We consider the conception of sustainable development in the light of the achievements of the philosophy of science, most clearly represented by the theory of conceptual transduction. Four trends in the development of the conception of sustainable development are considered: the development of the conception of sustainable development at the UN summits, clarification of the concept of sustainable development, correlation of the conception of sustainable development with ethics, and its characterization from the perspective of philosophy of science. The first three trends, having no distinct methodology, do not lead to significant innovations. The fourth trend allows us to translate the content of the conception of sustainable development, including its inherent ethical orientation, into scientific rails. It turns out that in the fullest form the aspirations of modern humankind and its hopes for a favourable future are expressed by the strategy of all-round development of science, which considers the positive content of the conception of sustainable development.

The present article provides a substantiation of the need to use the potential of the philosophy of science in designing a sustainable development project. Along with mathematics and informatics, the philosophy of science is viewed as an auxiliary science designed to help clarify the conceptual and methodological nature of scientific theories. New provisions of science philosophy are presented. The proposition that all axiological theories culminate in ethics is proved. It is also substantiated that natural sciences demonstrate ethical relativity. The project, i.e. both the concept and conception (theory) of sustainable development was designed with no consideration of the achievements of science philosophy including scientific ethics. As the project developed its content became not clearer but, on the contrary, more obscured. The project of sustainable development is reevaluated in light of the philosophy of science. It turns out to be nothing more than a paraphrase of the need for the proper development of the ethical relativity of ecology and its place in the system of balanced scientific ethics. The project of sustainable development presents a paraphrase of certain scientific content that has to be properly addressed. Without this, it has no scientific meaning and should be attributed to the field of everyday language. Thus, the time to put the sustainable development project on a scientific track has come.

The propensity of geography specialization is increasingly prevalent (especially in Indonesia). Geography is no longer interpreted as integrative, covering both physical and human aspects. This resulted in a study by geographers concerning only material objects of geography. Not infrequently it would be overlapping with other science clusters. This condition is disadvantageous, geography can be considered not as a science if it does not have the characteristics/differentiation with other science. It may affect the existence of geography in the future. This article aims to provide the description of the geography from the perspective of philosophy of science. By reviewing the literature, this paper attempts to explain aspects of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontology geography is a science that examines the physical and human aspects. Characteristic of geography study using spatial approach, environment, and area complex. Epistemologically, geography uses both quantitative and qualitative methods. Caused, in examining the physical and human aspects of using the two methods is highly recommended so that the results of geographic studies more comprehensive. As axiology, the existence of geography is increasingly important to sustainable development goals.
