The use of dental hand pieces endanger dentists to vibration exposure as they are subjected to very high amplitude and vibration frequency. This paper has envisaged a comparative analysis of vibration amplitudes and transmissibility during idling and drilling with micro motor (MM) and air-turbine (AT) hand pieces. The study aims to identify the mean difference in vibration amplitudes during idling, explore different grasp forces while drilling with irrigant injection by the dentist, and various vibration transmission of these hand pieces. The study utilized 22 separate frequency resonances on two new and eight used MMs and two new and eight used ATs of different brands by observing the investigator at 16 different dentist clinics. The study adopted a descriptive research design with non–probability sampling techniques for selecting dentists and hand pieces. Statistical methods like Levene Test of Homogeneity, Welch ANOVA, independent t-test, and Games–Howell test were utilized with SPSS version 22 and MS-Excel. The results reveal that vibration amplitudes and vibration transmissibility when measured at position 2 are higher than in another position 1. Vibrations during idling for used MMs are more than AT hand pieces, and the used MM (MUD) and used AT (AUA) hand pieces differ due to their obsolescence and over-usage. Vibration amplitudes increase every time with the tightening of grasping of the hand piece. Vibration amplitudes for each grasping style of MM hand piece differ from all other grasping styles of AT hand pieces. Routine exposure to consistent vibrations has ill physical, mental, and psychological effects on dentists. The used hand pieces more hazardous as compared to newer ones. The study suggests that these hand pieces must be replaced periodically, sufficient to break between two operations, especially after every hand piece usage. Hence, the present research work can be further extended by creating some control groups among dentists and then studying the vibration amplitude exposure of various dental hand pieces and subsequent transmissibility to their body parts.

In this paper are presented some aspects of transmissibility control of mechanical systems with 1 DOF so that the effects of vibration on their action to be minimized. Some technical solutions that can be used for this purpose is analyzed. Starting from the mathematical model of an electro-mechanical system with 1 DOF, are identified the parameters which influence the effectiveness of the transmissibility control system using an electrodynamic actuator who work in "closed loop".

Based on the model similarity theory, this article deduces the model similarity relationship of the elevated railway box girder at the elastic stage and designs a 1/10 box girder scale model by adopting a 32 m simply-supported box girder bridge from the Beijing–Shanghai Railway as the prototype. It then verifies the validity of the model design and the dynamic similarity between the 1/10 model and the prototype through constraint mode and free mode experiments on the 1/10 scale model, together with transient finite element calculation. The dynamic calculation model is utilized here for the analysis of the errors occurring in the production of the model, and the effect of the model structure simplification on the box girder mode frequency and vibration response. Finally, the article studies the vibration transmissibility characteristics between the plates and along the longitudinal direction by means of model testing. It also discusses the effect of different bridge support stiffness on the box girder vibration. The results presented in this paper can provide a method for forecasting and evaluating the existing or plan-to-build high speed railway environment vibration.

Most of the shipped products are sensitive against shock and vibration events during the distribution. Various cushioning materials are usually used to prevent the product damages. During the design process the protective packaging system is developed by the engineers based on the cushion and vibration transmissibility features (ie. cushion curve) of the material used. However, after the assembly of the packaged-product, these are stored for various long periods in warehouse. During this time the products pre-load the cushioning material and its parameters can be changed. The main goal of this study is to evaluate the vibration transmissibility of PE and XPE cushioning material at varied storage (pre-loaded) time and static load conditions. Four different kinds of duration (1 hour, 10 hours, 100 hours and 1000 hours) were used for the pre-loading period at three different static loads (3.488 kPa, 4.651 kPa, and 6.976 kPa), and then at 0.5 oct/min sine sweep vibration the peak frequencies of response and vibration transmissibility, and damping ratio were determined. The results show that the effect of pre-loading is minimal by PE material, but can influence the resonance frequencies by XPE cushioning material. The findings of this study help the packaging engineers to understand better the mechanism of these cushioning materials and to design suitable protective packaging systems.

In order to solve the vibration problem of diesel engine powertrain assembly at its idle state, a six degree-of-freedom dynamics model of the powertrain mounting system is established and a optimization based on Adams/View is applied to simulation and analysis on the powertrain mounting system with energy decoupling method. The results show that the optimized repositioning mounts installation position can effectively improve decoupling rate in main vibration directions of mounting system. Based on this, the vibration transmissibility and acceleration response before and after optimization are simulated. The results show that the optimized engine mounting system makes a great improvement of vibration isolation performance.
