A multicomponent one-pot atom-economic reaction is performed for an efficient synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol from aromatic aldehydes, β-naphthol and amide/urea promoted by hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP). Various techniques such as stirring, microwave irradiation and thermal technique (hot plate and oil bath) were used in different solvents for the synthesis of 1- amidoalkyl-2-naphthol derivatives with moderate to excellent yield. Among the four methods, microwave irradiation and oil bath heating provide high yield as compared to the hot plate heating and stirring method. The low yield may be due to the formation of undesired side-products due to non-uniform heating.

AbstractA one-pot multi-component reaction is developed for the efficient synthesis of 4,5-dibenzylidene octahydroacridines in high yields. The reaction is performed by the tandem reaction of three molar equivalent aromatic aldehydes with two molar equivalent 4-alkylcyclohexanone in the system of NH4OAc/HOAc under microwave irradiation.

A new method for the fast synthesis of diverse 4-aryl-6-cycloamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-amines was developed. The synthesis is performed under microwave irradiation in a one-pot manner from cyanoguanidine, aromatic aldehydes, and cyclic amines. Their three-component reaction in the presence of hydrochloric acid produced dihydrotriazines, which were then converted (without isolation) to the targeted compounds via aromatic dehydrogenation in the presence of alkali. The reaction tolerated various aromatic aldehydes (including heterocyclic) and cyclic amines. Crystal structures of two representative 4-aryl-6-morpholino-1,3,5-triazin-2-amines were established by X-ray crystallography. The results of preliminary biological screening identified potent antileukemic activity for 6-(3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)-4-phenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine.

One-pot efficient protocol to the synthesis of 2-amino-5-oxo-4,5-dihydropyrano(3,2-c)chromene-3-carbonitrile derivatives via condensation of various aryl aldehydes, dicyanomethane and 4-hydroxycoumarin in presence of Emim hydroxide as an excellent homogeneous liquid catalyst. The key advantages of this methodology are mild reaction conditions, novel catalyst, short reaction time, eco-friendly, easy work-up procedure and high yield of isolation of derivatives.

Background: A Lewis acid promoted efficient and facile procedure for one-pot synthesis of a novel series of fluoroquinolone clubbed with thiadiazoles motifs under microwave irradiation is described here. This technique has more advantages such as high yield, a clean procedure, low reaction time, simple work-up and use of Lewis acid catalyst. Objective: Our aim is to generate a biologically active 1,3,4- thiadiazole ring system by using a onepot synthesis method and microwave-assisted heating. High yield and low reaction time were the main purposes to synthesize bioactive fluoroquinolone clubbed 1,3,4- thiadiazole moiety. Methods: Fluoroquinolone Clubbed 1,3,4-Thiadiazole Motifs was prepared by Lewis acid promoted, one-pot synthesis, under microwave irradiation. All the synthesized molecules were determined by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and Mass spectra. The antimicrobial activity of synthesized compounds was examined against two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes), and three fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus clavatus) using the MIC (Minimal Inhibitory Concentration) method and antitubercular activity H37Rv using L. J. Slope Method. Results: Lewis acid promoted, one-pot synthesis of Fluoroquinolone clubbed 1,3,4-Thiadiazole motifs under microwave irradiation is an extremely beneficial method because of its low reaction time and good yield. Some of these novel derivatives showed moderate to good in vitro antibacterial, antifungal, and antitubercular activity. Conclusion: One-pot synthesis of 1,3,4-Thiadiazole by using Lewis acid catalyst gives a good result for saving time and also getting more production of novel heterocyclic compounds with good antimicrobial properties via microwave heating method.

AbstractEfficient syntheses of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones and the corresponding thioxo derivatives using 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (DBH) catalysis of a one-pot three-component Biginelli reaction of aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate, and urea or thiourea under microwave irradiation are described. The advantages of this method are its short reaction times, high yields of the products, inexpensive and commercially available catalyst, and solvent-free conditions. Typical isolated yields exceed 70 % for arylaldehydes (9 examples) and aliphatic aldehydes (2 examples).

Different aromatic aldehydes and cinnamaldehyde undergo cross-aldol condensation with chroman-4-ones and1-thiochroman-4-ones in the presence of amberlyst-15 under microwave irradiation in solvent free condition to afford rapidly the correspondingE-3-arylidene andE-3-cinnamylidene derivatives, respectively, in high yield. This process is simple, efficient and environmentally benign.

The Ce-ZSM-11 zeolite has been used as an efficient catalyst for the one pot synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives from aromatic aldehyde and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclohexane-1,3-dione under reflux condition. The catalyst was characterized by Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Brunauer-Emmer-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, and Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD) techniques. This method provides several advantageous such as use of inexpensive catalyst, simple work-up procedure, high yield of desired product and reusability of catalyst. Copyright © 2018 BCREC Group.
