The famous financial scandal of Enron, WorldCom and 1 Malaysia Development Berhad has harmed the auditor’s reputation as the protector of shareholders’ rights. Auditors have done their part by conducting systematic audit procedures and “What Could Go Wrong” analysis in assessing the possible risk area to assist fraud detection in the client’s financial matters. However, fraud cases never seem to decline. Regardless of any safeguarding measures established, fraud incidents can just occur and be worsened by economic downturn and prolonged inflation especially after the pandemic ends. Additionally, the characteristic of the modern business environment, technology sophistication and new generation traits had challenged Cressey Fraud Triangle Theory on its validity and relevancy. Therefore, associating all these possible challenges into consideration, this study aims to review prior literature related to the evolution of Cressey fraud theory to propose a new insight in considering relevant motivation factors that drive fraud penetrations. From the review, the study discovered the need for a detailed evaluation and research on the essential fraud element in constructing an all-rounded fraud prevention mechanism.

Abstract The paper covers analysis of high-tech industry development in Latvia, as well as its facilitating and restricting factors. High-tech industries become more important in Latvia both in terms of export share and generated value added; also the number of enterprises and employees is increasing. A stable political system, enabling business environment, a relatively low corporate income tax rate, and government aid are considered as some of the most important facilitating factors. The paper emphasizes the government’s role in promoting and developing the high-tech manufacturing. The most significant limitations are the lack of skilled specialists and sophisticated real estate space, and the remote industrial supply companies and the service centres. Recommendations are given on the possible development directions, including improvements in manufacturing infrastructure, enhancements of the skill level of the labour force, and bringing up a new generation of entrepreneurs.

The present article was aimed at examining the promising capabilities of new generation mobile networks for the implementation of first-class online education based on advanced immersive technologies. The study described the main functional drivers of the modern end-to-end 5G architecture and proposed several options for their application in today’s socio-economic life. It was assumed that, in the long view, 5G could become a facilitator and a quickening agent of Industry 4.0 and SMART Education, giving way to machine learning and the realization of Machine-to-Machine/Man (M2M) and Device-to-Device (D2D) technologies. The article provided an argument that the ability to connect through the 5G network would allow innovative technological solutions to fully realize their potential and create the global telecommunications infrastructure of the digital economy. In order to investigate public opinion toward a 21st-century education and identify the prioritized requests for university training among potential students, a survey of the target audience in the business administration segment was conducted. It involved 100 MBA students of the Graduate School of Business of Kazan Federal University (Russia) and 200 business workers. Respondents were offered to choose the most relevant requirements for the education quality from among 50 proposed variants by determining their priority on a 100-point scale. The analysis of questionnaire results allowed identifying 20 consumer trends and requests in education, which are becoming more and more prioritized in the contemporary business environment. After reviewing the survey outcomes, it was concluded that the main competitive advantages of an educational course are its pace, convenience, and effectiveness in goal-achievement. The provision of these benefits can become possible due to the synthesis of 5G and other digital educational technologies. In view of this, the present work also presented the analysis of promising educational opportunities of 5G for creators of study materials and students.

AbstractThe article presents some strategic aspects of the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology in the field of creating innovative ideas and innovative technical solutions concerning machinery and devices for mining and preparation of minerals as regards their operational safety, productivity and reliability. Special attention is paid to a process of stimulating innovative ideas in a creative atmosphere, as KOMAG researchers and engineers are encouraged to be open-minded and to think in an unconventional way. Two examples of innovative technical solutions are described in detail, i.e. the water-and-air dust control system and the KOMTRACK haulage system for highly productive longwall systems of a new generation. The article contributes significantly to Innovation Engineering which is an important component of Production Engineering in the scope of generating and implementing innovative solutions. The authors presented an ecosystem of innovations, describing several methods of creating innovative ideas. The article concentrates on a role of Polish research institutes which play a key role in creating and implementing innovative solutions, bridging science and industry. Due to an analysis of different methods of generating innovative technical ideas and solutions, it can be concluded that an idea and a need of generating an innovative solution may appear in the research institute or at the industrial partner’s organization. In the case of the KOMAG multi-year experience and practice industrial partners include not only producers of mining machinery and equipment, but also representatives of mines of minerals. In general an innovative idea is generated in the result of an inspiration from the business environment and then it is transformed into an innovative product or service. The article contains the authors’ practical recommendations as regards a creation of innovative technical solutions. It is ended with a summary of general character and with some final conclusions.
