In the search for balancing factors in the art of environmental design between architecture, landscape architecture, and interiors needed to improve interdisciplinary collaborative planning and enhance the psycho-emotional quality of the environment, the study of landscape space-indoor interaction through comparative analysis and inductive reference is continued. On the Latvian scale, the new, 21st-century technological capabilities in the design and production of wooden structures in the architecture of the open air concert hall “Mītava”, constructed in 2019 on Pasta Island. The importance of the structure on the Baltic scale is emphasized by the unique design, which resembles a shell washed on the bank of the Lielupe River, large (<60m) arched timber continuous roof structures and high acoustic characteristics. Original building structures have opened up new opportunities for interaction between landscape space and indoor space, creating a broad, spatial synthesis. The realization of an artistically stylistic concept in the open-air concert hall “Mītava”, which is subordinated to the existing landscape space and supplemented with appropriate greenery, is considered a valuable contribution to the urban environment. The specific case study analyzed in detail underlines the importance of successful interdisciplinary collaboration in the harmonious interaction between landscape space and indoor.

About 20% of the world’s timber grows in Russia, but the huge forest-raw material potential is used inefficiently. The forest industry is modestly represented and the Russian economy brings minimal income. In recent decades, more serious requirements have been placed on building structures, but the quality of lumber has been steadily declining throughout the world. The modern woodworking industry improves the quality of lumber by removing unacceptable wood defects, followed by end gluing of boards to a “mustache” or “toothed joint”. Of all types of joints of wooden elements, the notched adhesive or “toothed joint” provides the best use of their bearing capacity, since it causes less weakening of the cross-section of the elements, which is characteristic of other methods of joining (nailing, bolting, etc.). But along with this, the results of numerous tests showed that in conditions of mass production, the main place of destruction is the “toothed joint” or gear joints (about 50%) in the layers of the structures of the stretched zone. The presence in the most stressed layers of the stretched zone of the bent glued elements of the gear joints leads, as a rule, to the destruction of the elements precisely because of these weaknesses. As a result, there is a need for a more detailed and indepth study of the effect of artificially created weakenings on the work of wooden structures. One of the methods for improving the performance of structures made of low-grade wood is their reinforcement. The purpose of the research is to determine the degree of influence of some artificially created types of attenuation on the stress-strain state of reinforced wooden beams. The main research methods: mathematical calculations, computer modeling in the PC “COSMOS / M”, experiment. The experimental design technique is given [27]. The results are presented in the form of graphs and tables. The main conclusions made after the work: deformability in reinforced beams is 15-20% lower than in unreinforced ones; the destruction of reinforced beams with a weakened cross section occurs without a sharp collapse, due to the supporting effect of the reinforcement in the stretched zone and the reliable connection of the reinforcement with the wood, which provides an adhesive joint up to the destruction of the wood. The safety factor of reinforced wooden structures varies from 3.00 to 5.00.

This chapter demonstrates the influence of the socio-emotional quality of small-group functioning in a collaborative learning setting. It reports a case study from a sophomore class at a Belgian university. The subjects were 142 undergraduates subdivided into 12 project groups of about 12 students each. Following a description of the collaborative learning setting, a longitudinal survey study focusing upon the evolution of the learners’ perception of their own group’s socio-emotional functioning is presented. The aims of the study were to map group members’ perception of the socio-emotive quality of their own group functioning and to examine if and how problems in groups of learners can be detected as soon as possible. Having demonstrated that dysfunctionalities within groups can be detected rather early, the authors hope that corrective interventions can be implemented when they can still have an effect.

This study aims to compare the indoor soundscape of two concert halls with different geometric forms. The study included Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Concert Hall (CH) and CSO Grand Hall (GH) in Ankara, Turkey. CH was in shoebox form, and GH had vineyard form. Participants consisted of undergraduate students of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department of Bilkent University. Twenty females and twenty males were selected between the ages of 20-25. They were randomly divided into two groups as CH and GH. An online listening test with the same music but different recordings of each hall was applied. Also, tests had the visuals of the relevant concert hall. The perceptual data was collected with the questionnaire from ISO/TS 12913 2 Method A. The results showed that the overall soundscape quality of GH was perceived as more positive than CH. The surrounding sound in GH was more eventful and pleasant than CH.

This article presents a new joint Nordic study module consisting of a theoretical framework, the kindergarten teacher students’ case study and a reflection talk, in natural science for the kindergarten teacher education. The module is developed through an interdisciplinary collaboration in the Nordplus network: Learning of science concepts by kindergarten children: Nordic study module for the kindergarten teacher education (NATGREP), with science and quality in the kindergarten teacher education in focus. The introduction describes the Nordic kindergartens shortly, and concepts as quality and competence are shortly discussed. It is followed by the module’s theoretical framework. Then the study module’s development process is described accompanied by reflections of the student’s case studies in relation to the theoretical framework. At the end, the work with the study module is summarised, and the main conclusion is that the study module contributes positively to the students’ skills development, both in science and quality.

Purpose Misophonia is a sound tolerance disorder condition in certain sounds that trigger intense emotional or physiological responses. While some persons may experience misophonia, a few patients suffer from misophonia. However, there is a dearth of literature on audiological assessment and management of persons with misophonia. The purpose of this report is to discuss the assessment of misophonia and highlight the management option that helped a patient with misophonia. Method A case study of a 26-year-old woman with the complaint of decreased tolerance to specific sounds affecting quality of life is reported. Audiological assessment differentiated misophonia from hyperacusis. Management included retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy based on the principles described by P. J. Jastreboff and Jastreboff (2014). A misophonia questionnaire was administered at regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of therapy. Results A detailed case history and audiological evaluations including pure-tone audiogram and Johnson Hyperacusis Index revealed the presence of misophonia. The patient benefitted from intervention, and the scores of the misophonia questionnaire indicated a decrease in the severity of the problem. Conclusions It is important to differentially diagnose misophonia and hyperacusis in persons with sound tolerance disorders. Retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy can help patients who suffer from misophonia.

This paper presents a successful behavioral case study in treatment of chronic refractory cough in a 60-year-old adult female. The efficacy for speech-language pathology treating chronic cough is discussed along with description of treatment regime. Discussion focuses on therapy approaches used and the patient's report of changes in quality of life and frequency, duration, and severity reduction of her cough after treatment.

So far, in implementing school strategies, they tend not to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT), despite the availability of ICT resources available. Stages of strategic management are needed to generate the vision, mission, objectives, policy, program, budget, and procedures as well as control and evaluation process as an effort to utilize ICT to improve school quality. Based on the interpretation and the results of the study, it is concluded that schools have organized stages in strategic management that enable schools to have a quality profile. The impact of effective utilization of ICTs for schools is the achievement of effective school management, as per the National Education Standards, which is characterized by effective planning, implementation, control, and evaluation of school ICTs.The purpose of this study is to get a general description, describe, and reveal the Strategic Management of Information and Communication Technology Utilization to Improve the Quality of School Learning in Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational High School and Garut 1 Vocational High School, both on environmental analysis, strategic formulation, implementation and strategic evaluation. The research method used in this research is the case study method, because the problems studied occur in the place and situation of Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational School and Vocational High School 1 Garut. The use of case study models in this study is based on the consideration that to provide an overview of the strategic management activities of the use of ICTs carried out at vocational high schools with the ultimate goal of being able to improve the quality of school learning. Based on observations in the field of SMK 1 Garut and SMK Al Musaddadiyah Ciledug Garut is one of the public schools and private schools that have these advantages.

In this article, we evaluate the effectiveness of Cone Beam Computed Tomography, through a case study, in assessing the complication of intracranial bleeding during an endovascular treatment of brain arteriovenous malformation when compared to Multislice-Detector Computed Tomography performed immediately after the procedure. The image quality of Cone Beam Computed Tomography has enough diagnostic value in differentiating between haemorrhage, embolic materials and the arteriovenous malformation nidus to facilitate physicians to decide for further management of the patient.
