Abstract Background: The latest outbreak of coronavirus (2019-nCoV), emerging in Wuhan, China, has spread exponentially in 2019.Case presentation: In the present study, we documented a case of COVID-19 in an Iranian patient for laparoscopic cholecystectomy and established the diagnosis, symptoms, and treatments of the case in order to provide non-emergent surgical procedure triage guidelines. Conclusions: This case highlights the importance of good collaboration between doctors and the authorities of public health in Iran, plus the demand for urgent exchange of clinical experience and knowledge with regard to the treatment of this infectious disease.

Abstract Background We report a rare case of chronic brucellosis accompanied with myelodysplastic syndrome and neutrophilic dermatosis, which to the best of our knowledge, has never been reported. Case presentation A young man was admitted to our hospital complaining of recurrent fever, arthritis, rashes and anemia. He had been diagnosed with brucellosis 6 years prior and treated with multiple courses of antibiotics. He was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and neutrophilic dermatosis following bone marrow puncture and skin biopsy. After anti-brucellosis treatment and glucocorticoid therapy, the symptoms improved. Conclusions Clinicians should consider noninfectious diseases when a patient who has been diagnosed with an infectious disease exhibits changing symptoms.

Abstract Background Breast augmentation with implants continues to be the most popular aesthetic surgical procedure performed worldwide. Fat grafting may improve the results of breast augmentation and breast reconstruction with implants. However, fat grafting to the breast with implants carries the risk of implant puncture. To our best knowledge this is the first case in which polyurethane implant puncture during fat grafting is described. Case presentation We report multiple bilateral implant punctures with the cannula during fat grafting in a patient who previously underwent breast reconstruction with polyurethane implants. Conclusions Implants that promote tissue ingrowth may be more prone to puncture with the cannula during fat grafting. Specific planning and surgical maneuvers decrease the risk of implant puncture. Case presentation in which a 12-years-old boy presented with two large gingival recessions on the maxillary central incisors, secondary to a lateral luxation. In the surgical procedure, an acellular dermal matrix graft (ADMG) was placed as a substitute for a free gingival graft.Twelve months later, complete root coverage was achieved, showing that ADMG, a biomaterial recently developed for mucogingival surgery, can be successfully used in the treatment of gingival recessions in pediatric patients.

AbstractIntroduction. Complete edentulism is escorted by various comorbidities, which affect an individual. The management of edentulous patients was approached since the early days of dentistry.The aim of this case report was to present the implanto-prosthetic rehabilitation of a bimaxillary complete edentulous patient with implant-supported overdentures, by using Straumann dental implants.Case presentation. This case report presents the applied treatment to a bimaxillary complete edentulous patient, where the predictable osseointegration and implant stability after the placement of implants was possible, with the purpose to support the overdentures.Conclusions. The oral rehabilitation of complete bimaxillary edentulism through implant-supported overdentures is a procedure with a predictive treatment that presents beneficial aspects in the quality of life of the patients.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> Primary encephalocele is a rare deformity that is challenging for the neurosurgeon. It requires a multidisciplinary team for adequate reconstructive surgery. <b><i>Case Presentation:</i></b> We report the case of a 6-month-old African boy who presented with a frontoethmoidal encephalocele; we present a technical description of the surgical procedure, using no implant. <b><i>Discussion/Conclusion:</i></b> The postoperative evolution of the boy was uneventful, with a good clinical result at the follow-up.

Background: Kytococcus species has not been considered a pathogen, but infections caused by this species are increasing. There are several cases of infections caused by Kytococcus sedentarius, but no case of infectious spondylitis has been reported yet. Case presentation: A 79-year-old female patient was hospitalized because of back pain for several months. She was diagnosed with infectious spondylitis, and K. sedentarius was cultured from the pus and specimen obtained during the surgical procedure. The patient recovered completely without recurrence after 6 months of treatment with ciprofloxacin alone for 8 weeks. Conclusion: This is the first case report of infectious spondylitis caused by K. sedentarius.

The Common

A case report of the patient at week 21 of pregnancy with Mirizzi type 2 syndrome complicated by acute cholangitis is described. During the examination, the level and cause of the biliary obstruction (cholecystocholedocheal fistula and gallstone of the common bile duct) were revealed. A detailed description of the surgical procedure is presented: subtotal laparoscopic cholecystectomy, choledochotomy, choledochoscopy, lithoextraction, drainage of the common bile duct. The analysis of information from literature sources is carried out.

Abstract Background: A newly infectious diseases named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in China and now has spread in many countries, and constituted a public health emergency of international concern. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is used as salvage therapies in critical COVID-19 patients with respiratory/cardiac failure. Case presentation: A 49-year-old female patient was diagnosed with COVID-19 and progressed to critical cases, she was successfully treated with the application of awake extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. This case is the first reported successfully treatment of application awake ECMO in critical COVID-19 patient in China.Conclusions: Here we present the first reported successfully treatment of application awake ECMO in critical COVID-19 patient, however, whether awake ECMO can be widely used in the treatment of critical COVID-19 patients need more practice.

Abstract Background: Cystic artery stump pseudoaneurysm (CASP) is a potentially life-threating condition that can be related to multiple etiologies, especially the iatrogenic factor owing to the increased number of hepatobiliary procedures. Most patients present with haemobilia. Here we report a rare case of unusual presentation of CASP with recurrent haemobilia and hematochezia. Case presentation: A 38-year-old patient developed bile duct injury after laparoscopic cholecystectomy which was identified by magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP). Later, she developed haemobilia due to CASP which was then treated by trans-arterial embolization (TAE) followed by fresh bleeding per rectum one month later. The latter complication eventually required surgical ligation.Conclusions: CASP is a rare complication after cholecystectomy that can present as upper gastrointestinal bleeding or rarely as fresh bleeding per rectum. Abstract Background The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus remains a major threat to public health. At present, it is recommended that patients with known or suspected COVID-19 undergo quarantine or medical observation for 14 days. However, recurrent SARS-CoV-2 RNA positivity and prolonged viral shedding have been documented in convalescent COVID-19 patients, complicating efforts to control viral spread and ensure patient recovery. Case presentation We report the case of a patient who experienced two recurrent episodes of SARS-CoV-2 RNA and IgM positivity and viral shedding over 60 days during hospitalization. Conclusions This case report demonstrates that relapses of SARS-CoV-2 RNA and IgM positivity may occur even after COVID-19 symptoms have resolved, possibly as a consequence of prolonged viral shedding rather than re-infection.
