The data for this study were collected through a survey of 216 bank customers in Makassar, and the responses were analyzed to assess the linkage of customer satisfaction toward customer loyalty with trust as mediating variable. The research findings indicate that in the banking industry, customer satisfaction and trust positively effect on customer loyalty. PurposeThe purpose of this study is to determine the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction and loyalty and the mediating role of customer satisfaction in the supermarket sector.Design/methodology/approachIn total, 480 supermarket customers participated in an intercept survey in four urban centres of Fiji. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the level of service quality provided by supermarkets, and inferential statistics to determine the gap between customer's service quality expectations and perceptions and to test the research hypotheses.FindingsThe findings indicate service quality of supermarkets is perceived as being unsatisfactory, service quality significantly affects customer satisfaction and loyalty and customer satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty reducing customer's perceptions of service quality, leading to lower customer loyalty.Practical implicationsThis study provides an indication as to where supermarkets should target their marketing attention and scarce corporate resources and may help in their efforts to service, satisfy, retain and attract more long-term loyal customers in the increasingly competitive supermarket sector. This research could inform government policy makers in sequencing the supermarket sector transformation and assist local supermarkets to adapt to this changing retail landscape.Originality/valueThis study advances our understanding of the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction and loyalty and the mediating role of customer satisfaction in the supermarket sector.

This study investigates the relationships between service quality determinants namely tangible, reliability, responsiveness, competency, courtesy and credibility, with customer satisfaction and loyalty in the context of Malaysian hypermarkets. The paper also investigates the mediating role of customer satisfaction and also determines whether location (from the strategic perspective) plays a significant moderating role in the customer satisfaction-customer loyalty linkage. The findings suggest that service quality has significant relationships with  customer satisfaction and customer loyalty measures. The result indicates that three service quality determinants specifically tangibles, courtesy and credibility demonstrate high associations with customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. The result suggests that customer satisfaction has significant mediating role in the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. In addition, location moderates the linkage between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in both directions. The findings suggest that a more strategic location of a hypermarket can strengthen the relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze whether service quality, trust, and corporate image directly influence customer satisfaction and loyalty. Besides, it also examines the indirect effect on loyalty through customer satisfaction.Design/Methodology/Approach: The sample is customers who have made insurance claims, with 206 people to be respondent, from PT. Prudential Life Assurance, PT. AXA Mandiri, PT. AIA Financial, and PT. Bumiputera Life Insurance. Data were analyzed using SEM-AMOS analysis techniques.Findings: The results of this study indicate that service quality, trust, and corporate image directly have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. Finding also shows that service quality and trust, directly have a positive but not significant impact on customer loyalty. In contrast, company image and satisfaction directly have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty. The role of customer satisfaction as a mediating variable shows that service quality, trust, and corporate image indirectly have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty.Implications/Originality/Value: So it is concluded that service quality, trust and a higher corporate image will be able to provide higher loyalty if customer satisfaction as an intervening variable also increases. That is, if life insurance customers are less satisfied with service quality, trust, and company image, it is difficult to realize high customer loyalty.

Emergence of technology has not only boosted the growth of customer engagement but has also paved way for customers to become active co-creators with the firms. Customer engagement activities are taking over the customer relationship building activities in the present scenario. Customers’ experience with a particular brand has its impact on satisfaction levels and their repurchasing intention in future as well. According to Rosetta Consulting report an engaged customer is likely to buy 90% more frequently and may spend 300% more than other customers. Hence, the present has tried to understand the mediating role of satisfaction on customer engagement in retaining the customers or persuading the customers to repurchase. The results show that there exists a significant mediation effect of customer satisfaction in influencing their repeat purchase behaviour.

The role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on firm performance is well documented in the literature. Although the majority of the evidence available points to a positive association between CSR and determinants of company performance such as monetary performance, personnel commitment and corporate identity, findings still remain rather inconclusive as negative or no correlation results are also reported. In addition, little is known about how CSR is perceived from a bank customer’s point of view and studies examining its effect on customer satisfaction and loyalty in developing economies are scanty. Drawing insights from the stakeholder and signaling theories, this study examines the effect of CSR on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. The study also examines the mediating role of trust on these relationships. Data from 348 bank customers in Zambia indicate that CSR positively affects satisfaction and loyalty. It was also established that trust has a significant mediating effect on the relationships. With the increase in complexity and dynamism of today’s business environment banks are advised to be more socially responsible as one way of building trust and customer satisfaction and loyalty.
