matter. The results show after data processing that, offshore platforms encounter degradation over several years, and it is presented by a graph containing the condition trend over a multi-year condition because of corrosion and marine growth, and its effect towards unity check (UC) that define structure health. Unity check value produced from allowable stress versus capacity. In this research, structural health monitoring is predicting the potential failure of the platform towards its UC effect of corrosion and marine growth, with a max of the UC value is 0.8 because its a critical value. The failure of the structure possibly would have an affect on the cost-effectiveness. Therefore it is necessary to predict when the structure will fail so that the costs used are effective. Unfortunately, there is no core data for the environmental changes every year at the platform, so the model's equation does not include environmental conditions.

Over the years, value co-creation practices have become increasingly more important by supporting collaborative interactions and the achievement of sustainable and mutual competitive advantage between the ecosystem’ actors. In this direction, the oil and gas industry is proposing a sustainable re-use of offshore platforms based on value co-creation and resources exchange between the actors involved. According to this consideration, this work aims at re-reading the decommissioning of offshore platforms in the light of value co-creation practices, trying to capture the factors that governments and companies can leverage to pursue a sustainable development of local communities. To reach this goal, this work follows an exploratory approach by using, in particular, the case study. Specifically, one of the most notably projects in the Italian context have been chosen, the Paguro platform, in order to provide empirical insights into the nature of these value co-creation processes. Five value co-creation practices have been identified which highlight the importance of synergistic efforts of institutions, companies and technology-based platforms for improving the ability to co-create and capture value in the process of decommissioning. This exploratory work establishes a foundation for future research, and offers theoretical and managerial guidance in this increasingly important area.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to provide an overview of the strategy and management of the Friday Khutbah production process at the Al-Falah Mosque in Surabaya as its object. The method used by researchers in this research is a case study with data collection procedures using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. So that researchers can explore the phenomenon of the object of research in detail and depth. The findings that occur in the field show results that are sharpened by descriptive descriptions of several categories of production. First, the process of determining the idea of the Friday sermon program at Al-Falah Mosque. Second, for the selection mechanism for Friday sermons at Al-Falah Mosque. Third, the design of the Friday sermon program at Al-Falah Mosque. Fourth, testing and evaluating the Friday sermon program at Al-Falah Mosque. Fifth, the final design of the Friday sermon program at Al-Falah Mosque.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini ditujukan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai strategi dan manajemen proses produksi khutbah Jum’at di Masjid Al-Falah Surabaya sebagai objeknya.  Metode yang digunakan oleh peneliti dalam penelitian ini ialah studi kasus dengan prosedur pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara secara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Sehingga peneliti dapat menggali fenomena pada objek penelitian secara rinci dan mendalam. Temuan yang terjadi di lapangan menunjukkan hasil yang dipertajam dengan uraian deskriptif mengenai beberapa kategori produksi khubah. Offshore pipeline is mainly to transport crude oil and gas from offshore to onshore. It is also used to transport crude oil and gas from well to offshore platform and from platform to another platform. The crude oil and gas horizontally flows on the seabed, and then vertically flows inside the riser to the offshore platform. One of current issues of the oil and gas transportation system is an end expansion caused by the axial force. If the end expansion occurs over it limit can cause overstress to riser. This paper explores the effect of axial force toward local buckling in end expansion. In the study, development of programming in visual basic 2010 firstly was constructed using empirical equation. The programming code, then, was validated by comparing simulation result with actual data from company. As case study, the end expansion for various thicknesses of pipes was simulated. In this programming, DNV regulation is included for checking either design complied or not with regulation. However, DNV regulation doesn’t have specific rule regarding the end expansion but it is evaluated under load displacement control under strain condition.

Abstract Tofu contains various substances that are very good when consumed to improve people’s nutrition. In addition, tofu also has good taste. The problem is that the tofu production process produces products and non-product outputs in the form of waste that is very dangerous if directly disposed of in the environment. The BOD5 content of tofu small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Sugihmanik Village ranged from 3,667-4,933 mg/L and COD 7,668-9,736 mg/L. At the same time, the TSS values ranged from 701-1,189 mg/L. The BOD5 value in the river water content is 367 mg/L. It greatly exceeds the set Threshold Value. This study aims to measure the environmental impact using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA can identify the impact of each activity based on the impact category to identify the processes that contribute significantly to damaging the environment. This study found that the cooking and frying process had the highest impact, where the climate change category was the largest. Wastewater treatment plants, biogas from the biodigester as a substitute for electricity for water pumps, rice husks, and corn cobs are expected to reduce environmental impacts. The aim of this research is to reduce a number of defects during a feed pellet production process to improve customer satisfaction. A factory case study produces the feed pellets for several species such as food for pigs, chickens, and ducks. Production data from January to June 2017 manufacturing found that the manufacturing defects rate were about 3.32%. The data showed that the overall defects originated from different problems; 1) cracked or broken food; 2) high humidity; 3) distorted of product color; and 4) an ingredient error, respectively. Statistical methods, design analysis, and cause analysis techniques e.g. the Ishikawa diagram, Pareto chart, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) were applied to help the factory to identify the main root cause of the defects and the potential failure modes of the factory case study. Due to an increasing number of complaints, this study only concentrated on the duck feed pellet production process. The study was divided into two parts: finding the root cause of the defects, which are the most critical factors for further analysis, and applying an experimental statistical design to decrease the number of defects during the duck pellet production process. The problem with cracked or broken pellets (dust) was found as the main factor affecting the production defects. Results showed that the main factors contributing to the amount of dusk in the duck feed productions came from three factors as follow: the thickness of die, distance between compression rollers and die, and time and temperature of mill machine needed during compressing the duck feed pellet production. Both the fractional factorial experimental design, 2k and 3k, were used to evaluate the influence of each factor on the duck feed production defects. The results by using the factorial 2K experimental show that the most important variable in duck pellets production were thickness of the die, distance between compression rollers and die, and temperature of mill machine needed during compressing the duck feed pellet production while time was not an interaction effect in this problem. The 3k factorial design was used to determine the interaction effects for the duck pellets production process. The experiment was ran and tested for 3 months. The final outcomes showed a significant reduction of defects from 2.51% to 1.09% (P<0.01). The results indicated that thickness -20 mm. of the die, 0.05 mm of distance between compression rollers and die, and 95 degree Celsius of temperature of mill machine needed during compressing the duck feed pellet production would be the most appropriate set of pelleting machine for the duck production process case study.
