BACKGROUND COVID-19 social distancing guidelines caused a rapid transition to telephone and video technologies for the delivery of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. The study examined: a) adoption of these technologies across the SUD service continuum; b) acceptance of these technologies by service providers; and c) intention of providers to use these technologies following the pandemic. An additional analysis used the validated Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to test the rigor of the intent to use the technology post-pandemic. OBJECTIVE Specific hypotheses were that over 50% of organizations would use telephone and video technologies, that organizations would report statistically significant odds of increasing their use of technology after the COVID-19 pandemic, and that perceived usefulness of telephone and video technologies would mediate the effect of ease of use on intention to use. METHODS An on-line survey distributed between May and August, 2020 measured current use of telephone and video services, assessed perceived organizational readiness to use these services, and gauged intent to use telephone and video applications post-COVID-19. Seven of the 10 Regional Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs), representing 43 states, distributed the survey. The unit of analysis was the organization. RESULTS Four hundred and fifty-seven organizations responded. Overall, there was widespread use of technology; greater than 70% of organizations reported using telephone or video for most services. For all but two services (residential and buprenorphine services by telephone), organizations reported significantly greater odds (mean OR = 3.79; range from 1.87 to 6.98) of intending to use technology to deliver services post COVID-19. Clinical users regarded video more favorably than telephone for all but two services. Readiness for telephone and video use was high across numerous factors, though telephone services were viewed as being more accessible. Consistent with the TAM, perceived usefulness and ease of use influenced intention to use both telephone and video technologies. CONCLUSIONS The overall perceived ease of use and usefulness of telephone and video-based services provide a promising outlook for use of these services post the COVID-19 pandemic. Future studies should continue to review the acceptance of these services and their comparative impact on care outcomes. CLINICALTRIAL This trial is not currently registered since it was not an randomized controlled trial.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the roles leadership behaviors have on technology acceptance models, focusing on bank leaders’ intention to use mobile-commerce. The study included responses from 101 senior-level managers working at FDIC-insured commercial banks in the United States. Three instruments including Kouzes and Posner’s (1987) leadership practice inventory (LPI), Wu and Wang’s (2005) mobile commerce technology acceptance model (MC-TAM), and Oreg’s (2003) resistance to change model (RTC) were employed. A correlation analysis revealed that two transformational leadership behaviors—model the way and enabling others to act—positively relate to behavioral intent to use mobile commerce. A regression analysis found that perceived compatibility, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use are positively related to the behavioral intent to use m-Commerce. However, the authors found that the RTC and LPI model cannot predict the willingness to use m-Commerce.

Although, they are convenient, quick and easy but there is not still enough evidence on how successful this practice is. In Nanjing, China, consumer intention to use mobile payment is still questionable and remains as a skeptical consideration. A survey was conducted in Nanjing, China where 612 respondents were interviewed by self-administrated survey. It is also important to get more information regarding customer satisfaction towards the mobile payment platform.

BACKGROUND Continuous in-home monitoring of older adults can provide rich and sensitive data capturing subtle behavioral and cognitive changes. Our previous work has identified multiple metrics that describe meaningful trends in daily activities over time. The continuous, multi-domain nature of this technology may also serve to inform caregivers of the need for increased attention in order to maintain the health and safety of at-risk older adults. Accordingly, care decisions can be based on objective, systematically assessed real-time data. OBJECTIVE The present study deployed a suite of in-home monitoring technologies to detect changing levels of care needs in residents of independent living units in seven retirement communities. METHODS Continuous activity data were presented to staff involved in decisions regarding transitions in care. Comparisons were planned between outcomes for residents whose data were shared and those whose data were not made available to staff. Staff use of the data dashboard was also monitored over the course of the study. RESULTS Despite initial enthusiasm and an iterative process of refinement of measures and modes of data presentation based on staff input, actual inspection and therefore use of resident data was well below expectation. Survey data and in-depth interviews offered insight to the mismatch between intended and actual use. CONCLUSIONS Most continuous in-home monitoring technology acceptance models focus on perceived usefulness and ease of use, and equate intent to use technology with actual use. Our experience suggests otherwise. We found multiple intervening variables exist between perceived usefulness, intent to use and actual use. Ethical, institutional, and social factors are considered in their role as determinants of use.

Background Social distancing guidelines for COVID-19 have caused a rapid transition to telephone and video technologies for delivering treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs). Objective This study examined the adoption of these technologies across the SUD service continuum, acceptance of these technologies among service providers, and intent of providers to use these technologies after the pandemic. Additional analysis using the validated technology acceptance model (TAM) was performed to test the potential applications of these technologies after the pandemic. The study objectives were as follows: (1) to assess the use of telehealth (telephone and video technologies) for different SUD services during COVID-19 in May-June 2020, (2) to assess the intended applications of telehealth for SUD services beyond COVID-19, (3) to evaluate the perceived ease of use and value of telehealth for delivering SUD services, and (4) to assess organizational readiness for the sustained use of telehealth services. Methods An online survey on the use of telephonic and video services was distributed between May and August 2020 to measure the current use of these services, perceived organizational readiness to use these services, and the intent to use these services after COVID-19. In total, 8 of 10 regional Addiction Technology Transfer Centers representing 43 states distributed the survey. Individual organizations were the unit of analysis. Results In total, 457 organizations responded to the survey. Overall, the technology was widely used; >70% (n>335) of organizations reported using telephone or video platforms for most services. The odds of the intent of organizations to use these technologies to deliver services post COVID-19 were significantly greater for all but two services (ie, telephonic residential counseling and buprenorphine therapy; mean odds ratio 3.79, range 1.87-6.98). Clinical users preferred video technologies to telephone technologies for virtually all services. Readiness to use telephone and video technologies was high across numerous factors, though telephonic services were considered more accessible. Consistent with the TAM, perceived usefulness and ease of use influenced the intent to use both telephone and video technologies. Conclusions The overall perceived ease of use and usefulness of telephonic and video services suggest promising post–COVID-19 applications of these services. Survey participants consistently preferred video services to telephonic services; however, the availability of telephonic services to those lacking easy access to video technology is an important characteristic of these services. Future studies should review the acceptance of telehealth services and their comparative impact on SUD care outcomes.

Technology Acceptance Theories have been widely applied and quite successful at explaining the behavioral intention to use technology in many organizations. One of the most significant variables in the Technology Acceptance Model is perceived ease of use. The Technology Acceptance Model purports that perceived ease of use contributes to the behavioral intention to use technology. Additionally, the model purports that perceived ease of use is an antecedent of perceived usefulness. In the adoption and use of technology across multiple industries, previous studies show that Technology Acceptance Theories predictions have been incorrect and not consistently supported. Qualitatively studying physicians, it is shown that medical doctors focus on factors not thoroughly investigated or explained in the literature. This study specifically investigates physicians’ behavioral intention to use a Personal Digital Assistant in their work environment and examines why some tested constructs, such as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, are not relevant in a health care environment. Plausible solutions to this non-predictability issue, such as technology substitution, are presented.

Online banking has become a vital instrument for delivering quality and easily reached banking services at the lowest possible time with ensuring affordability both for customers and service providers. Although this banking has huge potentials and benefits, the successful adoption of online banking remains a significant challenge in the context of an emerging economy like Bangladesh. The purpose of this empirical study is to investigate the factors influencing the online banking services adoption in Bangladesh by using the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with government support and risk factors. A questionnaire survey method was used to collect data from 380 banking customers.  To analyse the collected survey data and test the set of hypothesis, a structural equation modelling (SEM) method was used with the help of SmartPLS3 package. The results illustrate that perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude towards use, government support positively influence the intention to use as well as the intention to use positively impact on intention to continue to the adoption of online banking services. However, the relationship between risk and intention to use was statistically insignificant. Finally, the findings may assist banking professionals and programmers to develop and design successful policies regarding online banking services to boost this service industry in the future.

The present study integrates the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the innovation diffusion theory (IDT) for analysing consumers’ intention to make use of Paytm services. It is a cross-sectional study; the data was gathered from 259 Internet consumers. The statistical tools, including structural equation modelling (SEM), are applied to understand the inter-construct relationships. The intention to use Paytm is positively influenced by a perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and social influence. Moreover, the moderating effects of perceived risk (PR) are found to be significant on the associations among social influence, perceived ease of use and Paytm usage intentions. This study will help digital wallet service providers (DWSP), who focus on identifying the important factors for accelerating the use of mobile wallets. The findings will also facilitate the government to devise ways for augmenting cashless fund movement in the economy. Besides explaining the phenomenon of Paytm usage intentions, the study reveals the moderating role of PR with respect to various antecedents, thereby filling the gap in the existing literature.

With the rapid growth of information technology, electronic money has played an important and central role in the e-payment. Development of electronic money is able to create a trend less-cash society, which is a society’s behavior using non- cash transactions by utilizing the simplicity offered through electronic transactions. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors affecting the intention to use electronic money. We designed a questionnaire and used it to survey a simple random sampling of people who use of e-money in DKI Jakarta. The actual samples used for the study are 125 respondents. We analyzed the data using Structured Equation Modeling to evaluate the strength of the hypothesized effects. The result of the analysis showed that perceived ease of use has no significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Perceived ease of use has a significant effect on the perceived usefulness of e-money. Perceived usefulness has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived usefulness has a significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Attitude has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Subjective norm has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived behavioral control has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Traditional in-app virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR) applications pose a challenge of reaching users due to their dependency on operating systems (Android, iOS). Besides, it is difficult for general users to create their own VR/AR applications and foster their creative ideas without advanced programming skills. This paper addresses these issues by proposing an interactive extended reality toolkit, named BlocklyXR. The objective of this research is to provide general users with a visual programming environment to build an extended reality application for digital storytelling. The contextual design was generated from real-world map data retrieved from Mapbox GL. ThreeJS was used for setting up, rendering 3D environments, and controlling animations. A block-based programming approach was adapted to let users design their own story. The capability of BlocklyXR was illustrated with a use case where users were able to replicate the existing PalmitoAR utilizing the block-based authoring toolkit with fewer efforts in programming. The technology acceptance model was used to evaluate the adoption and use of the interactive extended reality toolkit. The findings showed that visual design and task technology fit had significantly positive effects on user motivation factors (perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness). In turn, perceived usefulness had statistically significant and positive effects on intention to use, while there was no significant impact of perceived ease of use on intention to use. Study implications and future research directions are discussed.
