Making students skillful is the ultimate aim of teaching. The teacher who feel that their jobs are over once they explain and demonstrates the lesson in the class is certainly on the defective side of thinking. Rather, students must be guided towardsthe objectives of learning demonstrated through modeling, and given ample practice to handle learning independently. This paper elucidates various techniques available forskill development by studying the case of 75 students. Their views regarding learning were gathered through a questionnaire. A statistical analysis of their views was carried out, after which they were given a skill to practice through a selected technique which they considered asthe most effective technique for skill development. It was empirically concluded thatstudentslearned the skill more rapidly when they are allowed to use their initiative and judgment in a mutual practice technique of skill development. At the end, guidelines for effective skill development have been suggested which could be adopted by teacher for skill training of students

Banz (1981) and Reiganum (1981) claim that, in terms of returncreation, small firms tend to perform better than large firms. They implicitly claim that the phenomena (which is known as size effect) is stable and exists over the period of examination. This study intends to investigate the existence of size effect in Indonesian market and more specifically, to test whether stages of economic cycle (expansion and contraction stages) determine the existence of the effect. The results of the study show that size effect does exist in the market for the whole period of observation (1991-2001). However, when the period is divided into two parts according to the stage of economic cycle, the statistical analysis results are not supportive to the conclusion about the size effect.

As Dykstra and Silag (1985) have noted, the analysis of American frontier towns continues to yield a plethora of local histories that might provide an empirical basis for generalization, if a theoretical basis for comparative analysis might be offered. The development of a rigorous methodology for historiographie and statistical analysis has facilitated the accumulation of empirical evidence, but the analysis of local history has not advanced far beyond the initial debate regarding the basis for democratic governance (Taylor, 1956). Instead, two research traditions have developed—one seeking to identify the socio-cultural basis for community solidarity, the other focusing on the partisan struggles that shape democratic governance.

There are two important education systems. One is distance education and the other is skill development training. Distance education is an important education system provides education to the adult learners where ever they want and when ever they want. This type of distance education reaches to the door steps of the learners of masses with learner kits. The skill development training is nothing but providing training in different skills required for employable for example carpenter training, motor mechanic skill training, electrical technician skill training, computer operator skill training, construction worker skill training, beautician skill training, hair cutting skill training, hospitality and clinical heath care skill training etc;. According to Jain (2013), skill development is seen as a means to empower the individual and improve his/her employability. This paper discusses about importance of skill development and its impact on Indian GDP growth rate. Now days all the states are establishing skill development centres/skill development institutes in their own state to enhance the capability of skilled man power. The central government is also emphasizing on skill development to train the youth in different employable skills. The central government is providing a budget for skill development through Skill India initiative. In this paper, the role of IGNOU in distance education and skill development training has been discussed. The skill development training programme as a case study on electrical technician programme run by one of its school (School of Engineering and Technology) has been analyzed in the paper.

Islamic social reporting is the application of social functions that are based on sharia provisions. It does not only help the Muslims in deciding but also helps companies to fulfill their obligations to God and the community. This study aims to obtain empirical evidence on the influence of maqashid sharia index, company size, and company age on Islamic social reporting and the example is the 11 sharia banks in Indonesia. This study takes about 4 years (2015-2018) and the analysis technique was a descriptive and statistical analysis. Statistical analysis uses the Partial Least Square approach (Smartpls version 3.0) and the result is indicated that the maqashid sharia index, company size, and company age have a positive effect on Islamic social reporting. This study empirically proves that a sharia bank that is able to express the maqashid sharia index well then has good Islamic social reporting disclosure. The sharia banks that have high total assets and income tends to make an extensive Islamic social reporting disclosures because there are also more sources of funds used to make disclosures. The longer sharia bank is established, the higher level of Islamic social reporting disclosure.

The developing technonolgy brings the teenagers to the world interaction without boundary. Teenagers, or adolescents, are demanded to be able to master English. Thus, teaching and learning reading skills has become one essential factor to help them to master English. The aims of this research are to find out the effectiveness of PQ4R and Collaborative Strategic Reading on students’ reading skill development for adolescents; (2) to find out the most effective technique for teaching reading skill for adolescents. This study was a quasi-experimental research with two experimental groups and one control group. The three variables used were PQ4R, Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR), and Conventional techniques. The sample of this study were grade X Science 1, X Social 1 and X Social 2 who had homogenous reading level who were selected by using Cluster Random Sampling. The quantitative data were collected by using pretest and posttest to assess the reading comprehension. The result indicated that there was a difference in the students’ reading achievement given different treatment. Students taught using PQ4R had an improvement from 61.75 to 71.63 while students taught using CSR had improvement from 63.32 to 75.50. Students taught using conventional technique also indicated improvement from 62.5 to 68.38. The most effective technique was CSR compared to PQ4R and Conventional techniques. The improvement of students’ reading skill development reach 15.9% while the improvement using PQ4R was 19.25% 9 and using conventional technique was 9.28%. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that discourage construction workers from undergoing skill development training, and to suggest steps for making the training programmes more attractive to them. Design/methodology/approach The research used an exploratory approach of unstructured interviews with construction workers (bottom-up approach), and the guided group brainstorming technique with the help of experienced industry professionals (top-down approach). Findings From the unstructured interviews, five inhibiting factors were identified which discourage construction workers from undergoing training. Furthermore, to recognise the causes of the inhibiting factors, 13 possible causal attributes (PCAs) were identified from the brainstorming approach. Subsequently, these PCAs were classified into five possible causal factors (PCFs) on the basis of those concerned stakeholder(s) that are most closely involved and most responsible for fixing them. Research limitations/implications The research provides recommendations to practitioners for pragmatic and permanent resolution of each of the PCFs, which serves as a framework for the construction industry to reduce the scarcity of trained workers in the industry. Also, the results may serve as a model for the planning and successful implementation of any new skill-training programme for the construction workers in any developing economy, such as India. Originality/value This research contributes to the literature by highlighting the views of construction workers on the training establishments, which very few studies have considered in the past. Also, the research provides a detailed process of brainstorming approach, which will help the research community to appreciate its use in studies related to the construction industry.

A significant trend observed recently in shaping the communication condition between economic entities, and the authorities is the growing virtualization of information circulation. The aim of this article is to examine the attitudes and expectations of specialists (employees of accounting offices) towards the process. Opinions of the specialists and accounting community members were collected as part of a survey, in which the respondents came from the southern Polish territory. This location was chosen due to a particularly high rate of change to the location, which in turn made the respondents more sensitive to the issue. 114 interviews had been collected, which were then subjected to statistical analysis. The outcome, in the most general terms, indicates a generally positive attitude of the respondents towards the occurring phenomenon.
