Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of heart disease and two of the key risk factors for CHD are hypertension and diabetes. After smoking cessation programs, the detection and management of hypertension, and of diabetes, may be the next most important interventions that physicians can offer to reduce the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
