Profile of students’ creative thinking and conceptual understanding is essential to create an initial description of students’ competencies in overcoming their learning difficulties. The research aims to describe profile of concept understanding and creative thinking skills of 7thgrade students of all SMP Negeri (public junior high school) in Rasau Jaya sub-district, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, Indonesia in photosynthesis content. The research uses qualitative descriptive method. The sampling technique employs disproportionate stratified random sampling. Samples consist of 143 students of 7th grade from three SMP Negeri in Rasau Jaya Sub-district, Kuburaya Regency, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The data collection technique utilizes creative thinking skill test in the form of an essay with fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration aspects. Students’ concept understanding test is in the form of four-tier diagnostic test. Data analysis employs descriptive statistics with percentage of creative thinking and conceptual understanding in categories of understanding, partial understanding, misconception, and not understanding. The creative thinking skill percentage of SMPN students in Rasau Jaya, Indonesia in the originality and flexibility aspect is in a fairly creative category, whereas in the elaboration and fluency aspect the category is still less creative. The highest percentage of students’ conceptual understanding is misconception of 45.25% and followed by an understanding of 30.64%, not understand of 13.2%, and partial understanding of 10.97%. The obtained data give evidence that natural sciences (IPA) learning knowledge among junior high school students, especially concept understanding and creative thinking, is still low. Therefore, teachers could develop students’ creative thinking skills so their concept understanding could be improved.

A research that has purpose to develop science learning material on pollution matter based on Quantum Teaching model to try student creative thinking skills had been done, it was done in two phase, namely learning material development phase with 4D model from Thiagarajan and try out on 30 junior high school students in class with pretest-posttest design. Data analysis with qualitative and quantitative descriptive. Validation analysis result of learning materials were valid with average of reliability 90,57%  and 80,95% in average of implementation reliability. Test of student achievement on knowledge competency was analyzed by N-Gain. It showed increasing (0,88), average of student skill competency was 3,86 (A-) and student attitude competency was excellent. Student creative thinking skills in the beginning of learning were  42,67% with fair category and in the closing of learning were 70,12% with creative category. Based on research result , it can be concluded that science learning materials on pollution matter based on Quantum Teaching model that had been developed were proper and can be used to try student creative thinking skill of junior high school.

This research aims to determine the student’s higher order thinking skill (HOTS) after learning using the PMRI through LSLC is done approach to the material of number patterns in class VIII. This type of research is descriptive. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII.5 Junior High School number 18 Palembang amounting to 31 students. Data collectin techniques used were observations, giving test questions amounted to one questons in the form of descriptions, and interviews. After conducting the research, there have been many indicators of higher order thinking skills raised by students even though there are still some students who don’t bring up indicators. In addition, by using the PMRI approach and the LSLC system, students become mutually learning and active in learning. The conclusion of this research is the ability of HOTS students in class VIII.5 is enough, which can be seen from the scores obtained by students in the test questions that are in the range of grades 41-60. In addition, the emergence of the analysis (C4) indicator most often appears as much as 63.33%, evaluation (C5) as much as 30% and the creation (C6) indicator is the least indicator that appears as much as 20%.

The purpose of the study was to determine the need for multireperentation modules to foster creative thinking skills in plant structure and function on science learning at junior high school. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The method used in the online form of questionnaires for teacher and students. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the percentage of the results of the number of answers given was divided by the total number of respondents multiplied by 100%. The results of this study indicate that: (1) 95.56% of teacher need a module as teaching material during COVID-19 Pandemic (2) 97.13% of students like teaching materials that contain multirepresentation (3) The reason of teacher need a multirepresentation module are guide for students in doing learning, facilitating distance learning, overcoming time constraints, making learning systematic and directed, representing the presence of teachers. The conclusion of this research is that it is necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of multireperentation modules to foster creative thinking skills in plant structure and function on science learning at junior high school.
