Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a natural concentrate of autologous blood growth factors experimented in different fields of medicine in order to test its potential to enhance tissue regeneration. The aim of our study is to study the effects of intra articular injections of autologous “Platelet Rich Plasma“ in the osteoarthritis of knee joint and to assess the functional outcome after injecting platelet rich plasma in osteoarthritic knee joints and compare the results with standard studies and draw conclusions.

Methods: This is a prospective study done on 161 Kellgren-Lawrence radiological grade I and grade II knee joints, between August 2013 and March 2016 which, were treated with PRP intra-articular injections. The procedure consisted of injection of 8 ml platelet concentrate into the knee joint with an 18- gauge needle without local anaesthetic. Patients were assessed with WOMAC (Western Ontario McMaster Universities Arthritis Index) scoring pre injection of PRP and post injection period of 1 month and 6 months. A reduction in WOMAC score is suggestive of improvement in the patient’s condition.

Results: There is a significant improvement in WOMAC score of all the patients and the results sustained for more than 6 months. Though there is clinically better results are seen in grade I knee joints than grade II knee joints, these results are statistically not significant.

Conclusions: Osteoarthritis (Grade I and Grade II) of Kellgren Lawrence radiological grading does give relief from pain, stiffness and improves functionality without any major side effects and can be recommended as a viable modality of treatment.

Objective: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive chronic disease with the loss of articular cartilage. In managing osteoarthritis, inadequate pain relief often occurs, particularly with a single non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs therapy. Methods: A total of 50 participants were randomly allocated into three groups, received phonophoresis with piroxicam, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and ultrasound (US) therapy with aquasonic gel. Results: On comparing, the baseline phonophoresis group with piroxicam showed significantly more pain reduction than the DMSO and US therapy. Enrolled patients in three groups have completed the study without any drawbacks. Conclusion: This study showed that phonophoresis was superior to conventional US therapy in reducing pain in patients with symptomatic knee OA of a mild to moderate degree.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease, where the overall structure of the joint undergoes pathological changes. One of the changes that occur in the musculoskeletal system can cause mobility disorders. The impact that will occur in the elderly with osteoarthritis is likely to experience a decrease in musculoskeletal function. This study aims to determine the effect of osteoarthritis knee joint pain levels before and after exercise therapy for joint mobility. The design of this study uses a quasi-experimental method with a Pre and Post Test without Control research design. The sample in this study consisted of 30 respondents. The sampling method in this study is accidental sampling. Research data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. It is known that more than half of respondents who have osteoarthritis are in the age range of 45-59 years, which is 46.7% (14 respondents). The results showed that in general osteoarthritis pain before ROM was in the range of 80% moderate pain, and the results showed that in general osteoarthritis pain after ROM was in the range of 76.7%. Data analysis found that the p-value was 0,000 (p = <0.05) indicating that there was an effect of exercise joint mobility on the level of osteoarthritis knee joint pain in the elderly in the Posyandu of the Belakang Padang elderly. This research is expected to be able to contribute and develop nursing, as a material for making policies on psychological approaches in the form of exercise therapy for joint mobility in overcoming joint pain in patients with osteoarthritis. osteoarthritis by involving variables that affect the level of pain.

There has been much discourse and study on the management of Osteoarthritis Knee. Studies have focused on improving Joint Cartilage health, improving the joint functionality symptomatically or improving the quality of life of a patient with Knee Osteoarthritis. There have been no studies so far on altering Joint Space Width in an Osteoarthritic Knee joint with an attempt to improving the functionality at the Knee joint. Our case reports were aimed at understanding whether Radiologically Altered Knee Joint Space Width in Osteoarthritic Knees could be changed through Dry Needling Techniques.
