Analyzing the Check-In Behavior of Visitors through Machine Learning Model by Mining Social Network’s Big Data

The current article paper is aimed at assessing and comparing the seasonal check-in behavior of individuals in Shanghai, China, using location-based social network (LBSN) data and a variety of spatiotemporal analytic techniques. The article demonstrates the uses of location-based social network’s data by analyzing the trends in check-ins throughout a three-year term for health purpose. We obtained the geolocation data from Sina Weibo, one of the biggest renowned Chinese microblogs (Weibo). The composed data is converted to geographic information system (GIS) type and assessed using temporal statistical analysis and spatial statistical analysis using kernel density estimation (KDE) assessment. We have applied various algorithms and trained machine learning models and finally satisfied with sequential model results because the accuracy we got was leading amongst others. The location cataloguing is accomplished via the use of facts about the characteristics of physical places. The findings demonstrate that visitors’ spatial operations are more intense than residents’ spatial operations, notably in downtown. However, locals also visited outlying regions, and tourists’ temporal behaviors vary significantly while citizens’ movements exhibit a more steady stable behavior. These findings may be used in destination management, metro planning, and the creation of digital cities.

Generative Adversarial Network Synthesis of Hyperspectral Vegetation Data

New, accurate and generalizable methods are required to transform the ever-increasing amount of raw hyperspectral data into actionable knowledge for applications such as environmental monitoring and precision agriculture. Here, we apply advances in generative deep learning models to produce realistic synthetic hyperspectral vegetation data, whilst maintaining class relationships. Specifically, a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) is trained using the Cramér distance on two vegetation hyperspectral datasets, demonstrating the ability to approximate the distribution of the training samples. Evaluation of the synthetic spectra shows that they respect many of the statistical properties of the real spectra, conforming well to the sampled distributions of all real classes. Creation of an augmented dataset consisting of synthetic and original samples was used to train multiple classifiers, with increases in classification accuracy seen under almost all circumstances. Both datasets showed improvements in classification accuracy ranging from a modest 0.16% for the Indian Pines set and a substantial increase of 7.0% for the New Zealand vegetation. Selection of synthetic samples from sparse or outlying regions of the feature space of real spectral classes demonstrated increased discriminatory power over those from more central portions of the distributions.

Archbishop Irinej and Governor-General Lawinski: The Path to Confrontation between the Secular and Spiritual Authorities

The institute of governor-general authorities is one of the most important political institutes of imperial Russia. Its importance in the country's outlying territories was exceptional. At the same time, the importance of the Russian Orthodox Church in the outlying regions of the country was also significant. The Church promoted the integration of the country's outlying territories into a single imperial framework. Unfortunately, in world and Russian history there have been numerous instances of confrontation between secular and spiritual authorities. These confrontations often led to open conflicts. An example of this is the confrontation between the governor-general of Eastern Siberia Lawinski A.S., and Irkutsk Archbishop Irinej, discussed in this article.

Ecology and Imperium: State Formation in Early Colonial Bengal c. 1765–1800

This article looks at the process of state formation in Bengal in the second half of the eighteenth century when the English East India Company emerged as the paramount authority in the province. The article argues that compared with the previous regime of the Nazims who were content in exercising a loose sovereignty over the outlying regions of Bengal, the Company showed greater initiative in conquering and pacifying the remote areas of the province. In terms of its ecology, the province of Bengal could be divided into three distinct zones: the plains, the hills and the delta. The process of state formation varied in these three distinct eco-zones. While it was easy for the Company to establish its control over the Bengal plains, it became increasingly difficult for them to establish their power and authority in the hill forests (home to autonomous tribal communities who resented and resisted British interference) and in the deltaic tracts where the maze of rivers provided safe refuge and a means of escape to the Magh pirates and every other state fugitive. This article is an account of the Company’s struggles to establish its supremacy in Bengal, but it also looks at the resistance offered by autonomous tribal groups to retain and preserve their independence. Finally, this article attempts to link ecology with the process of state formation in early colonial Bengal.

CAR truth commission may fail to deliver

Subject The Central African Republic's Truth, Justice, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission. Significance The Central African Republic (CAR) parliament in late February passed a bill establishing the Truth, Justice, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TJRRC). The TJRRC is the main justice initiative envisaged under the February 2019 peace agreement between the government and 14 armed groups. However, the TJRRC will face significant political hurdles to delivering on its lofty premise. Impacts It is unlikely that victims will receive reparations without significant technical and financial backing from the international community. Due to its Bangui-centric approach, the TJRRC may neglect abuses committed by the government and armed groups in outlying regions. During the election period, the TJRRC could be employed as a political threat against opposition parties.

Time and Space: Barthes and the Discourse of History

In Roland Barthes’s ‘Michelet, l’histoire et la mort’ (1951), Michelet’s linear journey through centuries of French history is contrasted with the panoramic ‘tableau’ that holds together, in a moment of euphoric understanding, otherwise unconnected points in time. This chapter moves from this play of reversible and irreversible time to that of centred and decentred spaces in an unpublished section of Barthes’s 1966–7 seminar, ‘Le discours de l’histoire’. It suggests that Barthes’s discussion of time and space, which draws on the work of Vernant, Levêque, and Vidal-Naquet, and is applied to Michelet, Machiavelli, and Bossuet, can be mapped onto a shift from a structuralist focus on intra-relations between elements of a structure (as in Lévi-Strauss’s account of totemism) to the nascent post-structuralist emphasis on excentric structures associated with Derrida’s notion of ‘play’. The excentric centre is shown to underpin Barthes’s analysis of Michelet’s Tableau de la France, whereby Jakobson’s account of the poetic function of language is applied to Michelet’s rhetorical construction of the geography of France: the sequential ordering of the outlying regions according to their antithetical characteristics is ‘poetic’ in its form; by contrast, the ‘prosaic’ centre (the Île de France) absorbs and neutralises these differences.

Outcome, quality of life and direct costs after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in an urban region of Switzerland

Background Considering the significant morbidity and mortality of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, only little data on survival or quality of life after successful resuscitation is available in Europe. Additionally, economic aspects of such events are poorly studied. The purpose of this study is to provide data for survival, quality of life and costs directly related to the cardiac arrest for a region of Switzerland served by one emergency medical service (EMS). Methods Eighty eight patients older than 18 years of age that were resuscitated by the EMS Winterthur in the year 2013 were included and retrospective analysis of EMS-protocols was performed. For patients alive at follow-up, 2 years after the event, a structured interview with quality of life questionnaires was conducted. This study was accepted by the local Ethics Committee. Results Thirty five percent (n = 31) of resuscitated patients were admitted alive to the hospital following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This incidence was as high as 60%, if the patients had a shockable rhythm as first rhythm. Survival to follow-up was 16% (n = 14). These patients had an excellent quality of life overall, with little to no limitations in daily life. There was no significant difference in survival for patients in outlying regions with comparatively longer timespans until arrival of EMS. Median EMS-costs for deceased patients were CHF 1731 (inter-quartile range 346), for survivors CHF 2′169 (inter-quartile range CHF 444) and median hospital-costs were CHF 27′707 (inter-quartile range CHF 62′783). Conclusion Quality of care for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the region of Winterthur is high, including patients in outlying regions. The associated costs are similar to other European countries. Trial registration This trial was registered with www.clinicaltrials.gov under NCT02625883.

Urban Population and Identification of Indicators for Affordable Housing in India

Housing affordability has been broadly perceived as a fundamental issue in making practical assembled condition particularly with regards to developing world urban communities. As a result, a large number of the least urbanized and least developed Indian nations' will confront serious difficulties in giving moderate housing to the urban tenants. This exploration is done to distinguish conceivable indicators for affordable housing in India, particularly in the urban zones. Likewise, it inspects the present view of housing affordability in outlying regions through the improvement of a set of empirical indicators. These indicators are applied to give an incorporated affordability record for each statistical area unit across India.

Áreas verdes e desigualdades sociais em um município de médio porte no Brasil / Green areas and social inequalities in a medium-sized municipality in Brazil

O trabalho objetivou calcular e espacializar o Índice de Áreas Verdes Públicas (IAVP) para a cidade de Juiz de Fora – MG. O IAVP foi calculado com base em fotos aéreas datadas do ano de 2000 e 2007, e no Censo demográfico de 2000 e 2010, as áreas verdes tiveram alterações pouco significativas de suas áreas nesse período. Verificou-se um IAV de 10,5 m2/hab para toda a cidade, para o período estudado. Os dados apontam um reduzido IAV por Regiões Urbanas, e mostram a necessidade de uma política pública que busque a criação de áreas verdes, sobretudo para atenderem às regiões periféricas da cidade, onde há maior concentração populacional, menor renda per capita e menor IAV, pois, as áreas verdes é um dos elementos que proporcionam à população melhores condições de vida.Palavras-chave: Índice de áreas verdes públicas, Cobertura vegetal, qualidade de vida.AbstractThe study aimed to calculate and spatializing green area index for the city of Juiz de Fora - MG. The Green Area Index was calculated based on aerial photographs dating from 2000 and 2007, and the population census of 2000 and 2010, green areas have had little significant changes in their areas during this period. It has been found a 10.5 IAV m2/hab across the city. The data indicate a reduced green area index by urban regions, and show the need for a public policy that emphasises the creation of green areas, especially to meet the outlying regions of the city, where occur a higher population density, a lower per capita income and lower green area index. Emphasising that the green areas can provide for the population better living conditions. Keywords: green area index, green area, quality of life.
