The AD WME items represent sophisticated technical systems (STS) designed for a long-term operation. Upon termination of the specified operational lifetime, the AD WME pieces have a competitive level of performance specification and are potentially suitable for further intended use (including possible modernisation) if judge by their functional capabilities. In order to extend operational lifetime and restore service life, the AD WME overhaul is envisaged. Overhaul was previously performed at specialised military maintenance shops. Due to reformation or liquidation of military maintenance shops, a necessity to create specialised fixed-site maintenance centres emerged. This article considers basic solutions related to creation of the advanced adaptable fixed-site maintenance centres designed to perform overhaul of the AD WME pieces which are in operational service of the Russian Aerospace Forces or planned to be accepted for operational service in future. Innovative solutions related to creation of the adaptable fixed-site maintenance centres are protected with the patents of the Russian Federation.

This study concerns the long-term operation (LTO) of a boiling water reactor (BWR) reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and its internals. The main parts of this study are: survey on susceptibility to degradation mechanisms, and computational time limited ageing analyses (TLAAs). The ageing of nuclear power plants (NPPs) emphasises the need to anticipate the possible degradation mechanisms. The BWR survey on susceptibility to these uses the OL1/OL2 RPVs and significant internals as a pilot project. It is not necessary to carry out the TLAAs for all components. Some components were excluded from the TLAAs with a screening process. To do this, it was necessary to determine the component specific load induced stresses, strains and temperature distributions as well as cumulative usage factor (CUF) values. For the screened-in components, the TLAAs covered all significant time dependent degradation mechanisms. These include (but are not limited to): • irradiation embrittlement, • fatigue, • stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and • irradiation accelerated SCC (IASCC). For the components that were screened-in, the potential to brittle, ductile or other degradation was determined. Only some of the most significant cases and results are presented. According to the analysis results, the operational lifetime of the OL1/OL2 RPVs and internals can safely be extended from 40 to 60 years.

In modern conditions in the Russian Federation the equipment of spacecraft with a highly reliable electronic components is possible only through testing technical centers which act as a link between manufacturers of electronic components and their consumers. Given the lack of specialized production of electronic components of the «Space» category in our country, this is the only alternative way. Testing technical centers carry out the formation of batches of electronics for space applications by conducting additional tests of electronic components for general industrial use allowing the rejection of elements containing defects that can manifest themselves during long-term operation in outer space. A modern spacecraft contains about 100–200 thousand electronic components. Taking into account the fact that the on-board equipment of the spacecraft during its operation cannot be repaired, it is obvious that extremely high reliability requirements are imposed on the electronic components of space applications. In this regard the improvement of the methodology for increasing the reliability of the electronic components of space applications is of paramount importance for the further development of the space industry. This article outlines an approach to improving the technology of additional tests in testing technical centers, based on the use of the concepts of homogeneity of the tested batch of electronic components which makes it possible to meaningfully generate samples for destructive physical analysis and radiation resistance tests, as well as to additionally identify emission elements that are potentially unreliable elements.

Operational license of the four VVER-440/213 units at Paks NPP, Hungary is limited to the design lifetime of 30 years. Extension by an additional 20 years of the original license is one of the main goals of the plant owner. In 2008 a programme for long-term operation (LTO) was developed and submitted to the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority. The LTO Programme defines the activities for ensuring the extension of the operational lifetime and contains the justification of the safe LTO. The LTO Programme has to be implemented and comprehensive justification of the safe LTO has to be provided in the formal License Renewal Applications unit by unit. This work has been completed by the end of 2011, and the application has been submitted for approval for the Unit 1. The authority review and the approval of the License Renewal Application for Unit 1 should be finished before the expiration of the original design lifetime in 2012. In line with the regulations and supporting the License Renewal Application, a large number of engineering tasks have been performed. In this paper the entire project will be reported. The issues will be discussed, which have been arisen during the development of the application as well as the difficulties generated by the Hungarian technical and regulatory peculiarities will be presented.

A modern fleet of the air defence weapons, military and special equipment (AD WMSE) includes a large complex of the AD WME of different types allotted on a vast territory of the Russian Federation and outside. The AD WMSE systems differ not only by their intended use and performance specification but also by a complex of operational characteristics which require different approaches to organization of their operations engineering. The required level of the AD WMSE technical readiness is kept by organizing their maintenance and repair with involvement of resources which belong to service industrial enterprises and their mobile maintenance team. However, existing approaches to the AD WMSE operations engineering based on fixed-site service centres and maintenance organizations are not always effective. Due to this, this article considers options of creating and applying multifaceted mobile maintenance centres operatively organized based on the set of the unified mobile organizational repair systems developed by JSC The Main Technological and Industrial Enterprise Granit.

The article presents the key results of scenario projections that underpinned the Strategy for long-term low carbon economic development of the Russian Federation to 2050, including analysis of potential Russia’s GHG emission mitigation commitments to 2050 and assessment of relevant costs, benefits, and implications for Russia’s GDP. Low carbon transformation of the Russian economy is presented as a potential driver for economic growth that offers trillions-of-dollars-worth market niches for low carbon products by mid-21st century. Transition to low carbon economic growth is irreversible. Lagging behind in this technological race entails a security risk and technological backwardness hazards.

The management of surface watercourses is an urgent scientific task. The article presents the results of statistical processing of long-term monthly data of field observations of hydrological and hydrochemical parameters along the Upper Yerga small river in the Vologda region. Sampling estimates of statistical parameters are obtained, autocorrelation and correlation analyzes are performed. The limiting periods from the point of view of pollution for water receivers receiving wastewater from drained agricultural areas are identified.
