This paper proposes frequency reconfigurable antenna for outdoor wireless communication systems, the 4 x 4 array antenna has designed at two resonant frequencies 7.5 GHz and 8.85 GHz. The periodic dumbbell geometry etched on the ground layer newly proposed with dual functionality, to control desired frequency and to couple radiating patches at the top substrate with feeding line at the bottom substrate. The reconfigurability of the patch antenna is controlled by utilizing the copper pad of the feeding network with OPEN and SHORT states. The reconfigurable antenna has been simulated and optimized using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) to get the desired responds. The good agreement between simulation and measured results indicates that the frequency reconfigurable patch array antenna using Periodic Dumbbell Slotted Aperture Structure (FRPDSA) is feasible to support outdoor wireless communication systems.

This work presents the design and analysis of a beam switching antenna for VANET, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX wireless communication systems. The proposed reconfigurable antenna is powered by a coaxial cable and consists of a circular patch, six fish-shaped radiating elements, and a circular planar ground. The antenna was constructed on a Rogers RT5880 substrate. Its dimensions are as follows: 0.81λ0 × 0.81λ0 × 0.03λ0. It performs six reconfigurable operating states, at the same frequency, by controlling the activation and deactivation of six PIN diodes to change the beam’s direction. A theoretical equivalent circuit model of the antenna is extracted. A progressive analysis of improving the antenna characteristic performances is provided. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 9.07% (measured), 9.62% (simulated), and 9.31% (theoretical). The designed antenna has a maximum gain of 9.57 dB for all pattern states and a superior efficiency ratio from 85% to 95% over the operating range (5.54 GHz–6.10 GHz). The proposed reconfigurable antenna is fabricated. Measured, simulated, and theoretical results are given and show good agreement, including reflection coefficient (S11) and radiation patterns.

This paper presents a triband operation enhancement based on multimode analytics of a monopole antenna designed by combining a rhombic ring radiator with a strip on a top layer and a fractal ring resonator placed at the bottom layer. The proposed antenna can achieve triband operation to support the modern wireless communication systems. The antenna size is approximately 36 × 52 mm2, which is quite compacted compared with the revised antenna. The simulation and measurement results are in good agreement. The antenna covers the operating bands at 22.22%, 9.8%, and 31.27% at the resonant frequencies of 1.8 GHz, 2.45 GHz, and 3.71 GHz, respectively, to support the application bands of LTE 1800, WLAN IEEE802.11b/g, WiMAX, and IMT Advanced Systems (5G). The average gain of the antenna is about 2 dBi. Also, the radiation patterns are omnidirectional for all operating frequencies.

This paper presents the design and development of a new microstrip multi-stopband filter based on tree fractal slotted resonator. A single square patch with tree fractal slots of different iterations are employed for realizing dual stopband and tri-stopband filters. The tree fractal slotted resonators are generated from conventional square patch using an iterative tree fractal generator method. First, second and third level iterations of the tree fractal slot resonator are used to design dual and tri-stopband filters respectively. The first level iteration introduced for the tree fractal slot realizes dual bands at 2.64 GHz and 3.61 GHz while the second level iteration provides better stopband rejection and insertion loss at 2.57 GHz and 3.56 GHz. The tri-stopband filter generates three resonance frequencies at 1.53 GHz, 2.53 GHz and 3.54 GHz at third level iteration. By varying the slot length and width of the tree fractal slot, the resonant frequencies can be adjusted and stopbands of the proposed filter can be tuned for the desired unwanted frequency to be rejected. The proposed narrowband filters finds application in removing the interference of GPS and Wi-Max narrowband signals from the allotted bands of other wireless communication systems

In wireless communication systems, designing of antennae with required parameters is an challenging issue. So, The approach in this paper is to design a corporate fed 2 element antenna array is designed to operate at 2.4 GHz using an FR-4 substrate of height h=1.6mm. For wireless application all the antenna parameters are analysed for two element array antenna with element spacing λ, λ/2 and with miters. It is observed that bandwidth decreases by decreasing the element spacing. But by using miters for antenna with element spacing bandwidth and reflection coefficient are improved. All the antennae are fabricated and tested using VNA E5071C.
