Contemporary society is an information society with highly developed information. Its network and digital characteristics are bringing tremendous changes to the whole society. China's library and information science is no exception, and its research content is also expanding. It is a core journal that can reflect the actual situation of research in the subject area and conduct academic exchange as an authoritative representative of a certain subject area. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to conduct comprehensive research based on the development history of library and information science, quantitative and qualitative analysis of academic journal articles, research related topics and keywords, not only to further understand library and information science, but also to accumulate knowledge of library and information science, and also through scientific development trend, based on the experience summarized by the predecessors, allows us to more fully recognize the important role of library science and information science, and to improve the theoretical literacy and research level of relevant researchers. At this stage, it is even more necessary for researchers to look at and study library and information science with a developmental perspective. Based on this, the article mainly analyzes the research significance of library and information science, and analyzes the output of China's library and information science journals. It uses Ucinet software to visualize the main research hotspots, and finally analyzes the dynamic factors affecting the research of library and information science in China in order to provide a reference.

The 21 authors of this study, 19 of whom are non-native English speakers, reflect on the barriers to publishing academic journal articles in top international journals. Each author responded to the same set of questions pertaining to educational (PhD) opportunities for emerging scholars, financial conditions for researchers, and challenges in publishing their work. Limited English language skills, lack of research funding, and different research topics were identified as the most significant barriers to publish in the journals. Recruiting volunteers or using electronic translations for accepted articles for journals, reducing software and subscription to academic journals costs, expanding journal scope, and providing guidance and collaboration across borders are possible measures to reduce the negative impact of the barriers.

ABSTRACT Libraries play a vital role in SDGs implementation by enhancing access to relevant information. It is on this premise that this paper evaluates the impact of libraries towards realising the sustainable development goals (SDGs). A synopsis of the functions, roles and impact of librarians as well as discussions on the paradigm shift of libraries from performing the roles of information custodians of information resources to harbingers of initiatives that are new and technologically-advanced, and its positive effects on service delivery and accomplishment of SDGs are discussed. The reviewed literaturewere a selection of Library and Information Science publications as well as other relevant academic journal articles ranging from 2010-2019. This paper also recommends measures geared towards the attainment of SDGs through librarianship, such as continuous capacity development programmes as well as the need to update library and information management curricula especially in African higher educational institutions.

Abstract:Health and medical informatics education has meanwhile gained considerable importance for medicine and for health care. Specialized programs in health/medical informatics have therefore been established within the last decades. This special issue of Methods of Information in Medicine contains papers on health and medical informatics education. It is mainly based on selected papers from the 5th Working Conference on Health/Medical Informatics Education of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), which was held in September 1992 at the University of Heidelberg/Technical School Heilbronn, Germany, as part of the 20 years’ celebration of medical informatics education at Heidelberg/Heilbronn. Some papers were presented on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the health information science program of the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Within this issue, programs in health/medical informatics are presented and analyzed: the medical informatics program at the University of Utah, the medical informatics program of the University of Heidelberg/School of Technology Heilbronn, the health information science program at the University of Victoria, the health informatics program at the University of Minnesota, the health informatics management program at the University of Manchester, and the health information management program at the University of Alabama. They all have in common that they are dedicated curricula in health/medical informatics which are university-based, leading to an academic degree in this field. In addition, views and recommendations for health/medical informatics education are presented. Finally, the question is discussed, whether health and medical informatics can be regarded as a separate discipline with the necessity for specialized curricula in this field. In accordance with the aims of IMIA, the intention of this special issue is to promote the further development of health and medical informatics education in order to contribute to high quality health care and medical research.
