The aim of the study was to provide an overview of the basic principles of the use of a pile drive analyzer control instrument and its implementation method in testing the carrying capacity of Pertamina Refinery Tank Unit Balikpapan V tank  foundation pile. The research method used in this research is applied research method with the method of using an unconfidence level case study on the accuracy of the results of pile foundation erection. This study is at the same time succesful story technical notes using PDA test control instrument in PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan. The results showed that based on the results of tests with PDA test control instruments can provide good accuracy on the carrying capacity of individual tank foundation piles so that there is no doubt about the acceptance criteria of tank building later. The results of this study recommend that PDA control instruments are suitable and safe to use in refinery areas and can be used for similar work in PT. Pertamina other. Keywords: Control instrument, pile drive analyzer, individual bearing capacity.

A tsunami hazard is an adverse event that causes damage to properties and loss of life. The problem in assessing a tsunami risk zone for a small area is significant, as available tsunami inundation zone data does not give detailed information for tsunami inundation and run-up in every nested grid. Hence, this study aims to establish a tsunami risk map in the Pasir Jambak sub-district, Padang, Indonesia. The map was carried out in every nested grid point of the area and on a large scale (1:5,000). The TUNAMI N3 program was used for the simulation of the tsunami inundation. A tsunami assessment was made through simulations in nine scenarios of fault parameter data for Sipora block earthquakes. The result of the study provides a tsunami inundation map. Furthermore, this tsunami inundation map can be used for communities, local authorities, government, and others for many studies, and decision-makers can come up with mitigation plans for a small study area.

Abstract This paper describes a visual simulation tool for reliable off-line development, verification and debugging of the control code of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) in the sequence control system. First, we discuss the uniform modeling method of the dynamic behavior of various components in a factory (actuators, sensors, operating panels, etc.) as the object model and state transition model. Then we propose the implementation method of the object model by VRML and JAVA. They enable us to uniformly describe the state-transition and corresponding dynamic behavior of the 3-D geometry of each object model. Moreover, we can use a standard VRML viewer which has the event-driven execution mechanism as a visual simulation tool. The effectiveness of proposed implementation and simulation is confirmed through the case study on the co-simulation of combining the component model with a real PLC.

The term “risk” is connoted with divergent meanings in natural hazard risk research and the practice of risk management. Whilst the technical definition is accurately defined, in practice, the term “risk” is often synonymously used with “danger”. Considering this divergence as a deficiency, risk communication often aims to correct laypersons’ understanding. We suggest to instead treat the variety of meanings as a resource for risk communication strategies. However, there is however to date no investigation of what laypersons’ meanings of risk actually comprise. To address this gap, we examine the meanings of risk by applying a social representations approach within a qualitative case study research design. Results of the study among inhabitants of Swiss mountain villages show that differences in meanings were found according to hazard experience and community size. We found commonly shared core representations and peripheral ones. We conclude with suggestions on how to make usage of the knowledge on SR in risk communication.

In recent years, Tourism activities in Gunungkidul Coastal Area rapidly increased. A large number of tourists visiting the coast considered as elements at risk that are exposed to tsunami hazards. Disaster infrastructures provided by the government e.g. hazard maps, evacuation routes, and locations for assembly points are inadequate. The tsunami inundation models provided by the government are based on national topographic maps (RBI), resulting in inaccurate models. DEM generation using UAV Photogrammetry produces high spatial resolution data that results in more accurate tsunami inundation model. The results of the model using UAV photogrammetry are also capable of producing several inundation scenarios and determine the safe areas that can be used for temporary evacuation sites. The use of UAV photogrammetry for tsunami inundation models provides many advantages including low cost and accurate model results. Evaluation of hazard maps and assembly points using UAV Photogrammetry modeling lead to more effective and less time-consuming on the evacuation process.

Earthquakes often cause fatalities to human being. Unfortunately, the event of earthquakes cannot be forecasted. But, the hazard risk due to these earthquakes could be reduced if the geological, seismic and physical surface conditions are known. This reduction plays an important role in disaster mitigation. This paper discusses the development of a method for hazard risk analysis due to earthquakes. The development is based on the input parameters of the hazard and vulnerability components of a site being investigated. Each parameter is then rated, so the total rating of hazard and vulnerability input parameters is obtained. The comparison between the applied rating and the total rating of hazard and vulnerability input parameters results in an index of each input parameter, consecutively. Thus, the multiplication of indexes, (hazard and vulnerability), results in a hazard risk index. Based on the proposed hazard index, a case study in the city of Mataram of Lombok Island has been conducted. The result shows that the city of Mataram has a medium hazard risk index. This means that if an earthquake occurs in the city of Mataram, a medium scale of fatalities may be experienced by the city. However, this index should be considered as an early warning system in disaster mitigation. So, the real condition of the city should be evaluated in order to increase the degree of preparedness due to the event of earthquakes that could occur at any time.
