Immediate complete denture (ICD) is a mucosa-supported prosthesis manufactured before the removal of natural teeth and installed soon after their extraction. This paper aims to describe a clinical case of oral rehabilitation with upper ICD and lower removable partial denture (RPD). A 57-year-old female patient sought treatment with dissatisfaction with her aesthetics and mobility of the upper teeth. After anamnesis, intra and extra-oral examinations, radiographic examination and analysis of study models mounted on a semi-adjustable articulator, periodontal pockets were found in the upper teeth and extensive bone loss. So, upper tooth extraction, superior ICD and lower RPD were indicated as treatment. For ICD preparation, anatomical and functional moldings were made, made up of orientation and intermaxillary relationship plans for the assembly of the semi-djustable articulator models. The remaining upper teeth were removed from the model for assembly of the artificial teeth and the ICD was polymerized and polished. The lower RPD was made following the standard steps. After dentures manufacturing, the surgery for upper tooth extraction was performed and prostheses installed immediately after surgery. The results demonstrated that the performed treatment provided aesthetic, phonetic, and functional restoration to the patient avoiding her to undergo a period of edentulism. It was concluded that ICD is a good indication for prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with advanced periodontitis, whose planning is the exodontia of all the teeth of an arch.

Bucco-sinus communications are common incidences and may be associated with posterior superior tooth extraction. In large maxillary losses, repairing prostheses have a categorical or essential indication. Thus, the objective of this study is to report a clinical case of prosthetic rehabilitation using a removable partial denture (RPD) due to absence of teeth in the posterior maxilla region resulting from a dento-alveolar fracture as consequence of traumatic injury. A 21-year-old male patient attended the dental clinic at Nilton Lins University, reporting masticatory failure, discomfort and sensitivity when eating cold foods in the right upper molars region. After clinical and radiographic examination, it was observed that in addition to the absence of teeth 16, 17 and 18, there was an extensive bone loss in the right posterior hemiarch, with surgically sealed bucosinusal communication. As treatment plan, rehabilitation using a removable partial prosthesis modified and adapted to the acquired defect was proposed. In the consultations, the stages of study model manufacturing, assemble in a semi-adjustable articulator and delineation. The modification of the metallic frame consisted of a larger connector, like a wide palatal plate 10 mm long without relief on the palate, complemented by indirect twinned clamps and direct “T” type on tooth 15. The case was concluded with the steps of metal frame test, teeth assembly, teeth testing, acrylization and installation. The rehabilitation treatment by means of restorative PPR was satisfactory, as it was observed that after its installation, the patient showed extreme satisfaction with the result obtained, with an explicit improvement in chewing and swallowing.

SummaryBackground/Aim: Congenital defects such as cleft palate and lips require a long-lasting and multidisciplinary approach. In cases when surgical and orthodontic treatment is not feasible, prosthodontic management of these patients is advocated. Prosthetic rehabilitation of cleft palate in concerning of achieving aesthetic and function (such as swallowing and speech) outcomes is very demanding.Case report: Material and method: After performing the necessary surgical procedures and orthodontic treatment, 24-years-old male patient was sent to the Department for Maxillofacial Prosthetics of Istanbul University. Followed the clinical examination, the necessary periodontal and conservative therapy was performed. After radiographic evaluation and dental cast analysis prosthetic rehabilitation was performed. The prosthetic rehabilitation of cleft palate was accomplish with conventional fixed partial denture whose number of included abutment were defined by biomechanical principles. Additionally removable partial denture were manufactured for closing oro-nasal defects and lip supporting.Conclusions: The prosthetic rehabilitation resulted with functionally and aesthetically content prosthesis. With achieving proper swallowing Quality of Life of the patient was enormously enhanced.

The proper knowledge of speech production and phonetic parameters will enables the clinician in fabrication of dentures with good phonetic capabilities. In achieving the optimum phonetic potential by providing correlation among three key objectives i.e. (mechanics, aesthetics and phonetics) of dentistry is the eventual goal of every dentist. This article provides a correlation between occlusion and speech, since the time these two factors are mostly not considered related to each other. But during phonation, the lower teeth functions independently and there remain no contact with upper teeth. This article also highlights the basic utilization of phonation as an indispensible part in placement of upper anterior teeth in complete and partial denture rehabilitation. This is basically because, while restoring natural teeth, we may have to depend on pre-extraction records in order to achieve necessary objectives. And if these records are missing, it is difficult to determining the position of artificial teeth. Hence here, we use phonetics as a guideline for proper placement of artificial teeth.

Oral rehabilitation with free-end removable partial denture (RPD) is one of the major challenges in prosthodontic dentistry. The absence of a distal abutment produces undesirable RPD movement during masticatory function due to the high resilience of the residual ridge, which limits the denture efficiency and may damage the abutment teeth and bone over time. The advent of dental implants made possible to substitute the missing teeth with fixed implant-supported dentures as the first choice treatment to overcome such inconveniences. However, this indication may not be suitable for all patients due to financial, anatomical or systemic health conditions. Nevertheless it is possible to improve free extension RPD by using implants in the posterior edentulous ridge to achieve biological, biomechanical, physiological and social benefits. This article aims to present a case report on oral rehabilitation in which a RPD was made combined with an implant for posterior support in a sizeable edentulous ridge. The patient appreciated the retention improvement and the aesthetic result. The combination of a RPD with a posterior implant is an alternative treatment for cases in which implant-supported fixed prosthesis is not indicated, reducing the displacement and minimizing the limitations of the free-end devices.

Although patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP) are not seen regularly in general dental practice, this is a frequent congenital anomaly; approximately one in every 800 live births results in a CLP. The cause of CLP is unknown, but possible causes are malnutrition and irradiation during pregnancy, psychological stress, teratogenic agents, infectious agents (viruses), and inheritance. Most clefts are likely caused by multiple genetic and nongenetic factors. Prosthetic reconstruction of the anterior maxilla is important for these patients. This paper describes the prosthetic rehabilitation of two patients with CLP, 19-year-old and 21-year-old women, both with surgically treated CLP. In both, an examination revealed a residual palatal defect of  mm and missing maxillary lateral incisors. The 19-year-old was treated with a fiber-reinforced composite resin-bonded fixed partial denture. The 21-year-old was treated with a removable partial denture with an extracoronal attachment system. The prosthetic rehabilitation of the two patients with CLP was evaluated clinically. In both, well-planned prosthetic, periodontal, and surgical therapy resulted in satisfactory function and esthetics, alleviating their deformities. With education and appropriate recall, the patients should be able to maintain their oral health.

Abstract Prosthetic rehabilitation of edentulous patients and patients with one or two own teeth can be established by different treatment modalities. The most commonly used in the treatment of these patients is conventional complete denture or removable partial denture. However, due to increasing problems with this type of therapy, such as insufficient retention, stability, comfort and pain during mastication, it is suggested an overdenture supported by two natural teeth or implants. We will present series of clinical reports. In two clinical cases patients came to the dental office because of the impossibility of wearing lower partial denture, and in one case patient had problems with the upper partial denture. After clinical examination and radigraphic analysis, in all patients, dental implants were implanted. In first case there were implanted two dental implants in the region 41 and 43, in second case it was region 33, and in third case implanatiton is performed in the region of 14, 11, 21. Prosthetic rehabilitation was done after 3-months bone oseointegration period. The treatment consisted in the production of double crowns and overdentures that are retained with locator attachment. This design of the denture significantly improves the quality of patient’s life (the dentures are stable, chewing is improved, the feeling of thermal sensations of food and drink is present, the feeling of taste is complete, and the psychological patient becomes safer).

Aim: To present the report of a female patient, 10 years old, referred for treatment in the Dentistry Clinic of a Brazilian public university.Case report: The patient's oral health condition was unfavorable with biofilm accumulation, pain report and chewing difficulty. After anamnesis, clinical and radiographic examination, the treatment plan included removal of infectious foci (54, 55, 64, 65, 74, 75, 85, 16, 36 and 46) followed by prosthetic rehabilitation. At this stage, the functional restoration of the lower arch was restricted by the imminent eruption of the premolars. In the upper arch, the maintenance of the mesio-distal diameters aims to guarantee the chronological sequence of successors irruption and establishment of normal occlusion. During the monthly follow-up consultations the patient presents a more spontaneous smile, although she still needs constant reinforcement in oral hygiene habits.Conclusions: The rehabilitation of patients with loss of permanent teeth during the mixed dentition phase should consider the peculiarities of this period for the restoration of health without altering the normal pattern of occlusal development.

<p class="AbstractContent">Restoring occlusal plane and occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) in patient with existing indirect restorations who must wear removable prostheses may be a challenge to the dental operator. Onlay removable partial dentures (RPD) are used to re-establish the occlusion in conjunction to replace missing teeth without having to remove the existing indirect restoration. This case report described prosthetic rehabilitation with onlay RPD in patients who were partially edentulous and has reduced OVD. The treatment involved a set of provisional RPD to re-establish the OVD, as well as to evaluate the function, esthetic and speech of the patient, followed by definitive onlay RPD. The mandibular onlay RPD was used to provide stable occlusion and to correct the uneven occlusal surface on the abutment teeth. This treatment able to improve patient’s chewing function through a simple removable prosthesis and conservative on the existing restorations.</p>

<p><strong><em>Background: </em></strong><em>An anterior tooth extraction can cause aesthetic and psychological problems. An Immediate Removable Partial Denture could be the choice of aesthetic rehabilitation because is inserted immediately following the natural tooh extraction. <strong>Purpose: </strong>This paper reported the case of Immediate Removable Partial Denture for aesthetic anterior maxillary tooth rehabilitation in a 41-years old woman teacher. <strong>Case Report: </strong>A 41-years-old woman teacher wasn’t confident with her #22 tooth microdontia and malpositioned. In order to rehabilitated her aesthetic problem could be done by immediate #22 tooth extraction. <strong>Case Management: </strong>Removable Partial Denture preparation was done by removing the #22 tooth. The denture was inserted immediately after the extraction. After the denture was inserted, at the 24-hours, 3 days, 1 week, and 1 month should be evaluated to know the bone resorption process and whether the Immediate Removable Partial Denture should be relined or not. <strong>Conclusion(s): </strong>The Immediate Removable Partial Denture provides an aesthetic rehabilitation and increases the patient’s self-confidence because the patient has no edentulous period.</em></p>

This case report describes the oral rehabilitation of a patient with cleidocranial dysplasia who received a removable partial denture along with silicone-based permanent soft liner to improve esthetic and masticatory function. This patient was the candidate of neither implant nor orthodontic treatment due to medical conditions, history of mandible fracture, age, and risk of fracture after mandibular teeth extractions. Cone-beam computed tomography has made it possible to obtain comprehensive information regarding the morphology and positional relationship of impacted supernumerary teeth. Also, proper collaboration between surgeon and prosthodontist helped to achieve significant improvements in patient’s self-esteem, masticatory function, and esthetic.
