Undergraduate Thesis

Undergraduate thesis is a scientific paper that students must complete to get a bachelor’s degree. During the completion of the thesis, many students face difficulties in determining research topics, supervision, and administration processes so that they cannot graduate on time. This study aims to analyze the functional needs of the undergraduate thesis information system management that is needed by both students and administrators. This system serves to accelerate the thesis preparation process that is useful for students, supervisors, and thesis administration managers. The procedure of the study was conducted by compiling matrix planning and data collection. As the data source, this study involved 20 students who were writing their undergraduate thesis and 10 alumni who have completed their theses. This sample was selected with the criteria of students or alumni who have been involved in the undergarduate thesis business process. In the process of taking samples reseachers used a purposive sampling method. In addition, difficulties in managing the thesis were also explored by supervisors and study program management. Furthermore, the data were analyzed through PIECES (Performance, Information, Economy, Control, Efficiency, Service). This study produces a list of functional needs on the thesis management system that can encourage students to graduate on time, in which universities can implement this system and socialize it to users.

ABSTRACT<br />Practical work is one of the systematic and synchronous implementation of the campus education<br />program with the skills acquistion program obtanied through direct work activities in the<br />workforce to achieve a certain level of expertise. The process of registration and reporting the<br />implementation of practical work in the information systems studi program is still done manually.<br />Based on this the authors make a practical work information system management based on the<br />study program of the unversity information system Dhyana Pura. For the creation of website<br />applications built using the programming language HTLM, PHP and MySql database. For system<br />design using DFD(<br />data flow diagram)<br />. From the result of making that with existence of<br />information system of practical work management is expected to help student of study program of<br />information system.<br />Key Word : Information System Management, Practical Work, Website<br />ABSTRAK<br />Praktek Kerja Lapangan <br />(<br />PKL<br />)<br /> merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi secara sistematis dan<br />sinkron antara program pendidikan di kampus dengan program penguasaan keahlian yang<br />diperoleh melalui kegiatan kerja secara langsung didunia kerja untuk mencapai tingkat keahlian<br />tertentu. Proses pendaftaran dan pelaporan pelaksanaan Praktek Kerja Lapangan<br />(<br />PKL<br />)<br /> di Prodi<br />Sistem Informasi masih dilakukan secara manual. Berdasarkan hal tersebut penulis membuat<br />Sistem Informasi Manajemen Praktek Kerja Lapangan Berbasis Website Pada Program Studi<br />Sistem Informasi Universitas Dhyanapura Bali. Untuk pembuatan aplikasi website dibangun<br />dengan menggunakan Bahasa pemrograman HTML, PHP dan database MySOL. Untuk<br />perancangan sistem menggunakan DFD <br />(<br />Data Flow Diagram<br />)<br />. Dari hasil pembuatan tersebut,<br />bahwa dengan adanya sistem informasi manajemen praktek kerja lapangan ini diharapkan dapat<br />membantu mahasiswa program studi sistem informasi dalam pelaksanaan peraktek kerja lapangan.<br />Kata Kunci : Sistem Informasi Manajemen, Praktek Kerja Lapangan, Website.

One of information system management that can ease and support information and decision making that needed by medium and upper level management is to provide the easy of acces towards information within or outside that relates with the organization’s goal. This study was conducted in the higher education that has organization structure includes lower, medium and upper level management. The method that used was software delevoping method, i.e. waterfall. The result of this study is this information system can be used to support data menagement of quality assurance for support benchmarking of the higher education, obtain information of the higher education activities that agree with target or visi and mission, and also compare the progress of each unit in the higher education. Therefore, from the exsist studies, it can be easy for the executive boards to make policy and decision for running the higher education.
