Abstract. The change in the educational paradigm in the 21st century requires students to have good basic knowledge and understanding to develop Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Chemical equilibrium is an abstract material and complex, so it requires good thinking skills to understand the concepts. This Study aims to determine the effect of the application of guided inquiry models on HOTS in chemical equilibrium. This research uses Pre-Experimental Design with One Shot Case Study model with 25 students of Billfath University as subjects. The data were collected using the HOTS test instrument in the form of 15 multiple choice questions. Hypothesis testing used the Independent Sample T-test (non-parametric). The results showed (1) the high-level learning outcomes of students with high initial abilities were better than students with low initial abilities, (2) there was a significant effect of applying the model Guided inquiry learning towards student high-level learning outcomes.

This study aims to produce instruments that can measure the level of students' higher order thinking skills that are valid and practical for students of class XI SMA. The developed instrument contains 40 multiple choice questions, and 10 essay questions consisting Taxonomy Levels C4, C5, and C6 with indicators of high-level thinking critical thinking, decision making, problem solving and creative thinking. This  research used the Research and Development (R&D) type of Tessmer's modified formative evaluation with the stages of self-evaluation, prototyping (expert review, one-to-one, and small group). The result of tis research indicates that the instrument for measuring higher order thinking skills in class XI Biology SMA students developed is categorized as very valid and very practical with the validity value of expert rivew very valid (89.9%), one-to-one is very valid (87, 5%)). And the practical value of teachers is very practical (91.33%), and students are very practical (87.15%).

Learning activities at MAN 2 Marabahan so far have led to observation activities but have not optimally applied the guided inquiry approach in detail. This resulted in students' higher order thinking skills have not been honed, which is actually very necessary in physics education. This study aims to measure students' higher order thinking skills. This research was analyzed descriptively. The samples of this study were students of class XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 3 as the treatment and class XI IPA 1 as the control class. Based on the results of the study, students' higher order thinking skills were better when using a guided inquiry approach. This study aims to determine the improvement of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Economics lessons through the Inquiry model in class X students. IPS.1 Tanjung Jabung Timur 9 High School. This research was conducted in Tanjung Jabung Timur 9 High School in the academic year 2018/2019. This research is classroom action research with research procedures covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all students of class X. IPS.1 Tanjung Nabung Timur High School 9 9 which consisted of 36 students consisting of 16 male students and 20 female students. The object of this research is the application of the Inquiry model to improve Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Data collection techniques used were observation, interview, documentation, journal and test assessment. Analysis of data obtained by calculating the percentage of graduation of students in high-level thinking skills. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in Higher Order Thinking Skills in Economics in class X students. IPS.1 SMA N 9 Tanjung Jabung Timur. It can be seen that the average increase and graduation from cycle to cycle. In the first cycle the percentage of student graduation was 36.11% and HOTS was 13, and in the second cycle it increased by 41.67% with HOTS as many as 15.

This article describes the results of Action Research conducted in an ESP classroom of Dhofar University located in Oman. Following the call of Oman Vision 2040 to emphasize educational practices that promote the development of higher-order cognitive processes, this study raises the following question: Can an online multiple choice question (MCQ) quiz tap into the higher-order cognitive skills of apply, analyze and evaluate? This question was also critical at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic when Omani universities switched to the online learning mode. The researchers administered an online MCQ quiz to 35 undergraduate students enrolled in an ESP course for Engineering and Sciences. The results showed that MCQ quizzes could be developed to tap into higher-order thinking skills when the stem of the MSQ is developed as a task or a scenario. The study also revealed that students performed better on MCQs that tap into low-level cognitive skills. This result can be attributed to the prevalent practice in Oman to develop assessment tools that tap only into a level of Bloom’s taxonomy, which involves the cognitive process of retrieving memorized information. The significance of the study lies in its pedagogical applications. The study calls for the use of teaching and assessment practices that target the development of higher-order thinking skills, which is aligned with the country’s strategic direction reflected in Oman vision 2040.

The use of instruction tools that only explains the instruction material, but does not know the extent to which students' understanding causes the instruction process to be less than optimal. This study aims to find out the development process, feasibility, and the influence of using student worksheet based on higher order thinking skills in improving Mathematics learning outcomes at MIN 3 Tulungagung and SDI Qurrota A'yun Ngunut Tulungagung. This study uses the development research model of Borg, and Gall. The results show that: (1) The development of HOTS-based worksheets begins with preparing instruction materials in accordance with the Core Competencies and Basic Competencies listed in the 2013 Curriculum.Furthermore, the researcher makes examples of HOTS questions that are in accordance with the material that has been presented, making questions individual and group practice questions and then make competency test questions at the end of the chapter. (2) The worksheets based on HOTS are suitable for use in improving Mathematics learning outcomes. This can be seen from the results of due diligence by media and material experts. (3) There is an influence of using HOTS-based worksheets as indicated by the significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental class that does instruction using HOTS-based worksheets and the control class that does instruction without HOTS-based worksheets. This is based on the data from the t-test results in which sig-2 0.040 <0.050 is obtained.
