Abstract   INTRODUCTION: Self-care management has become a theoretical discussion among health professionals and students. As a result of its importance, the International Council for Nurses has incorporated it in their standard of competence. Self-care encourages health and is a fundamental value of the scope and standards of practice. Nursing students are advised to have proper self-care.   METHOD: This study investigated the self-care management practices of nursing students at the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) and how they align with the institutional outcomes. This quantitative study conveniently samples 47 nursing students as respondents. The study adopted the Circle of Human Potential ' questionnaire by Dossey and Keegan (2009), which assessed self-care management in the areas of physical, relationship, emotional, spiritual, mental, and choice. The application for SPSS 23 was used for the descriptive and t-test analysis as demanded by the research questions.    RESULTS: The results of the study revealed that there is a positive self-care management attitude among nursing students. The ranked of self-care management from highest to the least in the order of spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, choice, and physical assessments. It further revealed that there was no significant difference in self-care management when considering the sex of the students.   DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION: The outcomes of the study were in accordance with the AUP institutional outcomes of spirituality, critical thinking, professional expertise, service, health and wellness, and positive attitude. The study recommends that nursing students keep up with their positive self-care management.

Hypertension is a health problem that needs attention because of its high morbidity and mortality. hypertension must be treated properly because it causes various kinds of complications. Compliance becomes a form of independence in the management of patients, especially those with hypertension, in the form of a framework that focuses on selfcare. The purpose of this study is to review the literature to determine the percentage of self care management of hypertensive patients. The literature search method was carried out through the CINAHL, DOAJ, and Pubmed database and obtained 30 research articles and then examined the completeness of the menus in the research articles with a total of 15 articles. After that, the criteria  and  stages of  critical  review were  carried out  using the  Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) format with a total of 10 articles that were reviewed by literature. The results showed that hypertension self management was in the good category. Further research is needed to provide an intervention strategy for hypertensive patients to improve self-care practices and control of related factors.

BACKGROUND There is a strong need to improve medication adherence (MA) for hypertensive patients in order to reduce long-term hospitalization costs. We believe this can be achieved through an AI agent that helps the patient in understanding key individual adherence risk factors and designing an appropriate intervention plan. The incidence of hypertension in Sweden is estimated at approximately 27%. Among American adults diagnosed with hypertension only 54% had their condition under control; another 32% had prehypertension-level blood pressure. The direct and indirect healthcare costs due to uncontrolled hypertension in the US alone are estimated at 49 billion dollars each year. It is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and stroke as well as heart failure. MA is a key factor for good clinical outcomes in hypertensive patients. OBJECTIVE The overall aim of this study is to design, develop, test, and evaluate an adaptive digital intervention called iMedA, delivered via a mobile app to improve MA and self-care management, and in longer-term blood pressure control, for persons with hypertension. METHODS The study design is considered to be an interrupted time series (ITS). We will collect data on a daily basis, 14 days before, during 6 months of delivering digital interventions through the mobile app, and after that. The effect will be analyzed using segmented regression analysis. The participants will be recruited in Region Halland, Sweden. The design of the digital interventions follows the Just-In-Time Adaptive Intervention (JITAI) framework. The primary (distal) outcome is MA, and the secondary outcome is blood pressure. The design of the digital intervention is developed based on a need assessment process including a systematic review, focus group interviews, and a pilot study, before going for the longitudinal ITS study. RESULTS The focus groups of persons with hypertension have been conducted to perform the need assessment. The design and development of digital interventions is under progress and is planned to be ready in September 2020. Then the 2-week pilot study for usability evaluation will get started, and then the ITS study will follow it, which we plan to start in October 2020. CONCLUSIONS We hypothesize that iMedA will improve medication adherence and self-care management. This study could illustrate how self-care management tools can be an additional (digital) treatment support to a clinical one without increasing burden on healthcare staff. Hypertension is a condition that affects most of the population throughout the world and is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Hypertension-related knowledge and practice such as life style modification, physical activity, nutrition etc. plays an important role in controlling and preventing its long-term complications of hypertension. Therefore the purpose of the study was to find out the awareness of hypertensive patients about their own disease and self care practices. A cross-sectional descriptive study was done in the Pokhara sub metropolitan-13 (10% of total toles). Data was collected with all the respondents who were taking anti-hypertensive medicine of that area, which included 67 respondents. Data was collected from July to August, 2015 with structured interview schedule and data analysis was done by using SPSS version 16. Eighty six percent of the respondents were aware about hypertension. Most of the respondents (64%) belonged to the age group of 60 and above with mean age of 65.21±11.92 years, 60% were male, 71.6% were literate and 38.8% were diagnosed as hypertension since 1 to 5 years. Fifty two percent of the respondents have positive family history of Hypertension. The awareness regarding hypertension seems good but less self care practices among the study population was revealed. Therefore, efforts should be made towards improving the lifestyle modification of hypertensive patients through the initiation of motivational strategies and interventions such as free health camps, mobilization of Community Health Volunteers to encourage the public towards self care practices. Janapriya Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, Vol. 6 (December 2017), page: 110-120
