Children always bring so much joy, happiness and laughter to one’s life. Unfortunately, they were al ways being the target to abuse. The effects of child abuse are severe and long - lasting to the victims. While recently Malaysia statistic has reported a sign ificant increment of child abuse cases that have reported in this country. The graph presents a steady growth of these cases without showing any sign of decrement. The victim is only a child, who is innocent, powerless, and incapable to protect themselves without any help, care and support from people around themselves. Hence, this stud y purposed to determine the main factors that contribute to child abuse cases in Malaysia. In this study, FAHP (Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Pr ocess) are used to determine the ma in factors that contribute to the child abuse cases in Malaysia. The data was collected from the official portal of the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The factors used in this study are family dispute, fo llowed boyfriend, unknown, financial problem, negligence of parents or guardian, illegitimate child, stepchild, adopted child or preserved by others during childhood, alcoholic, gambler, drug addicts, abuser suffered mental health problems, abuser was form erly abused and others. Three criteria consist of perpetrators, type of carer occupations and gender of the victim are taken into consideration. The result shows the family dispute was determined as the main factors of child abuse compared to the other fac tors. This finding is very important for the use of the M inistry of W omen, F amily and C ommunity D evelopment responsible for the formulation of policies and guidelines on the development of children, women and families in Malaysia. This effort is expected to reduce the rate of child abuse in turn giving them a better life.

In order to mitigate the anticipated oversupply of office space, it is necessary to gauge the preference of office occupiers, namely tenants of purpose built office buildings, since these tenants form the indicator of demand for space. In this study, a multi-criteria decision making method (MCDM) – the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) procedure was employed to analyse the relative importance of the main factors chosen by the main sectors of tenants at top grade office buildings in Kuala Lumpur city centre. This study had identified the elicitation of experts’ opinion and tenants’ selection comprises twenty-six important factors for office occupation in Kuala Lumpur city centre, grouped under four main categories: Location, Lease, Building and Financial/Cost. This study then employed AHP to assess the relative importance placed on each category, revealing the varying patterns of preferences when tested on tenants from three main business sectors occupying top grade office buildings. The findings showed that, between the three sectors (Finance/Banking, ICT & Media and Oil & Gas), differences in preference were only slight for most factors but were significant for a few. The findings from this study are insightful in informing decisions on future office provision, particularly in the context of working towards satisfying office tenants’ requirements.

To prevent water bursting in mining coals and boring tunnels, analysis of water abundance of aquifer has to be done firstly. Based on analysis of main factors that can influence the water abundance of aquifer, five indices were used-aquifer thickness, drilling fluid consumption, structure distribution density, specific capacity and permeability coefficient. And the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process was introduced to determine the weight of each factor. Combining the data management and spatial analysis of GIS, we calculated and estimated the characteristic of water abundance for the study area. Due to the wide variance of water abundance over the whole study area, we set five rates to show the different results. So the study area was divided into five parts whose water capacity from high to low. The division was consistent with the hydro-geological conditions. So our method could be an alternative.

Soil erosion is a global environmental problem. The affecting main factors for soil erosion processes are different due to the specific areas. The calculated results of soil erosion, by Ha Quang Hai and Tran Tuan Tu, demonstrated that Song Be basin is eroded very huge, about 321 tons/ha/year. The article is based on factors proposed by R.P.C Morgan in 2005, using the analytic hierarchy process AHP (Thomas L. Saaty, 1970) to determine the weights for these factors. Since then, the article concluded main factors affecting soil erosion at Song Be basin. Research results showed that the Terrain factor has the largest weight (0.30), followed by two factors: Plant cover (0.29) and Rain (0.28). The article also identified four main factors impacting on the soil erosion at Song Be basin, including: slope, land cover ratio, intensity of rainfall and slope length. These results will be the basis for subsequent studies to adjust USLE model more applicably for erosion characteristics in the researched area.

Today, the use of herbal medicine like artichoke is rapidly increasing worldwide. The consumption of artichoke as a food source is raising too. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the main factors affecting the growth of this plant which is investigated in this study. A comprehensive analysis of the literature is performed to detect these factors. A fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is employed to prioritize the factors. Results indicate that the conditions of irrigation and soil are the most important ones. In addition, the best conditions for artichoke growth are the medium level of irrigation, soil with suitable drainage, low temperature and sufficient sunlight.

This paper sets the thermal power plant security management system as the research object. First of all, with the application of the Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM), we establish a multi-level hierarchical structure model on analysis of the influencing factors of thermal power plant security management. Furthermore, based on the structure model, we use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine weights of all the influencing factors, in order to identify the main factors. Finally, according to the identified main factors, we provide several suggestions for security management of thermal power plant.

This paper analyzes the main factors that affect the strategies to reduce airlines costs. These costs factors were presented to experts from the airline industry through two rounds of questionnaires in sense to be weighed. It was applied a method based on the structure of the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and the results show that the main important factors for a cost-related airlines strategy are, in importance: route structure and mesh; type and characteristics of the aircraft; cost of labor and management quality. This hierarchy can help the decision maker when facing the need of defining priorities in reduction costs. past decades despite the increase in air transportation and significant decrease in average operation costs, it is observed that airlines have low profitability. The liberalization of the markets and increase opportunities for competition diminishes prices, even when airlines face increasing costs. Considering that advantage in costs is an important strategy for carriers to remain in the market, this paper analyzes the main factors that affect the strategies to reduce airlines costs. These costs factors were presented to experts from the airline industry through two rounds of questionnaires in sense to be weighed. It was applied a method based on the structure of the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and the results show that the main important factors for a cost-related airlines strategy are, in order of importance: route structure and mesh; type and characteristics of the aircraft; cost of labor and management quality. An effective maintenance plan allows one to minimize failures and to ensure the proper functioning of machines in order to obtain the estimated production system performances. On the other hand, inadequate maintenance can cause faults such as a decrease of production levels, compromising customer satisfaction and resulting in economic losses. In the present research, a new model is proposed to develop a support tool for maintenance design. The new approach is focused to the adequate distribution of maintenance budget to units and machines of a production system. It is based on the main factors determining availability of equipment thanks to appropriate indexes, adjusted through a multi-criteria method, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The obtained results can support the budget allocation to maintenance activities, right for machines or units that are strategic to ensure production. The model has been validated through the application to three different industrial plants.
