Poslanie mnogoslovnoe, an example of Muscovite antiheretical polemics, can be analyzed to add to our substantive knowledge of pre-Petrine Russian history and perhaps to refine our methodological tools for a critical evaluation of the sources for this period. Poslanie has long been regarded as a principal source of information about the life and ideas of its presumed author, the midsixteenth century Novgorodian monk Zinovii Otenskii, whose accomplishments as a theologian and publicist of the medieval Russian Orthodox church have traditionally been ranked only behind those of Iosif Volotskii and Maksim Grek. In conjunction with Zinovii's Istiny pokazanie, Poslanie provides our only detailed exposition of the teachings of the runaway slave Feodosii Kosoi, whose alleged criticisms of state and church constitute the most extreme rejection of the established order articulated in medieval Muscovy. In addition to its value for the interpretive study of Russian religious and intellectual history, Poslanie presents us with a methodological problem typical of early Russian documents: The work is anonymous and undated, and basic questions about its authorship, time of composition, and provenance have not been satisfactorily answered. The lack of information on either Zinovii or Kosoi and the contradictions in the pictures of both Zinovii and his heretical opponents presented in Poslanie, Istiny, and other, less detailed works, attributed to the monk, make solving these problems all the more interesting

The institute of governor-general authorities is one of the most important political institutes of imperial Russia. Its importance in the country's outlying territories was exceptional. At the same time, the importance of the Russian Orthodox Church in the outlying regions of the country was also significant. The Church promoted the integration of the country's outlying territories into a single imperial framework. Unfortunately, in world and Russian history there have been numerous instances of confrontation between secular and spiritual authorities. These confrontations often led to open conflicts. An example of this is the confrontation between the governor-general of Eastern Siberia Lawinski A.S., and Irkutsk Archbishop Irinej, discussed in this article.

The main purpose of the study is to describe the writings of St. Theophanes on the establishment of the church periodical «Vladimir diocesan sheets». Primarily I discuss the history and account of the emergence and development of the «Diocesan Vedomosti» that is described in the Russian Orthodox Church as a whole, and then display a detailed plan of the specific publication of the Vladimir diocese, which he saw as the initiator of this important matter. Its role in the life of the diocesan clergy and flock is revealed. The spiritual and educational significance of this printed organ is shown. As a result, the author concludes that the goal of the bishop’s work was to involve the local clergy in active church life together with the flock. Nowadays, the issues of this journal are a valuable source of information about the history of the Vladimir diocese.

The archive of the Solovetsky Stavropegial Monastery is a unique monument of Russian medieval writing and a valuable source on the history of monastic land ownership in the 15th – 17th centuries. The Archaeographic Commis-sion and the Holy Synod saved the monastery`s archive in 1917, ensured its preservation and secured scholars’ ac-cess to the documents. The article focuses on Professor Boris Dmitrievich Grekov (1882–1953) and his contribution to the evacuation of the Solovetsky archive from Arkhangelsk to Perm along with its preservation from destruction. Grekov was the founder of the Department of Russian History at the Perm University, a member of the USSR Acad-emy of Sciences, and was honored by getting the Stalin award. Grekov’s personal files deposited in the State Ar-chives of the Perm Region are the main source for the research. The documents help better understand the scientific and pedagogic work of this outstanding scholar in Perm. In addition to Grekov’s contribution, the article highlights the role of the Perm diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and its head, the archbishop of Perm and Kungur An-dronik (Nikolsky), in rescuing the documents of the Solovetsky monastery and delivering them to Perm. The author introduces new information into the scientific circulation that sheds the light on the activity of the scientific corpora-tion of the Perm University during the years of the revolution and the Civil War. The author concludes that the preservation of the unique monument of medieval Russian history (the archive of the Solovetsky Monastery) was a joint effort of the Perm University and Perm Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. The leading role in this rescue goes to the scholars of the Perm University and personally to Boris Grekov

Last year, the anniversary of all Christianity, witnessed a number of significant events caused by a new interest in understanding the problem of the unity of the Christian Church on the turn of the millennium. Due to the confidentiality of Ukraine, some of these events have or will have an immediate impact on Christianity in Ukraine and on the whole Ukrainian society as a whole. Undoubtedly, the main event, or more enlightened in the press, is a new impetus to the unification of the UOC-KP and the UAOC. But we would like to focus on two documents relating to the problem of Christian unity, the emergence of which was almost unnoticed by the wider public. But at the same time, these documents are too important as they outline the future policy of other Christian denominations by two influential Ukrainian christian churches - the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. These are the "Basic Principles of the attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church to the" I ", adopted by the Anniversary Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Concept of the Ecumenical Position of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, adopted by the Synod of the Bishops of the UGCC. It is clear that the theme of the second document is wider, but at the same time, ecumenism, unification is impossible without solving the problem of relations with others, which makes it possible to compare the approaches laid down in the mentioned documents to the building of relations with other Christian confessions.
