Due to the increasing demand for travel by train in recent years, the large potential number of passengers in Jakarta - Surabaya corridor needs to be anticipated with adequate transportation system planning so that the bottlenecks on available transportation network system can be minimized. This paper analyses the potential competition between the demand of executive passenger train and Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train which will be built by the Government as planned. This study only use travel time variables and ticket rates as independent variables between executive passenger train and high-speed train, then stated preference methods and binomial logit models are used as tools for processing data. As a result, we believe that the operation of Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train will have a negative impact on the demand of executive passenger train on this route.

With a rigid requirement for environment protection, governments need to make appropriate policies to induce firms to adopt green technology in consideration of the rapidly increasing demand for environmentally friendly products. We investigated the government policy from the perspective of a supply chain, which consisted of the upstream government (she) and the downstream manufacturing firm (he). The government decided on the policy (tax or subsidy) to maximize the social welfare, while the firm decided on the greenness level of the product, which affects the consumers’ choice behavior and hence his own demand. Assuming else being equal, the government should adopt the tax policy if consumers are very sensitive to the greenness, the cost of greening is high, or the negative impact due to carbon emission is large, and subsidize the firm otherwise. We also conduct some numerical studies when price is endogenous. The main insights can be carried over.

High speed train (HST) has received plenty of attention due to the characteristics of safety, quickness, convenience and better service in China over recent years. With consideration of rapid development of HST and intense competition between HST and other transport modes, it is essential to estimate the travel demand for HST. In this research, a disaggregate logit model is applied to estimate the travel demand for high-speed train based on stated preference data. Considering the independence of irrelevant alternatives attribute, a nested structure is chosen to these alternatives. Besides, both the service attributes of transport mode and passengers' attributes are taken into account when establishes model. The results obtained confirm that HST occupies a significant position in modes conpetition and have an important impact on air in middle and long distance market.

The article deals with the problems and solutions of suburban passenger transport as a factor of increasing demand for rail transport, reducing their cost and travel time. We are studying a multimodal transport system that is being upgraded and used on the route Krasnoufimsk–Druzhinino–Yekaterinburg. In conclusion, it is concluded that it is necessary to calculate the bandwidth of the path of the high-speed train, an analysis of traffic flow from each departure point, calculate the costs necessary for the project.

Modelling of turbulence is a vital issue for flow forecasting which is of great interest for most of engineering applications like flow over planes, movement of pollutants and some industrial processes. Originally, via solving the government equations (Navier-Stokes equations) the flow field can be simulated. With developing PCs and high-performance computers, implementing of Navier-Stokes equations for numerical simulation is increasing. In this research, the effects of some wall functions on aerodynamic and turbulence behavior of air flow around a simplified high-speed train via OpenFOAM software are numerically investigated. In the following, first, the effects of some default and common wall functions of OpenFOAM on the flow and aerodynamic key parameters are analyzed and then, a relatively new wall function called “Enhanced Wall Function” was implemented from ANSYS FLUENT into OpenFOAM and improvement for comprehensive simulation. Variations of flow key parameters such as velocity, pressure distribution and aerodynamic significant components and parameters such as lift, drag and side coefficients under the influence of wall functions changes are illustrated. The results could be used for obtaining more accurate analysis of aerodynamic characteristics of fluid flow around high-speed trains.

For centuries, it is known that people always prefer to accommodate in the region where there is good transportation network. Proper organization of transportation is one of the key elements which influence the dynamics of the World economics system development. Thanks to infrastructure modernization which allows to transfer the goods between engaged parties, it is possible to increase production and commonly to intense exploitation of areas located near this infrastructure among others in industry purposes. With regard to increasing demand for effective and efficient transportation system, there is a real need to improve communication and transportation infrastructure. A chance for this target shall be modern high technologies, which allows running with very high speed and thus also to reduce journey time. For this purpose there were established and is still developing relatively new product – high speed rail which is supposed to revolutionize modern transportation system functioning in the World. The article calls attention on a chance for improving competitiveness of rail freight transportation in Poland thanks to developing high speed rail network. There is underlined also rationality of modernization of the rail line which connect the biggest cities in South part of Poland. The descriptive part of the article refers to the high speed rail system and its development conditions. The research part is a technical feasibility study about section Cracow – Katowice – Wroclaw and possibilities for adopting it to achieve high speed rail line parameters.

Technological developments have increased the possibilities, comfort, reliability, and speed of the transportation network in the world. Today, various transport vehicles try to meet the speed, economy, and safety demands of passengers. However, as the passengers' demand increase depending on the population, the requirement for innovation in this field increases. Various studies have been carried out to determine the benefit-cost ratio of Hyperloop, an alternative developed to meet the speed requirement in this respect. The decision to build the Hyperloop anywhere else in the world depends on the system's characteristics, such as sustainability, economy, safety, and response to passenger demands. In this study, Hyperloop and existing systems were compared with comfort, safety, and cost considering these criteria. It was focused on the commercial planes, Maglev, and high-speed train features, as they are similar to Hyperloop in these comparisons. Based on the relevant data, it has been reached that the Hyperloop system could prevent it from becoming a widespread public transport vehicle because of its low passenger capacity and expensive construction and operation.

The article presents the results of theoretical studies to establish the nature of the distribution and determine the speed of the air flow formed along a moving high-speed passenger train. In studies, to preserve the geometric similarity, a high-speed train is considered in the form of a bar (or plate) of rectangular cross-section moving in three-dimensional space. To simplify the problem, the movement of a high-speed train at a speed of 160-250 km / h in flat terrain, when the height of the embankment is constant, is considered. Assuming that when a high-speed train moves, a turbulent wake is formed, the problem is solved for a turbulent flow using the method of the equivalent heat conduction problem. An equation for the distribution of the layer and along a moving high-speed passenger train is obtained. The results obtained at this stage made it possible to establish the size of the boundary layer and the nature of the change in the distribution of the air flow velocity in its aisles; investigate the impact of secondary air currents generated by high-speed passenger trains on the environment along the high-speed railway.
