IoT-based measurement systems for manufacturing have been widely implemented. As components that can be implemented at low cost, BLE beacons have been used in several systems developed in previous research. In this work, we focus on the Kanban system, which is a measure used in manufacturing strategy. The Kanban system emphasizes inventory management and is used to produce only required amounts. In the Kanban system, the Kanban cards are rotated through the factory along with the products, and when the products change to a different process route, the Kanban card is removed from the products and the products are assigned to another Kanban. For this reason, a single Kanban cannot trace products from plan to completion. In this work, we propose a system that uses a Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacon to connect Kanbans in different routes but assigned to the same products. The proposed method estimates the beacon status of whether the Kanban is inside or outside a postbox, which can then be computed by a micro controller at low computational cost. In addition, the system connects the Kanbans using the beacons as paired connection targets. In an experiment, we confirmed that the system connected 70% of the beacons accurately. We also confirmed that the system could connect the Kanbans at a small implementation cost.

Purpose Pull production systems have received much attention in the supply chain management environment. The number of Kanbans is a key decision variable in the pull production system as it affects the finished goods inventory (FGI) and backorders of the system. The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of the fixed and dynamic Kanban systems in terms of operational metrics (FGI and backorders) under the demand uncertainty. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, the system dynamics (SD) approach was used to model the performance of fixed and dynamic Kanban based production systems. SD approach has enabled the feedback mechanism and is an appropriate tool to incorporate the dynamic control during the simulation. Initially, a simple Kanban based production system was developed and then compared the performance of production systems with fixed and dynamic controlled Kanbans at the various demand scenarios. Findings From the present study, it is observed that the dynamic Kanban system has advantages over the fixed Kanban system and also observed that the variation in the backorders with respect to the demand uncertainty under the dynamic Kanban system is negligible. Research limitations/implications In a just-in-time production system, the number of Kanbans is a key decision variable. The number of Kanbans is mainly depended on the demand, cycle time, safety stock factor (SSF) and container size. However, this study considered only demand uncertainty to compare the fixed and dynamic Kanban systems. This paper further recommends researchers to consider other control variables which may influence the number of Kanbans such as cycle time, SSF and container size. Originality/value This study will be useful to decision-makers and production managers in the selection of the Kanban systems in uncertain demand applications.

The aim of the project was to optimize the company's inventory management and to suggest measures to minimize inventory and costs and maximize production in an effective and sustainable way. The effectiveness and sustainability of the logistics processes was focused on streamlining of inventory management through the actualization and improvement of existing system Kanban. In the context of sustainable development we propose the Kanban method because its principles are to eliminate waste and to ensure employees satisfied. In the centre of attention is the employee and the company should care for its satisfaction by means of enhancement of workplaces. The objective of this paper is to present characteristics of the Kanban method in theory and practice; it addresses actualization and improvement of the Kanban system and recommendations for future sustainable Kanban system. The work is a part of KEGA project No. 037STU-4/2012 -Implementation of the subject “Sustainable Corporate SocialEntrepreneurship” into the study program Industrial management in the second degree at the MTF STU Trnava.and submitted project VEGA No.č.1/0510/15Sustainable strategic management vs. sustainable corporate social responsibility vs. integrated managementsystem of strategic business units.

Based on ultimate goal of each company in gaining maximum profit with minimum total cost then one of alternative should be done in achieving this goal is avoiding excessive raw material stock resulting in high storage cost. The object of this research is CV. Pabrik Mesin Guntur Malang,an industrial water pumpcompany which is having difficulty in controlling raw material stock so that it often experiences abundant stocks. So,the problem is how to make stock controli n order to reduce stocks a mount that will result in storage cost reduction. Production S ystem Just in Time applying Karban system, that has been being implemented this far by Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, is proposed to be implemented in that company as well in order to reduce prevailing inefficiency result from this existing problem. By applying Kanban system as support for the Production System Just in Time, it is shown that the system is capable in reducing stocka mount by 77.56%f or GTR type water pump and 89.59% for GTO type water pump. While reductions of storage cost achieved are78.99% for GTR type water pump and 90.45% for GTO tlpe water pump

In the globalization economic development, most of industries have been developing strategies to improve efficiency in their production processes. Meanwhile, chili pepper supply chain is still not aware about efficiency and effectiveness in its management. Most actors in chili pepper supply chain face several obstacles, i.e. losses, waste products, and inefficiency in delivery time. This research is focused on the development of chili pepper supply chain performance using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) analysis and aims to create a new key system to develop efficiency and effectiveness. VSM is used as an instrument to enhance comparative advantage in wildly industries. VSM in chili pepper involves operation system such as 6S, Volkswagen production system, visual workplace, quick changeover system, and Hiejunka Kanban system. Those techniques are applied to reduce waste in chili pepper supply chain. The research result shows that chilli pepper supply chain should explore the implementation of VSM.
