Introduction: Carcinoma of the uterine cervix is seventh most common malignancy globally, however, it is the most common neoplasm among rural In¬dian women. Skin metastases is rare even in the late stages of the disease, the reported inci-dence ranges from 0.1 to 2%.Frequent sites of cutaneous metastasis are abdominal wall, vulva and anterior chest wall. Case History: Fifty four years female of carcinoma cervix FIGO stage IIIB was radically treated with concurrent chemoradiation. On follow, after 10 months, she presented with multiple subcutaneous nodules in the right forearm and arm along with lung metastasis. Fine needle aspiration cytology from the nodular lesions was positive for squamous cell carcinoma. She was given chemotherapy but expired within eight months. Conclusion: Skin metastasis is considered as an ominous sign of widespread terminal disease with short survival.

An 83-year-old Caucasian Greek man was referred by his general practitioner to the emergency department of the general hospital in Crete because of seizures and agitation. His past medical history was negative for any neurological or medical condition. Electroencephalogram showed a bradyarrhythmic theta activity, without evidence of any focal or other specific abnormality. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain demonstrated a number of diffuse nodular lesions and moderate perivascular edema. An axillary lymph node fine needle aspiration cytology suggested a granulomatous lymphadenitis along with signs of tuberculous infiltration. Tuberculin skin test was positive. We report a rare case of extrapulmonary tuberculosis mimicking brain metastatic lesions.

ABSTRACTCutaneous myxomas are rare benign neoplasms which are frequently associated with Carney complex (CNC). Although more than 500 cases of CNC are reported, there is no literature on cytologic diagnosis of Cutaneous myxomas. An 18-year-old male, with no significant family history, presented with multiple cutaneous swellings, largest measuring 15 cm on the right cheek. He also had spotty skin pigmentations, raised adrenocorticotropic hormone levels and recurrent cardiac myxomas. Fine-needle aspiration cytology from the right cheek and suprapubic swellings revealed paucicellular smears with abundant myxoid material in the background, admixed with fragments of spindle and stellate cells with bland nuclear morphology, and vascular proliferation in few fragments. There was no mitosis, necrosis, or any epithelial element. Hence, diagnosis of cutaneous myxomas in CNC was made which was confirmed on histopathology. This is the first report of cytologic diagnosis of multiple cutaneous myxomas in CNC and the largest cutaneous myxoma reported in literature.

Abstract A 47-year-old woman presented in the outpatient department of EAST Surgical ward of MAYO Hospital Lahore, Pakistan, on February 2019 with complaint of swelling in the front section of the neck since five months which increased gradually in size and had been causing pain since two months. She had no comorbidities and insignificant family history. Examination revealed a 23×20 cm mass on the right side of the posterior triangle of the neck. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) was inconclusive and CT of the neck showed a huge mass on the right side of the neck with cervical lymph nodes. Exploration was planned, and modified radical neck dissection Type III (Also known as Functional Neck dissection) was performed. The biopsy revealed synovial sarcoma of the neck. The patient’s post-operative condition was satisfactory and she was discharged on the fifth post-operative day. Continuous...

A two years old Kathiawar stallion was reported with the history of two, pedunculated hard mass medially on the thigh and hock of the right hind limb, progressively increasing for the past two months. Fine needle aspiration cytology revealed fibrosarcoma. The tumour on the medial aspect of the thigh was injected with cisplatin intra-tumorally at a dose rate of 0.3 mg/cm3 of tumour volume and was exposed to ECT. The tumour on the medial aspect of the hock was excised incompletely to preserve skin and subcutaneous tissues around the tumour for wound opposition and treated with intra-tumoral injection of cisplatin followed by ECT. Following electrochemotherapy complete response was noticed onthe 3rd and 4th week for the tumours on the thigh and hock respectively. No recurrence was noticed during the follow-up period of one year revealing ETC with cisplatin as a single treatment and also in combination with surgery is effective for the treatment of fibrosarcoma in equines.

We report the case of a 32-year-old female who presented to us with incidental findings of a space occupying lesion (SOL) in liver on abdominal ultrasound (USG). She was taking oral contraceptive pill for last 9 years. Clinical examination was unremarkable and liver investigation revealed mildly raised Serum alanine aminotrasferase (ALT). Dyslipidemia was also present. Computed tomography (CT) identified a 2.5 cm lesion in the right lobe of liver at posterior aspect which was isodense. Alpha-feto protein was normal. CT guided Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) showed adequate cellular material containing organized reactive hepatocytes in the background of blood. No granuloma or malignant cell was seen. Findings were suggestive of hepatic adenoma.Birdem Med J 2015; 5(1) Supplement: 59-62

Functioning thoracic paraganglioma (PGL) is rare in clinical practice. We present a 33-year-old man with this pathology, who came with right-sided chest pain and was found to have a right-sided paravertebral mass. Fine needle aspiration cytology revealed a PGL. Urine normetanephrine was elevated and meta- iodobenzylguanidine scan showed increased tracer uptake in the right hemithorax, suggestive of a functioning neuroendocrine tumour. The patient was subjected to right PGL excision by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, after adequate preoperative preparations. The perioperative period was uneventful, except for a transient rise in blood pressure during the surgery. His blood pressure continued to be normal in the postoperative period. In any patient with a paravertebral mass, the possibility of PGL should be kept in mind even if the patient is normotensive. Making a preoperative diagnosis is important, because excision of functioning PGL without adequate preoperative preparation may be detrimental.

ABSTRACT A 9-year-old Girolando dairy cow, weighing 400kg, with a history of increased volume in the right parotid region, which extended to the submandibular region, was assisted. Fine needle aspiration cytology was performed, and the cytological findings were consistent with malignant neoplasm of epithelial origin (carcinoma). Because of the unfavorable prognosis, the animal was euthanized and submitted to an anatomopathological examination. Samples of the increased parotid and affected lymph nodes were collected for histopathological evaluation. The microscopic changes were accentuated features of anaplasia, moderate cell proliferation, atypical mitotic figures, and necrosis. Stroma ranged from delicate to scirrhous, and the tumor boundaries were not distinct. These findings substantiated the preliminary histomorphological diagnosis of undifferentiated carcinoma with metastasis in lymph nodes. Immunohistochemical tests were performed with anti-CK Pan (clone AE1AE3), anti-CK HMW (clone 34βE12), anti-CK19 (clone RCK108), anti-vimentin (clone V9), anti-S100 (polyclonal), and anti-androgen (polyclonal) antibodies. The immunophenotype favored the diagnosis of salivary gland adenocarcinoma. Despite the rareness in cattle, salivary gland adenocarcinoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of diseases that occur with increased volume in the head, lymphadenopathy, drooling, dysphagia, and progressive weight loss.

Focal myositis (of Heffner) in the right trapezius and paraspinal muscles accompanied by a pseudotumour of the left orbit has not been reported previously. The clinical, pathological and radiological features of these unusual benign pseudotumours of the head and neck are discussed. Computerized tomography (CT) scan of the neck and orbital ultrasound were suggestive of an inflammatory process without an abscess formation. This was followed by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), which confirmed the diagnosis. The patient was treated with intravenous steroids and antibiotics, that led to complete resolution of symptoms, and there was no recurrence at six months follow-up. This report highlights the importance of imaging in inflammatory neck swellings.
