The present study describes a 29 years old patient diagnosed with aseptic osteonecrosis with multiple localization occurred after a corticoid treatment for chronic toxic hepatitis. The clinical and para-clinical examinations determined the diagnosis of Wilson disease and avascular necrosis with multiple localizations. The evolution of the disease was favourable following the surgical treatment consisting of bilateral total hip arthroplasty with cementless prosthesis, hemi-arthroplasty of the left shoulder with cementless prosthesis, orthotopic hepatic transplantation with an entire liver from donor in cerebral death and immunosuppressive, anticoagulant, antiretroviral and gastro-protective treatment. There is an increase of the number of patients undergoing a glucocorticoids treatment for several months, years or lifelong periods. This type of treatment increases the risk of osteonecrosis depending on the dosage and the duration of the treatment.

The aim: To study the effect of drug addiction and smoking on the status of periodontal tissues in patients with hepatobiliary pathology. Materials and methods: 58 smokers, 63 drug addicts with hepatobiliary pathology were examined and 92 persons of comparison group (with inflammatory periodontal diseases affected by hepatobiliary pathology, without addiction). Examination of patients included determination of iodine number by Svrakov, S-L and Stallard hygiene indices, PMA index and index PBI. Results: The results of examination of smokers are worse in patients with cirrhosis than in patients with chronic toxic hepatitis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and also the results of these two groups was significantly worse than that of the comparison group (iodine number by Svrakov – 1,4 times and 1,3 times higher, PMA index – 1,7 times and 1,4 times worse, in accordance). The results of the study showed that drug addicts patients are worse values in patients with cirrhosis than in patients with chronic toxic hepatitis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and also the results of these two groups was significantly worse than that of the comparison group (iodine number by Svrakov – 1,5 times and 1,4 times higher, PMA index – 1,7 times and 1,5 times worse, in accordance). Conclusions: Presence of hepatobiliary pathology in smokers and drug addicts increases the risk of periodontal diseases.

Abstract 1. A micronephelometric method is presented for the quantitative determination of total α-globulins in both serum and cerebrospinal fluid. The method is based on the relatively specific interaction of this protein fraction with the cationic detergent, Octab, at pH 6.65 in collidine-NaCl (.08M) buffer. 2. The various Cohn's protein fractions (Method 6) (25) were investigated with the nephelometric procedure. In comparison with normal serum, Fractions IV-6, IV-1, and IV-4, respectively showed the greatest detergent reactivity per milligram of α-globulin. 3. The variations of such factors as the concentrations of reagents, protein/detergent ratio, and salt concentration were reinvestigated. 4. Analysis of 14 normal and 33 pathologic sera gave excellent checks with the total α-globulin values obtained with the Tiselius electrophoretic method. 5. Application of the procedure to the analysis of the α-globulin content of cerebrospinal fluid required the addition of standard serum to 0.5-ml. aliquots of spinal fluid for stoichiometric results.

In poultry farms, at the conditions of rapid intensification of production, a lot of stress factors, such as infectious, technological, fodder, medication and others, act on the bird organism, and the main burden is borne by the liver. Therefore, timely warning and control of liver disease is very important. One of the marker infections with a potent pathogenic toxic effect on the liver and the bird organism as a whole is pseudomonosis. Objective: study of morphological changes in the liver of broiler chickens at the use of “Karsilin” in the conditions of modeling of infectious-toxic hepatitis for the determination of hepatoprotective action. We conducted a histological examination of the liver of intact chickens (intact control); chickens infected with the strain of P. aeruginosa microorganisms (control pathology); chickens, for which the “Karsilin” or Thiotriazolin was used with preventive-therapeutic purposes at infecting P. aeruginosa. Microscopic picture of liver samples infected with P. aeruginosa chicks corresponds to moderately expressed non-specific reactive hepatitis with morphological signs: disorganization of the hepatic beams pattern, hydrocytic and fatty hepatocyte dystrophy, small foci necroses, inflammatory cellular infiltration; proliferative, stagnant processes, perivascular edema and hyperemia in the system of the hepatic triad. The use of “Karsilin” at experimental pseudomonosis reduced the intensity of pathological processes: the severity of hepatocyte dystrophy was less than 71%, and necrotic changes in hepatocytes and violations of the beam pattern were less than 75% compared with the control pathology. Feed supplement “Karsilin” demonstrates hepatoprotective effect, which is expressed by preventing or significantly reducing the intensity of the manifestation of dystrophic, necrotic, infiltrative and proliferative processes in hepatocytes and in the hepatic triad in conditions of infectious-toxic hepatitis caused by the pathological action of P. aeruginosa toxins in the body of chicken broilers. Feed supplement “Karsilin” on the activity of protective and regenerative action is not inferior, and according to many indicators, the comparison preparation Thiotriazolin prevails.
