Structural performance is the most important index to declare the stability, safety and durability of structures in practical engineering. The performance degradation of structures becomes more and more common with the increase of service life. To ensure the safe operation of structures, the hot research has gradually changed from large-scale construction to the detection, repair, reinforcement, renovation and maintenance.

In this paper, a complete nonlinear dynamic unmanned helicopter model considering wind disturbance is proposed to achieve realistic simulations and teasing out the effect of wind on the control system. The wind velocity vector which is horizontal as seen in the inertial frame can be obtained by subtracting the airspeed measured by atmospheric data computer from the inertial speed measured by GPS. The design of the controller fully considers the existence of wind, and the wind disturbance is suppressed by the method of hierarchical control combined with the integral sliding mode control (SMC). The stability proof is given. Hardware in the loop (HIL) tool is employed as a practical engineering solution, and it is an essential step in validating the new algorithm before moving to real flight experiments.

Aim & Scope: Metal halide perovskitehave been regarded as promising classes of materials for photovoltaics and optoelectronic devices, owing to the unique characteristics, such as long charge carrier diffusion lengths, precise tunable bandgaps, high light absorption coefficients, and high defect tolerance. Research on perovskite in the fields including photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes, lasers, X-ray imaging, and photodetectors has been gaining increasingly interest over the past years. Up to now, the efficiency of perovskite solar cells has grown from 3.8% in single-junction solar cells in 2009 to more than 25%, catching up the efficiency level of commercial silicon cells. Up to now, the key issues of perovskite photovoltaics and optoelectronic devices have become the stability, performance and large-scale production. This requires optimization of the film morphology, interface, device structure and the fabrication process. A lot work has been done on this issue and has made remarkable progress. We kindly invite you to submit a manuscript(s) for this Special Issue. Full papers, communications, and reviews are all welcome.

There is a noticeable portion of the Italian building stock, typically concentrated in suburban areas, whose performance obsolescence and vulnerability are worsening its value and urban image as well. Even though a large-scale construction replacement seems to be apparently the expected way to solve the problem, current global strategies towards the built environment demand different approaches. The paper identifies envelope replacement as a systemic and feasible tactic to extend the service life of such target buildings and to enhance their resilience towards climate change and users’ needs, also with positive fallouts for the environment and urban image.

As special equipment, long-distance pipeline is widely used in petroleum, chemistry and other fields. However, with the extension of its running time, some problems have arisen with parts of the pipeline. The detection and repair technology is the foundation for assurance of the safe operation of pipelines; therefore, in order to avoid or reduce pipeline accidents as well as to protect people's lives and property safety, periodic detection and designed reasonable repair of the pipeline has naturally become an important part of pipeline industry today. Several commonly used inspection techniques of pipeline were introduced in this paper and related repair measures were described in view of problems emerging during the service life of long-distance pipeline in the practical engineering.

Problems of providing the population and agricultural production by qualitative potable and process water in the Central Yakutia are covered. This territory belongs to the region with acute shortage of water resources which is always a limiting factor of development of agricultural production. For the solution of this burning issue in the 80th years of the last century along the small rivers the systems of hydraulic engineering constructions providing requirements with process water practically of all settlements of the Central Yakutia were constructed. At a construction of all hydraulic engineering buildings the method of construction with preservation of soils of the basis of constructions in a frozen state was applied. When warming the climate which is observed in recent years hydraulic engineering constructions built in regions of a wide spread occurance of breeds of an ice complex and with the considerable volume of water weight, were especially vulnerable. On character and a design they experience continuous threat of damage and demand very attentive relation from the operating organizations. Taking this into account, safe operation of hydraulic engineering constructions in a zone of distribution of permafrost breeds demands new approaches. The article examines features of hydraulic engineering constructions’ operation of agricultural water supply objects in the Central Yakutia. Distinctiveness of hydraulic engineering constructions’ operation is that stability of constructions is intimately bound to temperature impact of a reservoir on ground dams’ body and the basis of constructions. The possibility of inclusion of ways for an intensification of a freezing of constructions in the structure of operational actions is studied. The new method on safe operation of hydraulic engineering constructions as prewinter abatement of the water level in a reservoir accounting volumes and norms of water consumption of the settlement is offered.

Levan has wide applications in chemical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries. The free levansucrase is usually used in the biosynthesis of levan, but the poor reusability and low stability of free levansucrase have limited its large-scale use. To address this problem, the surface-displayed levansucrase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae were generated and evaluated in this study. The levansucrase from Zymomonas mobilis was displayed on the cell surface of Saccharomyces cerevisiae EBY100 using a various yeast surface display platform. The N-terminal fusion partner is based on a-agglutinin, and the C-terminal one is Flo1p. The yield of levan produced by these two whole-cell biocatalysts reaches 26 g/L and 34 g/L in 24 h, respectively. Meanwhile, the stability of the surface-displayed levansucrases is significantly enhanced. After six reuses, these two biocatalysts retained over 50% and 60% of their initial activities, respectively. Furthermore, the molecular weight and polydispersity test of the products suggested that the whole-cell biocatalyst of levansucrase displayed by Flo1p has more potentials in the production of levan with low molecular weight which is critical in certain applications. In conclusion, our method not only enable the possibility to reuse the enzyme, but also improves the stability of the enzyme.
