The article presents the interdisciplinary approach to analyse Ukrainian Romanticism as a national version of the European romantic style of the 19th – early 20th centuries. This approach is based on the comparison of the aesthetic and artistic foundations of the romantic style with its fundamental principles in West and East European countries in different cultural fields such as philosophy, literature, and music. Generalisations in the article are derived from the analysis of the creative heritage of Ukrainian and European Romantics, as well as a consideration of Ukrainian Romanticism in the in the humanities studies. Basing on the historical, historical-cultural, historical-comparative scholarly methods, and the method of modelling, the dynamics of Ukrainian Romanticism under the influence of the aesthetical principle and creativity of the European romantics of the 19th-early 20 centuries is traced. It is demonstrated that Ukrainian Romanticism evolution has 3 stages (early, folklore, and neoromantic) that embody typological traits of the European Romanticism and national peculiarities of Ukrainian Romanticism. The author concludes that the style authenticity of Ukrainian Romanticism is preconditioned by the character of the European and national tendencies’ connection. The research results widen the interdisciplinary discourse of the Romanticism. Moreover, the analytical generalizations of Ukrainian Romanticism enrich the context of the Romanticism examination as a multicultural artistic-aesthetic system.

The article aims to study and analyze the influence of transformation on business relations in East European countries. It includes revealing the essence of the transformation change, formal rules, informal constraints and enforcement characteristics. Literature review suggests that political and socioeconomic changes can affect transformation reforms in the framework of speeding them up. The process of convergence of the new institutional economy and the evolutionary economy theories demonstrate confirms the existence of common theoretical foundations. They include recognition of the existence of limits of rational behavior of economic entities, unpredictability, and irreversibility of business decision-making process. Institutional transformation assumes a complex process, where mechanical copying and transferring institutions do not provide quantitative changes, and need the development of formal rules and informal institutions, law enforcement mechanism, as well as consciousness and mental characteristics of the population. The content of the modern institutional system of transformation, including the institutional-legal, institutional-economic and institutional-technological systems, is presented. The systematization of classification features is carried out: content, the main tasks and results of the functioning of the institutional transformation subsystems. The effectiveness of the present system is considered, based on revealing the relationship and the influence of all its subsystems. Transformation changes affect business environment, and result in foundation of a stronger legal framework and a system of property rights, decreasing bureaucracy, and enhancing competition. The success of any efforts to weaken the influence of ineffective institutions will depend primarily on whether East European countries’ present-day facade institutions can be replaced with institutions that are robust and independent. Application of the interdisciplinary approach promotes an in-depth study the drivers of transformation reforms, and proposes scenarios for future development of East European countries.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar (1901-1962) is one of the most controversial authors in the 20th century Turkish literature. Literature critics find it difficult to place him in a school of literature and thought. There are many reasons that they have caused Tanpinar to give the impression of ambiguity in his thoughts through his literary works. One of them is that he is always open to (even admires) the "other" thought to a certain age, and he considers synthesis thinking at later ages. Tanpinar states in the letter that he wrote to a young lady from Antalya that he composed the foundations of his first period aesthetics due to the contributions from western (French) writers. The influence of the western writers on him has also inspired his interest in the materialist culture of the West. In 1953 and 1959 he organized two tours to Europe in order to see places where Western thought and culture were produced. He shared his impressions that he gained in European countries in his literary works. In the literary works of Tanpinar, Europe comes out as an aesthetic object. The most dominant facts of this aesthetic are music, painting, etc. In this work, in the writings of Tanpinar about the countries that he travelled in Europe, some factors were detected like European culture, lifestyle, socio-cultural relations, art and architecture, political and social history and so on. And the effects of European countries were compared with Tanpinar’s thought and aesthetics. Keywords: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar, Europe, poetry, music, painting, culture, life

Based on fieldwork (primarily in southern Romania), this article treats identity-construction among professional male Romani musicians, investigating in particular the discourse that they generate as they maintain their exclusive vocational niche on the boundaries of intersecting ethnic communities. Seeking to establish the influence of Romani musicians as agents in the construction of their own identity, Beissinger discusses notions that Romani musicians provide of non-Roms and other Roms (including other musicians), as well as how they portray surrounding cultural and political phenomena as expressions of their syncretic occupational and ethnic sense of self. Beissinger argues that Romani musicians are unquestionably enclosed by socially inflicted boundaries but are themselves also agents of boundary-making as they articulate connections with and distinctions from the world around them. Throughout, she draws pertinent comparisons with Romani musicians in other east European countries.

The development of modern sports medicine began at the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century, and it has been associated with social and cultural changes in the world of medicine, science and sports. Advanced medical knowledge, skills and practices, and the progress of scientific achievements enabled sports people to improve their performance level. Increased popularisation and commercialisation of sports have resulted from urbanization and city lifestyle, leading to the lack of physical activity and increased psychological pressure. In addition, the growing need and interest in sports and successes in professional sports have become a symbol of international recognition and prestige for the nations.
