Electrical energy generating from power plant is transmitted to electrical substations via high-voltage transmission lines. After a certain period time of use, the transmission line is required for maintenance such as insulator replacement. To avoid power interruption during insulator replacement, a corrective maintenance, hot line maintenance, is performed. This research focused on the hot line insulator replacement of 230 kV Bangsapan-Chumporn and 230 kV Chumporn-Suratthani transmission lines transferring power between southern and central regions of Thailand. The maintenance of 230 kV double suspension string for two bundles with arcing horn required developed C.B.T. hot end yoke tool to enhance stability and availability of electrical energy during hot line insulator replacement. C.B.T was named by the initial letter of the name of Chumporn Bandon and Takuapa transmission lines under authorization of the maintenance section in responsible maintaining service of transmission lines in upper southern provinces. The developed C.B.T hot end yoke device for hot line insulator replacement could save about 2.67 million bahts during 7-hour of maintenance time of EGAT payment.

This paper presents a multiple time-step solver based on a time-domain explicit integration algorithm for improving the computational speed of high-voltage transmission line electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation. For weakly rigid EMT models of high-voltage transmission lines, the previous precise Runge-Kutta integration method with a small time step is adopted; for strongly rigid nonlinear EMT models of high-voltage transmission lines, a an improved precise integration method using a large time step is used for the solver of EMT simulation. Practical simulations for overvoltages of high-voltage transmission line show that multiple time-step EMT solver can be applied to different cases of EMT simulation for transmission line.

On-line monitoring of high voltage transmission lines can prevent or reduce the accidents of transmission reduced by icing, wave, breeze vibrations of electric wires and the dropping of electrical insulators. An on-line monitoring system of high voltage transmission lines based on optical fiber sensing technology is setted in this paper.Fiber optic signal demodulation instrument in the transformer substation receives the signal sent by the optical fiber Bragg grating sensors fitted on transmission lines and electric power towers, and then the signal was sent to the transmission line monitoring center by the power system network.Field hang net experiments shows that the system can monitor the high voltage transmission lines accurately for a long time.

Aiming at the problem that the suspension clamp is difficult to be quickly replaced due to the heavy load of the suspension clamp when replacing the transmission line wire suspension clamp in the UHV live operation, this paper develops an auxiliary device for realizing the rapid replacement of the conductor suspension clamp. Through the design of fixtures suitable for the installation of UHV wires and connecting plates, the load transfer of the suspension clamp can be quickly realized, and the suspension clamp can be separated and replaced under the condition of no force. The device is flexible and light, and effectively improves the live working personnel work efficiency.

Any artificial infrastructure built in a territory causes changes in its environment, especially when it is a question of large or extensive infrastructures such as high-voltage transmission lines (HVTLs). Such changes are perceived unevenly by the different groups affected or involved. However, all of them can obstruct the development of a project of this type of infrastructure. For this reason, it is increasingly necessary to manage the stakeholders in the different phases of the development of an HVTL project. This article presents the methodological proposal designed to add the management of stakeholders’ opinions by integrating it into the geodesign-based workflow for the development of HVTL projects, giving geographic meaning to each of their opinions, allowing their analysis together with the rest of the geospatial information of the project, reusing the “feedback-iteration-consensus” mechanisms, discovering interactions and synergies or incompatibilities, improving the understanding and finally facilitating the consensus of all parties. In this way, it is possible to manage the development of the projects with a single workflow, in which the results are obtained (development stages) and the decisions that are adopted are used both for the technical part and for the management of the project’s stakeholders.

The article shows the urgency of the problem of studying resonant processes in extra high voltage power lines. The research of processes in extra high voltage power transmission lines is carried out to develop and implement measures to prevent overvoltages. Resonant overvoltages arising because of open phase modes of operation of the extra high voltage transmission line are considered. The paper shows the influence of the levels of longitudinal asymmetry on the calculation of the resistances of compensating reactors to reduce the values of overvoltages in the pause of single-phase automatic reclose. The degree of influence of the wire transposition scheme on the choice of the resistance of the compensation reactor and on the values of resonant overvoltages in the cycle of single-phase automatic reclose is considered. Estimation of asymmetry coefficients for different transposition schemes is performed. To select the resistance of the compensation reactor, the data of the existing high-voltage transmission lines of 750 kV were taken. Recommendations for the implementation of measures to prevent and limit resonant overvoltages are given. The current theoretical and practical problems of operation of the extra high voltage power line are considered and the ways of further research are shown. References 14, figures 5, tables 2.
