The influence of coating method (spray-coating or drop-casting onto horizontal substrate) on the electrochromic characteristics of the layers of water-soluble polyaniline-polyacid complex was investigated. It was shown that in case of addition of single-wall nanotubes the polyaniline-polyacid layers prepared by scalable spray-coating technology demonstrate high coloration speed an electrochromic efficiency.

Repairing different waste parts is an attractive issue due to the cost of repaired parts is much lower than the cost produced by conventional methods. In this study, the Al7075 aluminium alloy surface was repaired using the Ni-Zn-Al2O3 powder by the cold spray coating method. The microstructure, micro-hardness, and tribological performance of the repaired zone were determined. The microstructure of repaired zone consisted of ceramic Al2O3 particles embedded in the Ni and Zn metal matrix, similar to a lamellar structure. The average microhardness value of the repaired area was about 4.3% higher than the Al7075 substrate. Although the average coefficient of friction had increased in the repaired area, the wear rate had decreased approximately 1.3 times. As a result of the FESEM examination of the wear channels, the main wear mechanism of the Al7075 material was abrasive, while the main wear mechanism of the sample repaired with cold spray coating was determined as adhesive wear. Consequently, it increases the service life of the part, as the repaired zone with cold spray coating shows approximately 1.3 times better wear performance than Al7075.

Carbon membrane has attracted researchers’ attention as it is superior in terms of its gas separation performance. In this study, the composition of polymer precursor in the dope solution was investigated based on carbon membrane performance. P84 polyimide was chosen as the polymer precursor as it fulfils the requirement for carbon membrane properties. By varying the polymer precursor composition (6, 9, 12, and 15 wt.%), P84 was stirred in NMP solvent until homogenous solution was formed. Commercialised alumina disc was coated via spray coating method at 1 bar at room temperature. The disc supported polymeric membrane was carbonised at 700 °C under nitrogen (200 ml/min) with heating rate of 3 °C/min. The carbon membrane was analysed via SEM. Gas permeation tests were performed using pure O2 and N2 at 4 bar at room temperature. The selectivity of 3.7 was obtained using the disc supported carbon membrane for O2/N2. The optimum polymer composition in this study was obtained by 12 wt.% of P84.
