For organization of power supply of devices for monitoring and accounting of electric energy for railway traction networks of direct current, the topology of the power source based on a serial chain of voltage converters can be used. The paper considers the development of a methodology for the electrical calculation of such sources. For this purpose, lists of initial data and calculation results are formed. A substitution scheme of ideal elements is proposed. The operation of the substitution scheme is analyzed using the «equivalent source» method. It also provides formulas and recommendations for selecting and determining the required parameters. The adequacy of the proposed method is confirmed by a full-scale experiment

The paper considers the problems that arise when using power sources from the network of own needs of a traction substation, reviews the main technical solutions of sources powered from the traction network, and also offers an original solution that has a high efficiency compared to its prototype

Objective: To improve traffic safety, reduce the environmental impact and to save electricity by using the energy of river flows to supply river bridges with power. Methods: A renewable and quite cost- effective source of electric energy can be obtained by using small hydroelectric power stations (GES). A project on installation of small submersible GES on the bridge footings over the Neva River in Saint Petersburg is described in the given article. Results: The powers of hydraulic turbines for each bridge were calculated based on their energy consumption and the number of possible turbine installation places. Practical importance: It is supposed to give generated electric power to the traction network of electric transport or to accumulate it in storages providing power supply of a nearby infrastructure at any time. In addition, strengthening of the present distribution network within the city by means of the additional sources of electricity will be provided.

The growing shortage of energy resources to provide heavy traffic and high-speed traffic necessitates the development of a new power supply scheme for a traction network using sources of distributed generation of electric energy. Application of asymmetric distributed traction power system with the use of distributed generation allows to increase electric energy efficiency of the feed system of rolling stock, reduce its material capacity and increase the reliability of the functioning of the railway system as a whole. The proposed structure of the hybrid electric traction system involves the creation of a new paradigm aimed at ensuring high demands on the voltage and specific power in the traction network, which will allow to improve the quality and safety of the transportation process when increasing the energy performance indicators. This paradigm will allow to form a new philosophy of building traction power systems. The key elements of this philosophy are decentralization of generation and consumption of electric energy, the use of intelligent electric equipment, distributed power supply management in a single information space of the energy process during transportation. The peculiarity of the proposed work is the optimal combination of technological processes of transmission, consumption of electric energy and transportation, taking into account the specific conditions of functioning of the electrified section: points of connection of power sources and their type, profile of the track, schedule of trains, types of rolling stock and equipment. Conceptually, the hybrid traction power system is an electric hub, in which the inputs are generating points, and the output is the power supply system of the rolling stock. The internal structure of the electric power objects of the hub is determined by the type of transformation and accumulation of electric energy and ways of managing these objects in real time.

The railway traction network line is one of the technical elements ensuring proper operation of railway traffic. Due to its technical function and specificity, it is an essential element of the railway infrastructure. That is, why diagnostics of traction networks is a very important issue. In the article, the authors presented issues related to the diagnostics of 3kVDC traction networks. An analysis of traction network faults for a group of power supply areas was also presented. Additionally, calculations of damage indicators in a selected, representative power supply area are presented. On the basis of made an analysis authors proposed solutions aimed at minimizing breakdowns in traction networks.

The paper is dedicated to the investigation of electric energy quality in AC traction network. The object of investigations is voltage in the AC traction network on buses of 27.5 kV in the AC functioning substation. The probabilistic-statistical value of the voltage level and values of electric energy quality according to voltage non-sinusoidality is under fulfillment. There are shown numerical characteristics and histograms of the distribution density of values under analysis for two operation modes of the AC traction substation – switching on and off of the longitudinal capacitive compensation device formed on the basis of natural measurements. The probabilistic-statistical processing of natural measurements results in power supply arms of the functioning traction substation located in the Far-East of the Russian Federation is carried out. The analysis results are shown as distribution density histograms of random values according to the standard law and in a table form. The longitudinal compensation device impact upon quality values of electric power according to the voltage is under consideration. The calculated indices of electric power quality at the traction substation are compared with the requirements of GOST 32144-2013 in force. It is mentioned that upon buses of 27.5 kV of the traction substation both in the mode of UPK switching on, and in the mode of its switching off the electric power quality by the factor of voltage harmonic components does not satisfy the requirements of GOST 32144-2013 in a number of harmonics. On the basis of the complex estimate of voltage parameters there is drawn a conclusion of the positive impact of longitudinal capacitive compensation devices upon voltage level and the absence of a distinct effect upon a harmonic structure of voltage in a traction network at longitudinal compensation switching on. The conclusion is drawn about filtration expediency of voltage highest harmonic components in power supply arms of the traction substation to bring quality indices on voltage non-sinusoidality to the requirements of the standard in force.

The article discusses methods for determining the hydraulic resistance of units of an accident-resistant fuel system. A detailed description of the need to create such fuel systems for modern helicopters is given. The development of such systems today is impossible without the use of the method of mathematical modeling, which allows to qualitatively solve problems arising in the design process. To obtain accurate research results, it is necessary to have a complete description of all elements and assemblies of the system. Methods for determining the hydraulic characteristics of AFS elements using the drag coefficient, reference literature and CFD codes are considered. As the investigated AFS units, a drain valve and burst fitting were studied in the article. A hydraulic calculation of these AFS elements ware performed, the simulation results are presented in the ANSYS CFX software package. Also as the calculation results of bursting fitting, the pressure distribution fields of full and static pressure, velocity and streamlines are also shown. An experimental setup for validating the results obtained using the mathematical modeling method is considered, as well as a methodology for conducting a full-scale experiment to determine the hydraulic resistance of the unit. Materials have been prepared for inclusion in a one-dimensional mathematical model of an accident-resistant fuel system.

The article substantiates the necessity of organizing the control system of modern lithium-ion batteries. Passive and active methods of cell balancing are described. The method of increase of efficiency of modes of accumulation of electric energy by means of the special electronic control device (the intellectual controller) and its further use for power supply of the functional equipment is considered. The structure of the intelligent controller as a part of the autonomous power supply system with the description of its main functional units and purpose is presented. Practical results of application in the intellectual controller of original adaptive control algorithms defining modes of operation of lithium-ion drives depending on various environmental conditions are resulted. The results of the analysis obtained by the results of experimental operation of the battery system, reflecting the qualitative and quantitative advantages of the proposed method.
