Generally, numbers of shops are present in large-scale industries. Therefore, it is necessary to identify critical equipment’s for ensuring lower failure rate. Multiple researchers’ applied risk based analysis to select critical equipment’s from one particular section of a plant; based on the feedback of industry personnel or of their own observations that increases the error probability. Apart from this, the decision making (DM) techniques usually provide the best alternatives, but in maintenance there is a need to identify critical or the worst performing equipment. Therefore, this research paper covers three parts: (1) a novel approach of two-step decision making for identifying critical section and then critical equipment in that section at an electrode graphite manufacturing plant; (2) an innovative methodology of normalization for the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP); (3) Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE) method for validation. This work identified "utility" section n this heavy industry as a critical section and "screw compressor number 5" as critical equipment. From maintenance point of view, “critical" refers to the worst performing ones. Therefore, if this research followed a conventional methodology, then some other section could randomly be considered as "critical" and the best performing equipment would get the 1st ranking. Apart from this, PROMETHEE also provided the same result which validates the methodology.

In order to study the quality risk of large-scale clusters of engineering project and makes the characteristic analysis of large-scale clusters of engineering project and evaluates quality risk, the author uses analytic hierarchy process to quantify quality risk factor, and the following conclusions are obtained: (a) Construction management unit that makes the project decision-making mainly controls the QRM, comparatively speaking, it has little control over quality risk when the project is completed and ready to get acceptance (b) In the project decision-making stage, the Construction Technology has the greatest influence on the project quality management. This paper puts forward the suggestion that the influence of quality risk factors should be quantified by associated experts, so as to provide a reference for the construction quality management of large-scale cluster projects.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the widely accepted and frequently used priority assessment methods. A number of studies, which employed the AHP method, have already been carried out in different domains to support their multi-criteria decision-making definitions and applications. However, few researchers have paid attentions to extract and represent the important concepts and their relationships from the AHP method itself. The aim of this study is firstly to propose a way for representing the AHP method as an AHP Ontology together with a set of reasoning rules. Then, a prototype assessment tool is developed to show the possibility of obtaining more flexibility and reusability of this ontological representation.

Assessment of hydropower projects with respect to sustainability criteria is a multidimensional and complex issue. It requires considering technical, environmental, and social parameters instead of purely economic ones in decision making for energy planning. The flexibility to consider several criteria and objectives simultaneously leads to the use of multicriteria decision making (MCDM) methods which are well accepted in the field of energy planning. This paper aims at applying MCDM methods in facilitating the decision makers to select the most sustainable hydropower projects in the Indian region by making real and logical choices based on eight important criteria selected from the literature that are compatible with sustainable development. To comprehensively rank hydropower projects three MCDM methods are applied i.e., the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE II), and elimination and choice translating reality (ELECTRE III). Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to calculate the weights of criteria. All three methods are well adapted for sustainability assessment and ranked Sharavathi (A9), Bhakra (A2), and Upper Indravati (A13) to be the most sustainable hydropower projects in India under the selected criteria. The study will be helpful in sustainable energy planning of hydropower projects with similar geographical conditions.

Even though multifunctionality concept is reflected, implicit or explicitly, in the design of actual agrarian policies, its consideration when analysing and assessing farming systems is relatively limited in the scientific literature. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is proposed with this aim. AHP is a multicriteria discrete decision support technique that is used in complex decision making. This methodology is stated jointly with a proposed procedure to measure relative agreement among decision makers and uniformity of alternatives’ performances in group decision making. Finally AHP is implemented in the assessment of organic, integrated and conventional olive groves in Andalusia considering criteria of a different nature – economic, technical, sociocultural and environmental –. The final purpose is determining the more interesting growing techniques from a holistic point of view for all the society in the medium/long-term on the basis of knowledge of experts on olive.

As livestock plays a very crucial role in Indian economy. Livestock trading in India is very unstructured. The Buyer can be farmer or Diary farm owner who wants to procure a livestock. In this research the Livestock which is considered is the Murrah buffalo belong to water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) breed which are mainly kept for milk production. The buyer is available with 8 suppliers which are fulfilling the same criteria of the breed. The Suppliers are divided into two segments, large scale supplier and small scale supplier. The supplier having more than 10 livestock of same breed has been considered large scale supplier, and the supplier having less than or equal to 10 has been considered small scale supplier. As competition is increasing every day the procurement activities are highly important. So, Multi criteria decision making approach has been used. Specifically, Analytic Hierarchy Process has been used for the selection of vendor among the alternatives available. In this research three criteria, seven sub criteria and eight alternatives has been evaluated. All vendors are ranked according to the result obtained from the AHP to aid the decision making. By implementation of AHP we were able to obtain the best fit vendor. AHP is a practical tool used for aiding the decision making when there are too many parameters. In Livestock trading ecosystem this tool will help in decision making

The aim of this paper is to develop a methodology for the prioritization of sewer rehabilitation projects for Algiers (Algeria) sewer networks to support the National Sanitation Office in its challenge to make decisions on prioritization of sewer rehabilitation projects. The methodology applies multiple-criteria decision making. The study includes 47 projects (collectors) and 12 criteria to evaluate them. These criteria represent the different issues considered in the prioritization of the projects, which are structural, hydraulic, environmental, financial, social and technical. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to determine weights of the criteria and the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE II) method is used to obtain the final ranking of the projects. The model was verified using the sewer data of Algiers. The results have shown that the method can be used for prioritizing sewer rehabilitation projects.

A buying decision process is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problems faced by everyone in daily life. One example is the selection of smartphones brand in the market. Thus, the study is conducted to evaluate the most effective criteria for buying smartphones and to rank the people's preferences on smartphone based on its brand. Six criteria (price, operating system, memory, display, camera and battery) and three alternatives which are the smartphone brands (Oppo, Samsung and Apple) were chosen in the study. Two main processes were involved, which are 1) evaluate the smartphone criteria using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and 2) ranking the brand using Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE). Surveys and questionnaires were conducted and evaluated by decision makers who are the smartphone's users. The result showed storage memory is considered as prominent criteria in choosing a smartphone meanwhile the consumers firstly prefer Oppo, secondly Apple and thirdly Samsung. Future work in this study may use other alternatives to be ranked by considering other top models as well. Abstract The present work has as main objective the development and presentation of a model for supplier’s evaluation. The proposed model includes the criteria of the lean concept and provides a comprehensive analysis for decision-making in the area of supplies. The work involved 05 steps: (i) identify and select the main criteria for lean suppliers management; (ii) perform the weighting of criteria using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process); (iii) define the indicators to be used for the suppliers analysis in every sub-criteria; (iv) calculate the relative weight of each indicator through the analysis of interdependence between the sub-criteria and indicators; (v) testing partially the model through the application of the same in a product group in the reality of a company. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a model that combines the method AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) used for multiple criteria decision-making method with QFD (Quality Function Deployment) able to translate these criteria in guidelines for the supply management. From a practical point of view, the importance of this article is to present a relatively simple model for the systematization of building supply indicators. The obtained results recommend the use of this template.

The determination of elective courses for students is one of many things that require some complex considerations. This complexity is motivated by psychological and non-psychological factors of human beings such as: learning motivation, lecturer and previous learning experience. Many students found difficulties if they have to decide in a complex options in which has the identical option. Thus, they made their decisions based on just one perceived factors alone without taking into account other factors which have great importance as well. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one method that can be used as an appropriate decision supporting tool to reduce the complexity of decision making process. AHP provides analysis in the form of selected course recommendations that have a weight of rankings to the level of importance of each preferred alternative. This study was a preliminary study subjected to construct the real consideration from students’ point of view. In which very important to create a hierarchical perspective order for decision making process in both sides, student and education provider which was on Accounting Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta.
