The article is devoted to the development of the methodology for the controlled synthesis of protective coatings by the micro-arc oxidation method in order to improve the efficiency of this technology and the quality of the obtained oxide layers. Methodology includes a mathematical model of a galvanic cell based on an equivalent electrical circuit, as well as a model of the interconnections between the technological parameters of the micro-arc oxidation (MAO) process and the properties of the obtained oxide layers based on graph theory. The indicated dependences are formalized using methods of regression and correlation analysis of experimental data. A technique for the controlled synthesis of MAO coatings using the obtained regression equations is proposed. The structure and functioning algorithm of an intelligent automated system for the controlled synthesis of MAO coatings are developed. A prototype of this system was used to obtain experimental dependences of reaction parameters on the influence parameters of the micro-arc oxidation process.

Ceramic coatings were prepared on ZM5 magnetism substrate by micro-arc oxidation method with and without magnetism filed in silicate electrolyte. The morphology of the MAO coatings was investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The friction coefficient of the MAO coatings prepared with magnetism is about 0.2 and more stable than the coatings prepared without magnetism. The polarization test indicated that the coating prepared with magnetism has better corrosion resistance.

Biodegradable materials are currently attracting the attention of scientists as materials for implants in reconstructive medicine. At the same time, ceramics based on calcium silicates are promising materials for bone recovery, because Ca2+ and Si2+ ions are necessary for the mineralization process, and they take an active part in the formation of apatite. In the presented research, the protective silicate biocoatings on a Mg0.8Ca alloy were formed by means of the micro-arc oxidation method, and the study of their morphology, structure, phase composition, corrosion, and biological properties was carried out. Elongated crystals and pores were uniformly distributed over the surface of the coatings. The coated samples exhibited remarkable anti-corrosion properties in comparison with bare magnesium alloy because their corrosion current decreased 10 times, and their corrosion resistance increased almost 100 times. The coatings did not significantly affect the viability of the cells, even without the additional dilution of the extract, and were non-toxic according to ISO 10993-5: 2009. In this case, there was a significant difference in toxicity of the pure Mg0.8Ca alloy and the coated samples. Thus, the results demonstrated that the applied coatings significantly reduced the toxicity of the alloy.

In this study, the influence of electrolytic composition and time deposition parameters on the quality of titanium oxide coating was evaluated. The commercial Ti discs were anodized by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) process using calcium acetate monohydrate 0.5M (CaAc) and a mixture of calcium acetate monohydrate 0.5M and sodium beta-glycerophosphate 0.02M (CaAc + BGF) aqueous solutions. MAO was carried out by applying pulsed DC voltage of 150 V at different processing time (05, 15, 30, 45 and 60 seconds). The films were characterized by SEM, EDS, surface profilometer and XRD. Additionally, osteoblasts culture was carried out in order to verify the cytocompatibility of the anodized surfaces. The results showed the formation a well controlled homogenous microporous structures with irregular shapes for both electrolytes. Presence of Ca and P on the surface was found for films produced with CaAc + BGF electrolyte. Also, the adhesion, spreading, proliferation, and differentiation of osteoblast cells were very similar.
