<p class="AbstractContent">Restoring occlusal plane and occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) in patient with existing indirect restorations who must wear removable prostheses may be a challenge to the dental operator. Onlay removable partial dentures (RPD) are used to re-establish the occlusion in conjunction to replace missing teeth without having to remove the existing indirect restoration. This case report described prosthetic rehabilitation with onlay RPD in patients who were partially edentulous and has reduced OVD. The treatment involved a set of provisional RPD to re-establish the OVD, as well as to evaluate the function, esthetic and speech of the patient, followed by definitive onlay RPD. The mandibular onlay RPD was used to provide stable occlusion and to correct the uneven occlusal surface on the abutment teeth. This treatment able to improve patient’s chewing function through a simple removable prosthesis and conservative on the existing restorations.</p>

ABSTRACT A 66-year-old man visited our department with the chief complaint of poor esthetics due to loss of a fixed partial denture in a maxillary incisor tooth and difficulty in mastication due to an ill-fitting, mandibular removable partial denture. An analysis of the occlusal vertical dimension resulted in a diagnosis of infraocclusion. After increasing vertical dimension with a provisional restoration and treatment denture which covered the attritioned surface, a definitive prosthesis was applied. Untreated loss of molars and severe attrition of the remaining teeth caused infraocclusion in this patient, which increased occlusal loading on the incisor teeth and induced detachment of the prosthesis in the maxillary incisors. Esthetic appearance was improved and masticatory dysfunction restored by increasing vertical dimension and oral rehabilitation. Mildly invasive prosthetic treatment involved application of a removable partial denture which covered the attritioned surface, not only infraocclusion but masticatory dysfunction and poor esthetics were also treated. Tooth wear is a common problem seen in population and poses restorative challenge to a dentist as well. Extensive dental procedures are usually required for the treatment of tooth wear associated with loss of occlusal vertical dimension. An overlay removable partial denture provides conservative treatment option for patients with moderate to severe worn down dentition and partial edentulism. It is designed in such a way that some part of denture component also covers the occlusal surface of remaining teeth and replace the remaining teeth to achieve a functionally stable occlusion. This case report is about a patient who was given cast metal overlay upper and lower denture for a correction of lost vertical dimension of occlusion, replacement of few missing teeth and for the prevention from further tooth wear. SummaryBackground/Aim: Congenital defects such as cleft palate and lips require a long-lasting and multidisciplinary approach. In cases when surgical and orthodontic treatment is not feasible, prosthodontic management of these patients is advocated. Prosthetic rehabilitation of cleft palate in concerning of achieving aesthetic and function (such as swallowing and speech) outcomes is very demanding.Case report: Material and method: After performing the necessary surgical procedures and orthodontic treatment, 24-years-old male patient was sent to the Department for Maxillofacial Prosthetics of Istanbul University. Followed the clinical examination, the necessary periodontal and conservative therapy was performed. After radiographic evaluation and dental cast analysis prosthetic rehabilitation was performed. The prosthetic rehabilitation of cleft palate was accomplish with conventional fixed partial denture whose number of included abutment were defined by biomechanical principles. Additionally removable partial denture were manufactured for closing oro-nasal defects and lip supporting.Conclusions: The prosthetic rehabilitation resulted with functionally and aesthetically content prosthesis. With achieving proper swallowing Quality of Life of the patient was enormously enhanced.

Oral rehabilitation with free-end removable partial denture (RPD) is one of the major challenges in prosthodontic dentistry. The absence of a distal abutment produces undesirable RPD movement during masticatory function due to the high resilience of the residual ridge, which limits the denture efficiency and may damage the abutment teeth and bone over time. The advent of dental implants made possible to substitute the missing teeth with fixed implant-supported dentures as the first choice treatment to overcome such inconveniences. However, this indication may not be suitable for all patients due to financial, anatomical or systemic health conditions. Nevertheless it is possible to improve free extension RPD by using implants in the posterior edentulous ridge to achieve biological, biomechanical, physiological and social benefits. This article aims to present a case report on oral rehabilitation in which a RPD was made combined with an implant for posterior support in a sizeable edentulous ridge. The patient appreciated the retention improvement and the aesthetic result. The combination of a RPD with a posterior implant is an alternative treatment for cases in which implant-supported fixed prosthesis is not indicated, reducing the displacement and minimizing the limitations of the free-end devices.

Loss of occlusal vertical dimension is a frequently observed problem in the middle aged and aged population who intends to retain their natural dentition. This type of patient has very few treatment options one of which is overdenture. In this case report, a patient was treated with overlay removable partial denture for restoring the lost vertical dimension. This was provided as interim prosthesis. The follow up was done to observe the fulfillment of desired results. The clinical and laboratory procedure is described briefly. The treatment used for this case is cost effective and conservative solution for esthetic and functional rehabilitation. Since the material is acrylic resin, long term wear resistance is crucial for success of treatment. ABSTRACT Reconstruction of large anterior ridge defects is often a prosthodontic challenge. Such defects require closure of the defect along with the replacement of the missing teeth so as to achieve proper speech and esthetics. Classifying these defects in the preoperative examination helps to diagnose and predict the prognosis and technical difficulties to be encountered. The aim and purpose of this case report is to describe the management of one such case with missing anterior teeth and severe anterior ridge defects. We also describe the process of fabrication of Andrew's bridge (a fixed-removable partial denture) to treat this Siebert's class III anterior ridge defect. Overlay removable partial denture can be used as an interim prosthesis for the patients who have lost their occlusal vertical dimension due to moderate to severe attrition resulting in functional and esthetic problems. This prosthesis is believed to allow neuromuscular adjustments to a newly adjusted VDO and also to observe the function and esthetics. ORPDs provide reversible and relatively inexpensive treatment for the patients who have limitations. In this case report, a patient was treated with overlay removable partial denture for restoring the lost vertical dimension. This article reviews indication, advantage, disadvantages of ORPDs. Though there are esthetic and functional limitations with potential risk of material fracture, all patients with severely worn dentition with decreased VDO and missing teeth should be offered this treatment option. Nowadays one of the prime concern in dentistry is on preservation of remaining natural teeth. Many patients require replacement of missing teeth and associated structures to enhance appearance, improve masticatory efficiency, prevent unwanted movement of teeth (overeruption/ drifting), and/ or improve phonetics. Presence of few teeth in oral cavity helps in preserving alveolar ridge integrity, maintain the proprioception, and gives psychological benefit to the patient. This case report presents a case of a 54-years-old female with few remaining teeth, one remaining tooth in maxilla and two remaining teeth in mandible. Patient wants to get her masticatory function and aestethic back with maintain her remaining teeth. Cu-sil denture is one of the simplest removable partial denture that can replace missing teeth where only few teeth remain in oral cavity. A Cu-sil denture is a denture with holes, lined by a gasket, the holes that providing space for remaining natural teeth to emerge into the oral cavity through the denture.

Adhesive bridge is a fixed partial denture that consisted of pontic and cast metal framework retainer that cementedto abutment teeth by means of adhesive cement, used acid etch technique. Adhesive bridge can be used to replaceone or two anterior or posterior teeth. This case report focused on the making of adhesive bridge in anterior andposterior single missing tooth. By minimal preparation and unanesthesied teeth, patient satisfaction could beachieved. Treatment should be done as patient needed with the adequate clinical technique and specific materialmanipulation.
