An experimental investigation on the dynamic characteristics of unbounded prestressed concrete simply support beams is presented. A total of 5 unbounded prestressed concrete simply support beams were constructed and tested. The influence of prestressing on natural vibration frequency of concrete beams is studied by applying prestress gradually. A model of variable stiffness is proposed to calculate the natural vibration frequency of unbounded prestressed concrete beams. The finite element program Sap2000 is used to calculate the frequency of unbounded prestressed concrete beams. The results show that the calculating results agree well with experimental ones.

Using the Jianninxia Bridge as the experiment object, we set dynamic loading test on it, and did theoretical analysis on its natural vibration characteristics by using large-scale general finite-element software. After the comparative analysis between the collected datas and the theoretical analysis datas, we find that the measurement of the natural vibration frequency is greater than the theoretical analysis value; and the measured value of impact coefficient is less than the theoretical value; therefore, it indicates that this bridge’s actual structural rigidity is greater than its theoretical rigidity, but lack of the impact resistance.

Finite element theory was taken to do a research on a through CFST (concrete-filled steel tube) arch bridge and a change rule of the bridge’s natural vibration frequency was found when its suspenders were tensioning. Through three tension schemes, after solving the first fifteen orders of the natural vibration frequency of each condition and drawing the change curve and analyzing the effect of different suspender tension order on the natural vibration frequency, we come to the conclusion: different suspender tension order will have no effect on the natural vibration frequency when the bridge is completed but when it is constructing, which mainly shows that both the first three and eight to thirteen orders of the natural vibration frequency are discrepant; different location of suspenders has different affection degree on the natural vibration frequency of the bridge. The conclusion has reference value for bridge construction.

With the development of wind turbines trend of single machine but large capacity, and with the concrete wind-turbine tower has many advantages such as corrosion resistance, high stability, convenient manufacture in-site and lower maintenance cost, concrete tower will have more and more wide prospect. Application of large finite element software FINAL, the main research is the influence of SSI effect on wind power tower natural vibration frequency. We can know that SSI effect is very important for wind power tower natural vibration frequency. So we can not ignore the influence of the interaction between soil and structure. We should pay more attention to this actor when we design or analyse a wind power tower.

The analysis of the natural vibration frequency of a large-span truss with flanged connections is given. The calculation of the flange connection with various cases of exclusion of bolts from the connection operation is performed. Analysis of the calculation results showed that the occurrence of damage and defects in the building structures in local areas, the value of which significantly reduces the overall rigidity of the frame, practically does not affect the dynamic characteristics of the frame.

In this paper, model tests were carried out to investigate two degrees of freedom VIV of horizontally-laid cylinders with diameters of 5cm, 11cm, 20cm and length 120cm and compared their vibration trajectories. The test results showed that the in-line and cross-flow vibration frequency of different scale cylinders demonstrate “multi frequency” phenomenon, that is, the in-line vibration frequency is not only twice but also once or four times as much as the cross-flow vibration frequency in some scale, natural frequency and reduced velocity conditions. Also, the cross-flow multi-frequency vibration phenomenon occurred. The trajectory of the vibration cylinder differentiated from the traditional “8” shape accordingly. The vibration trajectory, especially of small-scale cylinder, changed in most conspicuous manner. Through the initial research and analysis, it was found that in addition to in-line and cross-flow natural vibration frequency and the flow velocity, the shape of cylinders was also one of the main causes leading to different vibration trajectory forms.
