Indonesia on the fifth ranks in the world considering of accident number, after China, India, Afghanistan, and Nigeria, where East Java is the province that has the highest accident in Indonesia. The city of Surabaya as the Capital of East Java Province automatically became the centre of government activities, giving rise to transportation activities that indirectly had an impact on accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to obtain the accident rate and the location of black site in the city of Surabaya. In addition, considering that productive age including junior high school (SMP) is the highest contributor on the accidents, the level of understanding of junior high school students on traffic regulations needs to be analysed. From the data obtained at IRSMS, it can be seen that five roads in Surabaya were the highest contributors to accidents in Surabaya, namely Mastrip, Diponegoro, A. Yani, Kenjeran, and Ir. Soekarno, where the five roads are inter-city connecting roads that blend with the road in the city. In addition, from the interview data, there was a relationship between awareness of traffic behaviour and willingness to protect themselves.

This study aims to determine the development of mathematical representation skills of junior high school students (SMP) based on mathematical exam results data in 2014-2016. The research data was obtained from responses of students' answers consisting of 1,535 students in 2014 and 2,000 students in 2015 and 2016 classified based on indicators of mathematical representation ability. In addition, the classification of student response data is also by gender and type of school. This research is a descriptive research using tables and graphs to describe data analysis of the development of the ability of mathematical representation in each year. The results show that the average percentage of mathematical representation ability of junior high school students in creating and using representations to organize, record and communicate mathematical ideas decrease every year. In indicators uses representation to model and interpret the physical, social, and mathematical phenomena increase in 2014 to 2015 but decrease in 2016. In general, the average percentage of mathematical representation ability of male students is higher than female.

AbstractJunior High School students’ reading skills based around the River in the city of Banjarmasin.Advances in information technology make the world seem so narrow. Through print and electronicmedia, the information comes from an area quickly spread and can be accessed by residents in otherareas. These symptoms necessarily has to be anticipated with completion of reading skills, especiallysince they were sitting on the bench of the school. This research describes: (a) the level of Junior HighSchool students ‘ reading skills who settled in the area of the environment of the River in the city ofBanjarmasin; and the image of interest, read the implementation of learning to read, and the availabilityof means of learning to read in Junior High School who were around the area of the River in the city ofBanjarmasin. This research includes research of fusion (blanded), between quantitative and qualitativeresearch. Data source this study are students and teachers from five schools, i.e. SMPN 2 Banjarmasin,SMPN 4 Banjarmasin, SMPN 26 Banjarmasin,, Kanaan Christian Junior High School, SMP KartikaV-3 Banjarmasin. Engineering data collection carried through tests and nontes. Qualitative data wereanalyzed using the program EXCEL and qualitative data were analyzed based on the analysis of the text. The results showed: (1) literary reading skills of students score of 69% (classified as being); interpretivereading ability score of 43% (belongs to very low); and score reading skills comprehensively of 58%(classified low); (2) the interest of Junior High School students read the classified medium; the timeportion is considered quite memabaca; most of the teachers do not give special reading exercises forstudents; most teachers never hold/includes students in the race to read; availability of books in-schoolpackage is considered already sufficient; dictionaries available to support the implementation of learningto read in school is still lacking; and the availability of newspapers and magazines in school are also stilllacking. Kata-kata kunci: kemampuan, membaca, literer, interpretif, lingkungan sungai
