Using the IR-thermography methods, the experimental evaluation of temperature transitions in a steel and aluminum glue-welded joint made with applying various adhesive materials (epoxy, anaerobic, organic-silicon and hot melt glue) has been carried out. It was found out that viscosity of an adhesive material considerably effected on the temperature transitions in the glue-welded joint as well as on glue line thickness. The temperature transitions were demonstrated on different sections of the glue-welded joint. Conclusions were made about the influence of properties of adhesive materials on the glue-welded joint quality.

The comparative investigation results of AD33 aluminum alloy welded joint quality dependence upon changes in a laser beam motion rate for conditions of hand and automatic laser welding are shown. A micro-structure of a welded joint at the hand and automatic laser welding of the AD33 alloy is investigated.

AA6061 Aluminum alloy welded joint using two different filler metals were studied by using X-ray CT-Scan. The filler metals ER 4043 and ER 5356 were used in this present work in order to investigate the effect of using different filler metals on the welded joint quality of AA 6061 aluminum alloy in welded zone microstructure. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) technique and V grove butt joint with four layers and five passes welded joint were performed. From this investigation, it is found that AA6061 with ER 4043 showed less distribution of porosity compared to AA6061 with ER 5356 welded joint confirmed by X-ray Ct-Scan. The decreasing of porosities and presence of very fine grains in weld region area with ER 5356 compared to ER 4043 will be discussed in term of microstructure analysis.

A series of waterborne polyurethane (WBPU)/modified lignin amine (MLA) adhesives was prepared using modified lignin amine (MLA) as a chain extender by a prepolymer mixing process. A successful Mannich reaction was achieved during the synthesis of MLA by reacting lignin with bis(3-aminopropyl)amine. Higher tensile strength, Young’s modulus and thermal stability were recorded for WBPU/MLA adhesives with higher MLA contents. The WBPU/MLA adhesive materials were used to coat PVC substrates. The adhesive strength increased with increasing MLA content. More importantly, the MLA also enhanced the WBPU/MLA coating in terms of adhesive strength at moderately high temperatures as well as under natural weather exposed conditions. The adhesive strength was essentially unaffected with 6.48 mole% MLA in the WBPU/MLA coating after exposure to natural weather conditions for 180 days.

The paper deals with the studies on the serviceability and performance of rivet bonded joints produced with the use of thermoplastic hot-melt adhesives. Thermoplastic hot-melt adhesives are compared with conventional epoxy adhesives. The performance evaluation of different adhesive materials by dismantling of rivet bonded joints is fulfilled. The time necessary for each operation of the process is considered. The algorithms are provided for finding the design and engineering solution when replacing the conventional process of riveting by rivet bonding in production and machine maintenance.

The main focus of this paper is research and development of new adhesive materials which will be possible to apply and withstand conditions of environments with exposure to aggressive chemical compounds. These new materials will also be required to withstand high temperatures up to 100°C. Main application of developed adhesives will be during laying of non-absorbent tiles mainly made from cast basalt. Several secondary raw materials were considered during the development of new adhesive mixtures as possible replacement of silicate filler components of new materials. The goal is to develop a new adhesive material with properties as close as possible to the highly durable non-absorbent elements used in stressed environments, mainly because the material will be also used for pointing between individual elements.

The matters of a welded joint efficient structure choice and a technology of automatic welding by a nonconsumable tungsten electrode with pulse arc in argon environment with filler wire feeding and without it to increase quality of the welded joints in hydraulic exploration pipe lines of structural engineering are con-sidered. It is defined that a technological process of welding with flanged pipe feeding ensures quality sta-bility in welded joints, but a welding process with twosided grooving ensuring root joint quality and, accordingly, the whole welded joint is more preferable while using one-sided grooving separate cases of incomplete root penetration, an electrode fault to a side vertical surface of grooving in the course of welding are possible and a more labor-intensive operation of setting a welding torch along a joint axis is also possible. On the basis of the investigation results there were developed welding modes of hydraulic explora-tion elements of an excavator, preproduction models of pipes with fittings were welded. The welded pre-production models were delivered to the plant for an industrial testing fulfillment.
