Based on the analysis of the literature data, the influence of the composition of the shielding gas, the voltage across the arc, the current strength on the power (gas-dynamic) effect of an arc discharge with a non-consumable electrode, the thickness of the liquid layer of the molten metal, and the depth of the crater of the weld pool are shown.

The results of numerical simulation of the ion-optical scheme of ion transport at atmospheric pressure are presented. The possibility of efficient transport of ions in the system under consideration with an increase in the local curvature of the equipotential lines of the electrostatic field in the vicinity of the nozzle by shaping (changing the shape) of this electrode is shown. Shaping the nozzle allows to increase the value of Iсопло by approximately 1.6 times. Taking into account the gas-dynamic effect on the transport of the ion beam through the nozzle makes it possible to obtain the values of the transmission by 70% higher.

The SPB/SFX instrument of the European XFEL provides unique possibilities for high-throughput serial femtosecond crystallography. This publication presents the liquid-jet sample delivery setup of this instrument. The setup is compatible with state-of-the-art gas dynamic virtual nozzle systems as well as high-viscosity extruders and provides space and flexibility for other liquid injection devices and future upgrades. The liquid jets are confined in a differentially pumped catcher assembly and can be replaced within a couple of minutes through a load-lock. A two-microscope imaging system allows visual control of the jets from two perspectives.

We have indicated that the lighter atoms such as oxygen in Cu2O can be observed at the specimen with optimal thicknesses based on the dynamic effect of electron diffraction(1). This rule in principle should hold good for the imaging of other lighter atoms such as sulphur atom in Cu2S. However, this point of view needs further experimentally confirm because up to now only oxygen atoms have been observed in Cu2O and a series of new suboxides of copper and nickel (2). In addition, the sulphur atom is much heavier than oxygen one though is still lighter than copper atom. In the present report we provide such a confirmation. The crystallites of Cu2S shown in Fig.l were obtained by sulfurizing at 300°C of the copper thin film which was sealed in a glass tube with mg sulphur left on the tube wall in a vacuum of about 10-2 Pa. The energy dispersive spectrocscopy analysis indicated that they are the sulfides and the electron diffraction analysis indicated they have anti-fluorite structure.
