Mining abandoned lands had become a new problem encountered in the process of urbanization in China. This article described a research of typical case, which took Nanjing city as the study space, and abandoned lands of open-pit mines as the study type. With an site investigation and data analysis, this research focused on the following four aspects: hierarchical size, mining methods, location distribution, and reuse situation. Working over the characteristics of current situation, this article pointed out existing problems and set goals. Then two advices were given to the further reuse work of open-pit mines abandoned lands in Nanjing. The first one is implementation by sorting and in batches, and the second one is economic measures combined effectively.

With the accelerated process of urbanization in China, the high-rise buildings are springing, which makes a large number of open spaces located at the bottom of high-rise buildings. By conducting field research and observation to some areas with high-rise buildings in winter cities, the paper not only summarizes the problems existing in open space environment at the bottom of high-rise buildings, but also proposes the planning and design strategies based on the comfort of environment including well organizing wind environment, creating comfortable sunshine environment, reducing environmental pollution and forming different functional spaces.

The research and compilation of new century version of the National Huge Atlas of the People's Republic of China is the special basic work project by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. Among them, the research and compilation of the National Geomatics Atlas of the People's Republic of China is its main content. The National Geomatics Atlas of China consists of 4 groups of maps and place name index. The 4 groups of maps are separately nationwide thematic map group, provincial fundamental geographical map group, landcover map group and city map group. The city map group is an important component part of the National Geomatics Atlas of China and mainly shows the process of urbanization in China. This paper, aim at design and compilation of 39 city-wide maps, briefly introduces mapping area research and scale design, mapping technical route, content selection and cartographic generalization, symbol design and visualization of map, etc.

Urban Village is a special geographical phenomenon in the process of urbanization in China,it is an interlaced product of the history and the development of reality.As a result of the faultiness of the infrastructure of environmental sanitation,the insufficient of the outlay input,the unclearness of the management functions,the weakness of the environmental sanitation consciousness of some villagers and migrant workers and other factors,the environmental sanitation problem in Urban Village becomes more serious every day,the deep-seated problems and contradictions are already got concerns by all quarters of the society.This paper analyzes the environmental sanitation problem which exists in Urban Village of Xi'an.On this basis,this paper gives some suggestion that provides the environmental sanitary administration for reference opinions,which is to improve the environmental sanitation of Urban Villages and promote the improvement and perfection of the overall urban environmental management system.
