In-network caching is the essential part of Content-Centric Networking (CCN). The main aim of a CCN caching module is data distribution within the network. Each CCN node can cache content according to its placement policy. Therefore, it is fully equipped to meet the requirements of future networks demands. The placement strategy decides to cache the content at the optimized location and minimize content redundancy within the network. When cache capacity is full, the content eviction policy decides which content should stay in the cache and which content should be evicted. Hence, network performance and cache hit ratio almost equally depend on the content placement and replacement policies. Content eviction policies have diverse requirements due to limited cache capacity, higher request rates, and the rapid change of cache states. Many replacement policies follow the concept of low or high popularity and data freshness for content eviction. However, when content loses its popularity after becoming very popular in a certain period, it remains in the cache space. Moreover, content is evicted from the cache space before it becomes popular. To handle the above-mentioned issue, we introduced the concept of maturity/immaturity of the content. The proposed policy, named Immature Used (IMU), finds the content maturity index by using the content arrival time and its frequency within a specific time frame. Also, it determines the maturity level through a maturity classifier. In the case of a full cache, the least immature content is evicted from the cache space. We performed extensive simulations in the simulator (Icarus) to evaluate the performance (cache hit ratio, path stretch, latency, and link load) of the proposed policy with different well-known cache replacement policies in CCN. The obtained results, with varying popularity and cache sizes, indicate that our proposed policy can achieve up to 14.31% more cache hits, 5.91% reduced latency, 3.82% improved path stretch, and 9.53% decreased link load, compared to the recently proposed technique. Moreover, the proposed policy performed significantly better compared to other baseline approaches.

One of the main questions in audio description (AD) to which no systematic answers have been provided yet, is how to decide what information you include in your description and – if there is not enough time to describe everything – how you prioritize that information. In the present paper I want to propose an answer to this problem by asking the question: how do audiences process (filmic) stories and what information do they need to process them? The basic idea underlying this question is that people process and interpret stories by creating mental models (Johnson-Laird, 1983) of these stories. The paper explains how these models are created, what information is necessary to create them and what is optional, thus helping describers to decide what information in their description is “need-to-have” and what is “nice-to-have”. The theoretical explanation will be applied to the opening of the film Slumdog millionaire (Boyle, 2008), to illustrate how the theory works and can be used in daily practice. Lay summary Audio description (AD) for film is a service for people with sight loss that weaves a verbal description of visual elements and unclear sound effects they do not have access to, between the dialogues of the original production. Since this description cannot interfere with the dialogues, there often is very little time for AD and describers will have to decide what to include and what to leave out of their descriptions. In this article, I present a way to tackle this problem, based on the basic idea that films generally tell stories and that the audio description should allow the target audience to recreate that story in their minds. More specifically I focus on two questions, namely a) how do audiences mentally recreate stories and b) what elements do they need to do so. Insights into these two questions will show audio describers what information the target audience needs to recreate the story told in the film, and hence will help them to decide what information they really need to include in their AD. After a theoretical exploration of these two questions, the approach will be illustrated by means of a concrete example, taken from the film Slumdog millionaire (Boyle, 2008).

AbstractThe last two decades have witnessed major disruptions to the traditional media industry as a result of technological breakthroughs. New opportunities and challenges continue to arise, most recently as a result of the rapid advance and adoption of artificial intelligence technologies. On the one hand, the broad adoption of these technologies may introduce new opportunities for diversifying media offerings, fighting disinformation, and advancing data-driven journalism. On the other hand, techniques such as algorithmic content selection and user personalization can introduce risks and societal threats. The challenge of balancing these opportunities and benefits against their potential for negative impacts underscores the need for more research in responsible media technology. In this paper, we first describe the major challenges—both for societies and the media industry—that come with modern media technology. We then outline various places in the media production and dissemination chain, where research gaps exist, where better technical approaches are needed, and where technology must be designed in a way that can effectively support responsible editorial processes and principles. We argue that a comprehensive approach to research in responsible media technology, leveraging an interdisciplinary approach and a close cooperation between the media industry and academic institutions, is urgently needed.

Video streaming is widely available nowadays. Moreover, since the pandemic hit all across the globe, many people stayed home and used streaming services for news, education,  and entertainment. However,   when streaming in session, user Quality of Experience (QoE) is unsatisfied with the video content selection while streaming on smartphone devices. Users are often irritated by unpredictable video quality format displays on their smartphone devices. In this paper, we proposed a framework video selection scheme that targets to increase QoE user satisfaction. We used a video content selection algorithm to map the video selection that satisfies the user the most regarding streaming quality. Video Content Selection (VCS) are classified into video attributes groups. The level of VCS streaming will gradually decrease to consider the least video selection that users will not accept depending on video quality. To evaluate the satisfaction level, we used the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) to measure the adaptability of user acceptance towards video streaming quality. The final results show that the proposed algorithm shows that the user satisfies the video selection, by altering the video attributes.

Stretching beyond its theoretical field, the debates about the purposes of history education are of great importance to curriculum writers and classroom practitioners. The content selection from a broad field of history is connected to what educators deem an overarching purpose of education. With this in mind, this paper aims to examine the purposes of teaching history against the background of the two general theories of education, namely – the theories of a flourishing life and powerful knowledge. While the theory of a flourishing life encourages the development of personal autonomy, allowing individuals to make successful choices, the theory of powerful knowledge examines the importance of traditional academic knowledge for individual success. The paper will also use the context of post-conflict societies, to reflect on the question of possible purposes of history education.

The present paper aims to describe approaches to the content selection of the tasks used in the regional and final stages of the Olympiad in the Russian language. The issue regarding the correlation between the existing documents that prescribe the content of education on the one hand and the requirements for holding the regional and final stages of the national Olympiad in Russian for school students on the other is treated as relevant in this study. The performed analysis of the methodological guidelines for holding the school and municipal stages of the national Olympiad for school students in combination with the examination of the codifiers employed to develop testing and assessment materials for learners’ final assessment allowed the authors to identify the didactic units which are the elements to be tested. Moreover, the paper provides models for several tasks. These models permit achieving the objective of assessing learners’ knowledge and building their motivation for cognitive activity. It is concluded that the content of the tasks and the tested skills of school students participating in the national Olympiad in the Russian language completely satisfy the requirements specified in the documents which regulate the development of the testing and assessment materials for the state final certification in this subject. These tasks can be used by teachers not only as a resource to prepare students for the Olympiad, but also to motivate them to study Russian.

Background: Consistently following and practicing the instructions given in the educational booklets helps in the disease awareness and its management.Methods: The study was developed by formulating the booklet content; content selection and source reference; framing the content; artfully crafting the pictures; booklet layout; approval by the specialist and audience; modifying and proofreading.  For content validation, the item-level content validity index (I-CVI) score and scale level content validity index (S-CVI) score of minimum 0.80 was considered.Results: The booklet was created by focusing on 5 main aspects namely information about the disease and the importance about the lifestyle changes, exercises, advices that needs to be considered while exercising, footcare and fall prevention techniques. The recommendations made by the experts and the participants were accepted and incorporated in the booklet. The mean I-CVI and S-CVI scores are >0.90. The booklet was easy to read, understand and apply by the experts and participants.Conclusions: The results indicated that validated booklet can be considered as a useful educational tool for promoting the wellness among the elders with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The subject of the report is the methodology of carrying out an examination of the application for the purpose of establishing the optimal acoustic minds in the prevalence of attribution. The goal is to improve the quality of all stages of acoustic examination, taking into account the premises for which there are special requirements for the quality of the transmitted content or for which there are features in the formation of the sound field. Such a sequence of stages requires the solution of several tasks: determining the conditions for conducting research, taking into account the specifics of the premises and content; selection of hardware and software complex for research; determination of informative criteria for assessing the acoustics of a room, taking into account all its features; processing and analysis of the results obtained. The application of this approach to the stages of acoustic examination was considered on the example of a conference room, for which there were requirements for high quality speech content, a sound reinforcement system was already used in the hall, and there were features in the formation of a sound field. The authors in the article describe the solutions to all the tasks for the investigated room. The results obtained made it possible to analyze the objective characteristics of the sound field and identify the reasons for the low quality of speech content transmission not only in the acoustic calculation, but when using the existing sound reinforcement systems (electroacoustic calculation). Conclusions. The proposed sequence of the stages of acoustic examination makes it possible to identify "problem" places in the formation of the sound field and / or to determine possible solutions even before the stages of checking existing architectural and construction solutions and the development of technical specifications for the construction of enclosing surfaces and measures to create optimal acoustic conditions.
